i live in santa fe, but some domestic remodeling led me to find a spot for rent, and i could not have landed in a better spot than casa miguel. the home is simply beautiful. everything from the custom steel frame doors and windows to the african bed throw is tasteful and soulful. the views are breathtaking. the kitchen is a chef's dream. every detail is thoughtful. the neighborhood has real santa fe character and on top of all this, the owners are kind and charming.

The Best of Both Worlds

  • 5 of 5
We have stayed in great Eastside properties before and enjoyed the convenience and ambience. The only problem was, we couldn't see the glorious New Mexico sky and mountains from our rentals. Casa Miguel solves that problem. A great location, a classic Santa Fe home given a modern twist, and the views we go to NM for. The property lives much larger than its stated size, thanks to the large windows and doors that bring the outside in. It was very cold during our stay, but in-floor heating kept it toasty inside.
The kitchen is very well equipped; we lacked for nothing. We will be back!

Great, quiet, near-plaza location

  • 5 of 5
We have stayed in Santa Fe many times, at various hotels and several casitas, and can recommend this casita without reservation. In terms of layout, it is most appropriate for one couple, though you could accommodate a third person on the couch or on a (provided) blow-up bed.

This casita is new construction (which is a big plus!), but has a very traditional feel to it. Appliances, doors, windows, and shades are high-end. Radiant heat throughout the floor is very nice and kept the casita evenly comfortable while the outdoor temps ranged from the teens to the 40s. Bathroom is very nice with lovely tile-work. Very good and ample linens. Lots of halogen lighting with dimmers to adjust the ambiance at night. Skylights that provide great natural lighting throughout the day. Kitchen is very well equipped. And the casita does indeed have a very nice vista that allows you to watch the sun rise and set on the mountains.

We want to stress how nice it was to have a traditional feel but with new construction. It is not uncommon to rent a traditional casita in the area that has a variety of little (or big!) problems that you end up dealing with - not so here - everything works well, and that makes for a more pleasant, trouble-free vacation experience!

The casita is about a 10-minute walk from the plaza assuming you have reasonable mobility (otherwise it's a 3-minute drive to public parking by La Fonda or the Basilica). The setting, uphill a couple of blocks to the north of E. Palace, is residential and very quiet with no through-traffic. As others have mentioned, the owners are friendly, helpful and available, but did not intrude on our privacy whatsoever.

We like the quiet environment and want to retreat from the buzz of activity at the end of the day, so this casita definitely fit the bill for us. We'd highly recommend it to others who feel the same. If you want to stay up partying with others into the wee hours, it's probably better to stay at one of the bigger hotels like La Fonda or El Dorado.

Santa Fe Relaxation

  • 5 of 5
My husband, 9 month old, and I stayed at Casa de Miguel on the Hisotric Eastside in Sante Fe for 4 night/5 days and couldn't have been happier with our VRBO choice. We did not have an agenda when arriving in Santa Fe other than decompressing from our daily routine and work, and we did just that. Our choice of stay was perfect in style, location, size, and was exactly our taste. The house is modern, clean, open, and we appreciated the finer quality details and finishes.

The location was close to the plaza and accessible to pretty much everything even though it is located within a labyrinth of a neighborhood. The photos of the house are an accurate reflection of the property and there is a mountain view from the kitchen window as depicted.

The owners, Christina & Michael, were available if needed but also respected our privacy while vacationing. I would definitely recommend this property without hesitation.
