|Minimum Stay||2 - 5 nights|
Experience the Pacific Northwest at its best! Leave your worries behind and come relax in this beautiful waterfront home with stunning 180 degree views of the Hood Canal and Olympic Mountains.
This 3 bedroom 2 bathroom home sits on a bluff and includes access to a private beach and boathouse via stairs. Stroll along the beach, or explore from one of two tandem kayaks. You'll find sand dollars, hermit crabs, shells and more.
This charming home offers a fully equipped kitchen, outdoor patio with furniture, gas grill, fire pit, satellite TV, and wi-fi. One of the most unique features is the boat house which includes TV, refrigerator, bar and bar stools. This is the perfect spot to sip a glass of wine as you watch bald eagles and osprey soar overhead, or take in the breathtaking sunsets over the Olympic Mountains.
Downtown Poulsbo is a short 10 minute drive where you can explore locally owned art-galleries, antique shops, bakeries, restaurants, coffee shops and wine tasting rooms.
Born and raised on the East coast, my husband and I spent time in the mid-west, the Bay Area, even the Philippines before settling in Kirkland, WA a little over nine years ago. Two children later, we've determined that the Pacific Northwest is truly an amazing place to live and raise a family. Rain and all, we embrace everything that this area has to offer and are happy to call it home!
Alexis Christensen purchased this house in 2012
We purchased this as a second home due to a desire to be near the water and experience the raw beauty of the Northwest. We have enjoyed it so much that we feel the need to share it with others and hope they will love it as much as we do.
The house itself is beautiful and charming, and the views will take your breath away. What really makes this home special are the boathouse and beach area. The boathouse allows you to enjoy the beach and water views no matter what the weather. On warm days you can sit at the bar with a glass of wine or a margarita and enjoy the scenery, and when it's cold you can sip some hot chocolate and turn on the propane heater and still make the most of being by the water.
Our family of four stayed here for several nights in November. The house is charming and beautiful inside with plenty of space and comfortable accommodations. My husband and I awoke early every morning so we could stare at the view of the Olympic Mountain Range - it was captivating! At this location, you are ideally located on the water and near Poulsbo, a charming village you won't want to miss. Our kids enjoyed creating at Kitsap Mosaics and eating salmon burgers at The Loft. A stroll in downtown Poulsbo is a must on your list! We were also in the perfect location to drive to Port Angeles and meander up Hurricane Ridge Rd. Port Townsend, Port Gamble, Gig Harbor, and Tacoma are all short drives from this great place to rest at night. On this trip we did not take the ferry to or from Seattle, but that too would be an easy journey from this home.
We rented this house for family members in town for a wedding and it exceeded all our expectations. The pictures don't do it justice, especially the view, it was amazing. The house was very warm and inviting, and well stocked with everything we needed. We slept 7 adults comfortably, plenty of comfy bedding and pillows for everyone. We hosted the rehearsal dinner and it had plenty of dishes, utensils, paper products, spices and condiments. All we had to buy was the food. There is a big gas BBQ and a fire pit on the back patio overlooking the water and mountains. The patio has a retractable awning for those rainy days too. We loved playing corn hole in the back yard, one of many games available. The beach is beautiful, full of shells and sand dollars. There are a lot of stairs but they are easy to manage. They have lights and landings with benches all the way down and the boat house is a perfect spot to rest or enjoy the view if it's raining. We didn't get to explore the surrounding area very much (never wanted to leave the house) but there was shopping and restaurants within 3 miles. The town of Poulsbo is very cute and has a lot of unique shops to explore. The bakery there is well known and excellent.
The owner was wonderful to work with, very responsive to any questions and very accommodating to our needs. The security deposit was returned in full within 2 days! I would highly recommend this house, you won't be disappointed. I will definitely be using it again myself. Thanks for the hospitality, we had a great time!
We attended a family wedding and decided to add a few days for some sightseeing. The house is beautiful and the photos don't really do it justice. The kitchen is well-equipped and there are games for all ages to play. A long but amazing staircase takes you to a cute boat house right on the water. We used one of the two kayaks and collected shells. The beach is rocky so bring suitable footwear.
Seattle is a short Ferry ride from Bainbridge. Poulsbo is about 10 minutes away and has amazing shops and restaurants. The entrance to the Olympic National Forest is about 1 1/2 hours away with lots of trails and scenic views.
We slept six adults and one child very comfortably.
The owner was very helpful when I had specific questions and was very responsive via e-mail. I can't say enough about her hospitality. Since we have relatives in the area, I hope to return and I hope to stay at Blue Heron again.
We stayed at the Blue Heron House while visiting family who live on Bainbridge Island. This is probably the best rental we have ever stayed in. As soon as I opened the front door, I turned to the rest of the family and said "You've all got to see this". The view from the house is absolutely breathtaking. The home is very lovely, clean and well maintained. The house was fully loaded with all of the basics which was very much appreciated. Having kayaks and games available for entertainment was an added bonus. This home definitely lived up to the photos and then some. Thank you so much for sharing this lovely piece of heaven with us.
I highly recommend staying at the Blue Heron Beach House. It was the perfect getaway for me and my family. The owners were "spot on" with their description of the house. It's a very spacious and clean house with a fully stocked kitchen. It has all of the essentials needed for a comfortable stay. There is a gorgeous view of the Hood Canal and Olympic Mountains. As you walk down to the beach, there is an awesome boathouse that has seating, a refrigerator, and a T.V. It's a perfect place to have appetizers and drinks rain or shine. My son loved collecting sand dollars and rocks on the private beach.
Downtown Poulsbo is nearby. There are great restaurants, cute shops and as my husband says, "the best bakery in the whole world."
I would not hesitate to stay here again. We hope to be back soon!
We arrived at the house only to be completely amazed that it was even better than the pictures. The home was warm and inviting despite its amazing size. Tastefully decorated and fully stocked with everything you would need. The Owners of the property were an absolute joy to work with. If you are looking for a fairytale vacation this is the one for you!
The Blue Heron House is located on the east side of the Hood Canal and faces West for breathtaking views of the Canal and Olympic Mountains. The house has a spacious yard and direct access to the beach and boathouse via stairs. The setting is so serene that you might not want to go anywhere else during your stay! If you do want to get out and sight see, the quaint towns of Poulsbo and Port Gamble are each a short 10 minute drive away. Historic Port Townsend is less than an hour away, and Olympic National Park is approximately one hour.
