A very unique home, this open concept guest house is the original home on an estate in the seacoast town of Hampton Falls, New Hampshire. Centrally located on a scenic road, a five minute drive from Phillips Exeter Academy, seacoast beaches and local farms. Twenty minutes to Newburyport MA and Portsmouth NH. Fifty minutes to Boston or Portland ME.
Upstairs you will find a queen and twin bed with vaulted ceilings, exposed beams and ceiling fan. The twin is separated from the queen by a bead board half wall. The desk area over looks a perennial rock garden, raised cut flower beds and an extensive kitchen garden in the rear of the property. An extra large closet with a window could function as sleeping area for a cot or crib. This is behind a divided light door upstairs.
Downstairs there is a custom kitchen with stainless appliances and a gas range. Full size fridge, microwave and dishwasher included. Rear entrance mudroom has a washer and dryer. Bathroom has a large two-headed tile shower and radiant heat under the tile floor. Living room is comfortable with a new couch, TV with DVD player and a drawer of movies hidden in the under stairs cabinet. Floor space available for additional sleeping cots or blow up mattress.
The house is eclectically decorated as a show house with finds from Ramona Morningbird, a vintage shop you can read more about at www.ramonamorningbird.com. Accessory furniture and decorations are evolving as the shop brings in new finds. The display will always inspire fun browsing.
Exit the home through the rear door to a pea stone patio planted with hydrangeas, hibiscus, and a weeping japanese maple. The sprawling lawn connects to the main home of the property and you are welcome to browse the gardens for fresh cut flowers or produce in the summer months. A large open field leads to a small brook and woods.
A short walk down the road you will find Applecrest Farm Orchards, the oldest and largest apple farm in New HAmpshire. Along with apples, there you can buy fresh baked goods, prepared foods, local grown produce, dairy and of course cider donuts.
Pets will be considered on a case by case basis. All considerations must be child, cat and other dog friendly.
Owners Rick and Hopi Wickson take pride in this home and property. Purchased in 2001 as a tear-down colonial it was lovingly rebuilt and restored from the studs outward and inward. It was here we got married, brought home two infants and built years of memories as we expanded to build the home next door. You will find the love of our family in height charts and cement paw prints throughout the home. Not just a rental - this is our guest home we are sharing with you.
Amazing place that was a great jumping off point on our honeymoon to Maine. We were able to stay several nights in this cute cottage, while making several day trips to Portland, Ogunquit, Freeport, and Boothbay Harbor. Everything was clean, plenty of towels and extra blankets, and the owner even set out a bottle of Chapagne for our first night! This is definitely a great place for adventurers to start their journey or for couples seeking a romantic getaway.
I stayed at this property for two visits during September. I loved it. It is a beautiful and quiet setting with gorgeous gardens stretching quite far out the back of the property. The views are wonderful. The small home has everything you need and is quite comfortable. Don't miss the cider donuts just down the road at Applecrest Farms. Note also that Applecrest Farm carries everything you need for a wonderful home-cooked meal at the house. No need to go into town.
Everything was as advertised and then some. The owners were very hospitable and addressed any needs promptly. I will be booking this again for my family's next trip to the area.
After a very long drive and arriving quite late and tired, it was a dream come true to open the door and discover we had rented the perfect home for our vacation! This guest house is perfectly decorated and includes all the amenities you would need. For a one bedroom guest house, it is extremely spacious.
We considered ourselves very lucky to be there in the Summer as Hopi had a beautiful vegetable garden and encouraged us to harvest and use as much as we wanted. Talk about a huge plus! Not only throughout our stay, but on the day we checked out, Hopi told us to help ourselves to more vegetables for our drive home! We travel with our two dogs and there was lots of space to walk them on the property. Hopi was very helpful in suggesting the best places to dine and shop. The home is located a short distance from a produce market and "pick yourself" farm. A short drive to the ocean, but still in the farming area of Hampton Falls, the best of both worlds! Hopi, Rick and the children make you feel right at home. We visit New England every Summer and will definitely rent this wonderful guest house again! Thanks, Hopi and Rick
This guest house is exactly as pictured and very comfy. We made Hampton Falls our base, and traveled New Hampshire, Maine and Massachusetts. We loved it and will try to stay again on our next trip north. Hopi was very easy to work with and quick to answer any questions I had.
