The Chalet Les Minés (about 650 m above sea level) is located in a peaceful location and offers a stunning valley view into the traffic-free cul de sac Plainfaing in the middle of the Vosges. (GPS-data 48° 09' 13'' N / 7° 00' 47.21'' E). During the summer, nature lovers, hikers or mountain bikers are in the middle of nature. About 30 minutes away is the area of Hohneck (1362 m above sea level, the 120 m high Martins Wall, which makes the hearts of rock climbers beat faster. The lakes in Xonrupt-Longemer and Gérardmer are 30 minutes away and make different types of water sports possible. Additionally, you can fish with your fishing certificate in the rivers and streams in the area. Horse lovers will find stables nearby with rental horses. During the winter, there are 5 different ski regions with countless winter sport activities.

Chalet „Les Mines“ is situated in a small village Plainfaing in French Vosges, 650 meters above sea level. Turists and mountain bikers will enjoy unspoiled wilderness. Martinswand Wall, a 120 m rock formation well known to rock climbing enthusiasts, is about 30 minutes away. Nearby lakes in Xonrupt-Longemer and in Gérardmer provide ample opportunities for numerous water activities. You must have a valid Fishing License to enjoy fishing in the many creeks and rivers of the area. For those who enjoy horseback riding there are several stables and horse rentals nearby. In the winter, you can ski or snowboard on the 35 runs, serviced by 7 gondolas and numerous lifts in any of the area’s 5 ski resorts. Additionally, there are approximately 50 km of marked cross-country ski trails.

Notes: On the main floor is a comfortably furnished living room with a wood burning stove (for a small charge we will provide wood) combined with a formal dining area (~ 20,5m2 ) to seat 5 persons, fully equipped kitchen (electric stove, microwave, refrigerator/freezer and dishwasher) containing a breakfast nook (~ 10,6 m2 ) for 5 persons. Main living area has heated floors and electric radiators provide heat for the bedrooms upstairs. The large wood deck (~ 30 m2 ) contains outdoor furniture to seat 4 persons. Children play area with sand box and a charcoal grill (there is a small fee for charcoal delivery) are on the property. Secure two car garage is available for your use.

Our week in Vosges was wonderful. The house was all as decscibed and had all things needed. As arrival on saturday did not allow us to do any shopping there were also basic things as coffee, dishwasher tablets and toillet paper. The owner was very friendly and helpful in all respects, he made sure that all things were clear to us, made us feel very welcome, recommended nice restaurants and also things for us to do and see with three kids(3mths,9 and 13 yrs) The area around is really fantastic for any nature lovers - beautiful woods, hills,mountains and lakes. Must be wonderful for winter sports too. The only negative thing for us with baby coming was the fact that many places were not really reachable with a pram and we needed carrier but that was to be expected in mountains. Would truly recommend TARTE FLAMBEE a local type of pizza with strong local cheese, onions and bacon...absolutely fantastic for us grown ups and for kids as well. Lovely historical town of Colmar was a big surprise and definitely worth a visit( if only for wine tasting,shopping and beautiful old buildings)Last but not least..winter tyres strongly recommended as it can be sunny and warm with snow on the peaks.
