Kamilari. Despite the tourism, this picturesque village of 300 souls has still retained its native charm and offers narrow lanes, old and restored stone houses, the barking of dogs and the clucking of hens. It is situated on three hills in the midst of olive and orange groves in the fertile Messara valley. There are several good taverns, not to forget the pizzeria, a cafe and traditional Greek cafes in the village square. Moreover, there are two small supermarkets with a daily supply of fresh bread, a butcher, art and handicraft store and a silversmith for your everyday needs. The sites of Festos, Agia Triada, Gortys and Komos are in the vicintiy and Matala is also not too far away. The beaches of Kalamaki (approx. 2.5 km) and Komos can also be reached quickly. The surroundings offer abundant possibilities for hikes and picnics.
