Photos and Description of the Vermenton vacation house rental
Accommodates 12 people : 5 doubles and one twin bedded room, all ensuite.

Le Moulinot was built as a grain mill in the 18th Century and has been renovated to offer comfortable accommodation for up to 12 guests. The character of the three storey stone building is created by a mixture of wooden beams, hardwood floors, old tiles, antique furniture and decorative fabrics. The sitting room, with fireplace, overlooks the lake-like millpond. There is a large well equipped kitchen which makes it a pleasure to cook Burgundian cuisine. All 6 of Le Moulinot's bedrooms have good beds and private facilities. A laundry room with washing machine and dryer is at your disposition. There is an additional WC on the main level. Terraced areas around the house offer the possibility of sun or shade all day long. The owner's house and another smaller cottage are also on the property and the solar heated swimming pool is shared by all.

Le Moulinot is a five minute walk from the village of Vermenton which has a restaurant, bars and all basic commerce. There is also a public sandy river beach and park, a football pitch and tennis courts. You will find a good restaurant in the neighbouring village of Accolay (a 15-20 minute walk along the canal). The department of the Yonne, the northern part of Burgundy is a land of hills covered with vineyards, forests and pastures as well as narrow valleys with swiftly flowing rivers. This region of Burgundy is sprinkled with art and history treasures: Arcy and its prehistoric caves, Auxerre - a bustling cathedral town with elegant half-timbered and brick bourgeois houses, Vézelay listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, Chablis, Irancy and Côtes d'Auxerre vineyards with wine tastings, Bazoches and its château where Marshal Vauban lived, the Morvan National Park and the site of Guédelon, where a fortified castle is being built in compliance with techniques of the 13th Century.

Le Moulinot ticks all the boxes

It's always a gamble booking accommodationon the net, but Le Moulinot undersells and overdelivers !! The house is very well appointed and the grounds enchanting. Our party (3 couples) from Australia stayed for 8 nights Jun 2010. Le Moulinot ticked all our boxes - we wanted a large comfortable house, easy access by car from Paris, walking distance to a small local village and located in area where we could bike, hike and hot air balloon...or do nothing at all ! Surrounding areas offer lots of history, great food and wines. Le Moulinot exceeded our wildest !
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children

Idyllic house near Chablis

Just to say that we liked Le Moulinot so much we're going back to stay there for a third time with friends from Australia. As always Cinda and Leigh Wootton have been very helpful. Can't wait!

Totally idyllic house near Chablis

We had a fabulously relaxing and stimulating two weeks at Le Moulinot - we like it so much we re-booked for 4 weeks in August 2008!

Le Moulinot is very comfortable and well appointed indeed - one of the loveliest house we have ever holidayed at - the pictures are all accurate. The house is really quite large with large and comfortable communal areas and it is very easy to accommodate 8 or more people - 12 could stay quite comfortably.

The house is a lovely old mill house and is situated between the River Yonne and its own private mill pond (which is crystal clear - fed from a spring) with a large water race running next to the house.

The pool is lovely and large - although not suitable for non-swimming children.

Our hosts were very helpful and totally unobtrusive. Ask them to arrange a wine tour with Brendan - very worth while!

We loved staying at Le Moulinot and can't wait to return again in 2008!
