Love the Guadalupe River, but not all the crowds? Serenity and fun await you at the Oar Haus River Cabin! The cabin sits on a private, park-like reserve, on a deep two mile section of the river between Lakes McQueeney and Dunlap. Because the Oar Haus sits between the dams, there are no ski boats or tubers in your backyard. It’s like having the river to yourself! The cabin is surrounded by a ranch and backs up to the river, with another ranch on the opposite bank and only one directly neighboring property. During your stay, there is a high probability that -- outside of fish, birds, squirrels and deer -- you may not encounter another living soul. Peace and Quiet!
EVENTS: The Oar Haus has enough elbow room to host small weddings, family reunions, and group retreats, and beckons friends and family to enjoy time together without all the distractions of the daily grind. Come kick off your shoes and relax. Spend some quality time on the back porch and watch the sunset over the cypress lined Guadalupe River. Bait a hook or pitch some horseshoes, grab a lawn chair and read a book, fire up the BBQ for the day’s fresh catch and enjoy a glass of wine at your private waterfront retreat… this is the place to simply escape and unwind. Call to learn more about our camp ground rental and events scheduling.
The cabin sits up on a hill overlooking the property and the river. Spend your days kayaking, swimming, and fishing out your back door, where your family is sure to create memories that will last a lifetime. After sunset, go warm up next to a cozy fire under the bright stars as the moonlight sparkles on the water. Then come inside and enjoy a comfortable night’s rest. Wake up to birds chirping in the mammoth pecan tree behind the cabin, and watch deer pass by from the sunroom.
The Oar Haus is located between the two historic settlements of New Braunfels and Seguin; and within 40 minutes of Austin and San Antonio. Once you arrive, be prepared to drive down a one mile dirt road that meanders through a canopied hall of trees and ends at a secluded get-a-way. Whether you want to sit on the large deck and watch the wildlife, or go out and enjoy the wild life, this cabin lets you leave the world behind but stay close to the fun. If you’re not familiar with New Braunfels, I’ll sum it up in two words… swimsuits and boots. You’ll find no shortage of water sports, live music, incredible food, and down-home friendly people in this part of the country, and no shortage of opportunities to sit and fish from the banks of our beautiful river. Come see what time off is supposed to feel like.
The cabin has 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. The master includes 1 queen and 1 full bed, with a spacious master bath. The 2nd bedroom has a full bed and the 3rd bedroom has 2 twin beds. The cabin is well-appointed with a full kitchen and a washer and dryer. There are two dining areas, a sunroom, and a living room with skylights and a cozy fireplace. For your entertainment, we provide: wi-fi internet, cable, 3 grills (gas/coal/smoker), life vests, tubes, inflatables, kayaks, canoes, fishing poles and standup paddleboards – ALL INCLUDED! We hope to see y’all soon, and we hope the Oar Haus will bring as much joy into your lives as it does to ours.

We are a retired military family originally from west Texas and Ohio. We've been in New Braunfels since 2005 and love the area. We are runners, paddlers, and play golf. The Oar Haus is a great joy in our lives and we put our hearts into making it a wonderful place to spend time. We live just a few miles away from the cabin, so we're just a phone call away.
After spending many summers on the Guadalupe, we picked this spot because it is so quiet and it lets you enjoy the river without the blasting stereos, beer bongs, and drunks. The Oar Haus is just an incredible spot to recharge, reconnect and relax. The solitude and wildlife have such a calming effect.
Sunsets, wildlife, serenity, and the river... close to town, yet a world away.
