Our newly adapted apartment is on the ground floor of our house right in the centre of Grein. It consists of a large kitchen (20m2), a bedroom (22m2) with a double bed (2m x 2m) and a bathroom with toilet, bath/shower and washing machine.

Grein is a small town of about 3100 inhabitants dominated by the impressive Greinburg Castle. It is situated on a beautiful bend of the Danube river. Although small and quiet Grein and its surroundings offer a vast variety of leisure activities. It is an excellent starting point for hiking and cycling tours into the romantic Mühl- and Mostviertel or along the well-known long-distance Danube cycling path. Its is easily accessible by car via the A1-motorway (exit Amstetten Ost 20km) or by train (Amstetten 20km or Grein). There are shops, nice cafes and restaurants right in the small historic centre. Greinburg Castle on a steep rock looking over the Danube is a beautiful example of a fortress turned into a renaissance palace. Part of it houses the interesting ‘Schifffahrtsmuseum’ which gives a vivid insight into the history of trade on the Danube. Another highlight is the small central square with baroque style houses.

Cultural activities: Donaufestwochen (festival of baroque music): July - August 2008, Stadtkino cinema, Sommerspiele Grein: July 2008 - theatre production in the historic municipal theatre, Kulturverein: concerts, lectures, etc.

excursions and hiking: Hiking through the impressive Stillensteinklamm is a highlight amongst the many beautiful hikes through the Mühlviertel. Length : 7,5 km.

zentrale Lage, schöner sehenswerter Ort,sehr nette und hilfsbereite Vermieter,schöne große geräumige Ferienwohnung,sehr sauber und gepflegt.Für Personen mit Rückenproblemen sind die Couch und das Bett allerdings ein bißchen zu tief.
