Enjoy your vacation to the Kootenays by staying at the gorgeous House on the Hill. This beautiful modern open concept home, a few minutes drive from downtown Nelson, will provide you with exceptional value and one of the most outstanding views of any home in Nelson. Located in the Uphill area with views of the North Shore and Kootenay Lake, surrounded by mountains in all directions. The house is nestled on a corner lot surrounded by older trees with a small pond and lovely gardens. Last year, there were over 30 different fruit and vegetables growing on the property. The home is located in a quiet neighbourhood with plenty of privacy and drive-way parking.
We are one block away from the Rails to Trails, a local walking/biking/nordic ski trail that covers Nelson, or a short drive to Lakeside park or downtown to amazing shops, cafes, and restaurants. We are a 20 minute drive to Whitewater Ski Hill ~ rated some of the best powder in North America, and a 45 minute drive from Ainsworth Hot Springs.
This gorgeous home is fully furnished and has a well appointed kitchen, coffee machine, dishwasher, and gas stove available for your use. There is a beautiful children's room and play space adjacent to the kitchen to keep your littles entertained. There is a flatscreen tv (with movies, no cable) and an Xbox 360 with an assortment of games. Wireless internet access is included. There are two bedrooms ~ The Garden Room with a double bed and a king sized convertible couch in the kids' room. Both rooms have plenty of natural light and beautiful views. One block from the bus stop and one block from the trails, if you're not into driving, we are very accessible.
Come and enjoy the unique charm that makes this beautiful arts town one of the best in North America. Relax by our lovely woodstove on winter evenings after a day of skiing powder, or enjoy breakfast in the summer on our beautiful outdoor deck overlooking the mountains and lake. There is an outdoor fire pit (wood provided) and a comfortable outdoor seating area to relax and take in the view. The area surrounding Nelson is a paradise for mountain biking, skiing, hiking, climbing, boating, fishing and golfing. There is no shortage of great restaurants and cafes to get a taste of Nelson. You can also enjoy the many boutique shops, with locally produced goods; or browse the vendors in either of the two farmer's markets held each week.
Children are, of course, welcome. In addition to the lovely playroom, in the yard you will find a trampoline, slide, and zip line.

Guestbook comments from the owner
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at 'The House on the Hill'. It was easy to find , just straight up the street from downtown. The large beautifully furnished and well equipped house with a number of individual rooms allowed our large family of adult children, including two grandchildren, to spread out and gain privacy when needed. The large open area kitchen/dining/living room made it easy for us to gather together.
Large windows provide great views of the West Kootenay Valley. The grandkids thoroughly enjoyed the back deck and yard - the trampoline was a real highlight for them.
We will certainly consider staying there again - a perfect spot for a family reunion
