Brief Description: This one bedroom, one bath log cabin in the Shields Valley offers a private retreat to get away from it all. The 100 year old cabin is in a pretty setting with no neighbors within sight or sound. The Shields River flows through the property near ranch headquarters about a mile away. Guests are welcome to fish the river and explore the property. The western decor and artwork, much of which is hand-crafted by the owners, has an authentic Montana feel.

Size of the home: The cabin is approximately 900 square feet, all on one level.

Bedrooms and baths: The bedroom has a queen size bed with a beautiful log frame. There is also extra sleeping space on the futon couch in the living area. There is one full bath in the home.

Kitchen and dining area: The kitchen is very spacious and well equipped with everything you could need for cooking and serving ware. There is a large counter with bar stools in the center of the kitchen, plus a dining table off to the side which will seat up to four people.

Living room: There is a futon couch in the living room which can pull out to sleep an extra guest or two. There is a television and VCR, plus satellite service. There is also a small portable stereo in the kitchen which will play tapes and CDs. Off to the side of the living room - almost adjoining the dining area - is a gas "woodstove."

Setting, acreage, views: Directly behind the cabin is a large meadow and pasture, where there are sometimes cattle out to graze - but it's not too close to the cabin. Beyond that, the majestic Crazy Mountains make their appearance. Moose and deer will frequently visit in the fields behind the cabin.

Services available: An end of stay cleaning is complimentary. If you happen to be staying two weeks or more, a weekly cleaning will be done. Additional housekeeping, as well as catering, and grocery shopping can be arranged with a bit of prior notice.

Activities nearby: Fishing on the Shields River, and hiking in the Crazies are just minutes away. Other activities include mountain biking, horseback riding and just plain relaxing. The small, western town of Wilsall is ten minutes away, and Livingston is about an hour away. Yellowstone Park is almost two hours away, but still close enough for a day trip. There is so much to do!

Distance to airport: The Bozeman airport is just over an hour away.

Other details: No smoking is allowed in the home. No pets are allowed on the property or in the home. There is washer, dryer and a private phone for guests. All Mountain Home properties have fully equipped kitchens, and include good quality kitchen, bath and bed linens, and staples like paper goods, laundry, dish and hand soaps.
