The house is ideally situated for golfers being a minutes drive from Castro Marim Golf Course.The Jack Nicklaus and new Sevi Ballesteros Golf Courses are also nearby and well worth a visit. The Sevi Ballesteros Course,in particular,comes highly recommended!Golf packages can be arranged which offer good discounts at all the courses within a 30 minute drive or less.
Castro Marim Golf Course is a challenging course offering stunning views across the countryside. Within an easy 15 minute drive, you can play the championship 36 hole Islantilla Golf Course which has hosted the Spanish Open and also Benamor (views over mountains, countryside and sea), Quinta Da Ria(beautiful sea views) and Quinta Da Cima, a lovely course and the most challenging of the three, all situated in Cabanas.
Within a 45 minute motorway drive (motorways here are a pleasure to drive on and much quieter than England!) you can find all the famous Algarve Golf Courses around the upmarket Vilamoura area.
Surrounding Areas:
The short drive to Vila Real, a bustling market town, provides stunning views across the Nature Reserve to Ayamonte, Spain and the impressive Suspension bridge connecting the two countries. The marshlands are home to many species of wildlife and birds and in low season, you can admire the beautiful flocks of wild pink flamingos.
Vila Real De Santo Antonio is renowned for its shops selling a wide selection of linen, towels and tablecloths. In the large tree lined square throughout the year they host numerous events culminating in a fantastic New Year spectacular when the square is thronged with people and families of all ages with a live band, firework display and a stunning waterfall of fireworks surrounding the whole square.
From Vila Real harbour, you can take the 10 minute ferry across the beautiful River Guadiana to the traditional, picturesque town of Ayamonte with its lovely tiled squares and fountains for 1.30 euro. The ferries run every half hour from morning till night.

Vila Real also has its own Railway Station and from here you can take the train, which is clean and reliable, and travel the whole length of the Algarve The train offers a scenic and beautiful view of the Portuguese countryside, villages and towns and from every town, you can walk down to the sea! Highly recommended! Nearby Altura offers beautiful beaches together with a large open-air swimming pool open to everybody for 4 euros for the whole day complete with sun lounges around the pool, tennis courts and a cafe-bar. Castro Marim also has a lovely children’s' play park with tunnel slides and raft across a small pool area for the older children and a separate play park for the little ones.
