Wonderful Lakefront Cabin located on approximately 100' of Lake Huron sugar sand beach. The water is beautiful and clear which makes it great for swimming. The beach is perfectly suited for families with the water being shallow for approximately 30ft. Inside our spacious home, you will find it easily sleeps 08 with a queen bed in the master bedroom, queen bunk beds in the 2nd room, and 3 pullout couches and 2 futons in the living space. In the large family kitchen you will find everything you need including a variety of dishes, a crock pot, coffee pot, griddle, roaster, deep fryer, pots and pans, and lots of counter space. Another great feature is the game room and living room which over look the lakeside patio. Patio furniture and outdoor enmities include a glider swing, chase lounges, a table with umbrella, and a BBQ grill. There is also a beachfront fire pit and a boat dock on the property. The access boat launch is within 200 ft. of our property. You can take long walks along the sugar sand beach, and walk, jog or bike to town on an asphalt bike trail. Downtown Tawas City is a very touristy town with a walking district which includes shops like Ben Franklins, Normans outlet, fudge shops, massage and manicures, a movie theater, restaurants, and more. Tawas has a little bit of everything to make your family vacation special. Book your vacation today!
We stayed there last year and just now got around to posting a review. The home was clean and the location was amazing! The only issue which did not dampen our experience were the beds but it sounds like that is something they will be replacing this year. There was a ton of space, activities to do and the charm of an up north cottage truly had us away from it all. There was ample space for large family meals to prepare and I can't put into words viewing what the sun rise over Lake Huron and hearing the gentle lapping of waves did to my state of mind. :) I also think we only saw 2 mosquitos our entire trip being on Lake Huron! We are hoping to turn our stay into an annual August family event!!

I spent a week with my two daughters and three grandchildren and my little dog--I LOVED it. I haven't relaxed that much in I don't know when. Granted a few things could be cleaned up and/or improved, but come on folks, you are going to a cabin by the lake for a week's vacation. If you want a luxury hotel, then that's where you need to go. If you want part of your childhood back--this is perfect. We didn't care about having to wash any dishes and we used paper plates anyway. What we used we rinsed first and I would do that anywhere I went. The beds aren't perfect but so bring a couple of air mattresses--no big deal, lots of floor space to lay and listen to the ocean. There was nothing like going to sleep at night with the windows open and the sounds of the lake and surf coming in. And the beach is about 25 steps away from the front porch area. Sort of felt as if we had our own beach. Played games on the large table in the "game room" and laughed; put together jigsaw puzzles, cooked meals together and cleaned up together. Summing it up, what are you looking for--the Hilton, then go to the Hilton, a good time with your family building memories without it costing an arm and a leg with lots of room(s)--fun places to go and see--Tawas Lighthouse, beautiful small village with all kinds of shops, nice grocery store so you don't have to buy your groceries before you go (as we did last year not knowing). I do,however, agree that a new shower head would be nice but I guess I could also go jump in the lake--ha! And, if one cares, there is such a story tied up in this cabin, so much charm. I feel like I could write a book and let my imagination go wild. So many things and different styles that spell out the fact that there were plenty of good times involved with the owners and their family. I give it 4 stars just because it was exactly what I was looking for. I care about people and their lives and their stories and something about it all took me back to good times as a child. I have every intention of going back this year again and I'm hoping they will have me and my "brood"!
This house had so much potential to be an incredible getaway, but comes up very short in every area except location. The beds are awful, mattresses must be at least 20 years old you can feel the springs. The futons are not any better. My family had to go buy air mattresses for our stay. The tub needs overhauling. It doesn't need to be a luxury bath, but the cracks and chips in the tub which make it look scary should be taken care of. This house needs a lot of TLC and if only the owner would update everything that remains from the 70s at least, It would be well worth the price maybe even a little more. In this condition, I would not recommend this house to anyone, including family and friends who had expressed interest. The one thing this house has going for it is the incredible backyard, private beach area, which still does not make up for the inside and accomodations.
Absolutely great location. Steps from the beach, minutes from Tawas City. Beach itself was clean and weed free, but rocky once in the water. Very easy to find, and overall a very relaxed setting. Location is on a quiet side street so nice for the kids. Communication with the rental company was always good. Having said that, the actual house and amenities could use some love. Plates were not thoroughly cleaned. We needed to wash all the dishes and silverware before we could use them due to leftover scraps. Renters need to be aware that there are no laundry facilities or dishwasher. Tub was peeling, and beds were creaky and uncomfortable. Overall a nice stay for the location, but a little to be desired from the house itself.
You can enjoy canoeing down the Ausable River, lighthouse nearby, mini putt putt golf, theatre, lots of touristy shops including Ben Franklins, Normans outlet, fudge shops, something for everyone, lots of bars and restaurants. You can enjoy a ride on the Queen Mary down the Ausable River.
