Two spacious fully equipped, 1 bedroom apartment in a spectacular villa located on the sunny south west of Island, with a fantastic sea and mountain view from the balcony.

The tourist approved spacious apartment has a fully equipped open plan kitchen with a microwave, fridge / freezer and coffee maker The spacious open plan lounge has a corner style suite with a folding out bed, cable TV dvd/cd player and the large patio doors give access to the balcony with sun bed, table and chairs where you can enjoy a meal, surrounded by a stunning view over the village of Arco.The bedroom has twin beds, fitted wardrobe, unit and mirror; the balcony can also be accessed from the bedroom patio doors. There is a laundry room, with washing machine, drying frame, iron and ironing board. The fully fitted bathroom has a shower, mirror with power points for shaver and hairdryer. Under cover parking right at the door, with automated gate at end of drive.

These two tourist approved spacious fully equipped holiday rental apartments, in the sunny south west of Madeira, located on the hillside with a fantastic view of the sea and the village of Arco da Calheta with its many banana plantations The apartments are 70m from a local viewpoint, 100m away from the nearest coffee bar; also across the road from the coffee bar there is a fruit and vegetables store and 200m from a well-stocked mini market where you can purchase local fresh bread in the morning and again at 4pm in the afternoon. Located below Casa Serena is a hotel which is open to non- residences there is a path way down to the hotel, around 10 minute walk, the village of Arco da Calheta is a 15 minute walk where you will find a post office, cafe bars, chemist and varies shops.A five minute drive will take you to the village of Calheta with its new golden sand beaches and a marina. You can take a boat trip to see the dolphins and whales, or fish, swim, sail, enjoy the local cuisine.

New fully furnished spacious one bedroom apartment situated on the sunny south west of the island, hillside location with superb mountain and sea view. The spacious open plan lounge has a corner suite with folding out bed, cable TV DVD CD player and the large patio doors give access to the balcony with table and chairs where you can enjoy a meal, surrounded by a stunning view over the Arco valley. The bedroom has twin beds, fitted wardrobe, chair unit and mirror, the balcony can also be accessed from the bedroom patio doors. There is a laundry room with washing machine, iron, iron board and drying frame. The bathroom has a shower over bath, mirror with power points for a shaver and hairdryer. Under cover parking right at the door, with automated gate at the end of the drive. We have books / DVD of interest about the island.

Casa Serena was built in 2003 - 2004 to provide a high standard of accommodation and is personally supervised by the owners.

Absolutely fantastic, you have been so very kind and helpful, will go home with lovely memories of Madeira, Paula Clark England.
We have been absolutely spoilt, thank you so much Best Wishes Kay Page England. Perfect, perfect, perfect we enjoyed our holidays in Arco Da Calheta, the view from the house is very pleasant Matos Family France. Lovely apartment to return to after a days walking Helen & Kevin Woodward. Wonderful apartment, wonderful view, wonderful hosts Pete Clarkson USA. We really loved the apartment and the view was fantastic Carol & Brian Christie Scotland. Excellent, well appointed apartment, kind and helpful host and stunning views Mike & Sandy Lambert England.

Review of Casa de Calheta

Calheta is an ideal place for exploring the West and North of Madeira. It is an altogether different experience than Funchal. The people are still friendly, visitors are still a rarity in some villages, and the walking can be superb.

The apartment is spacious and there are excellent views from the terrace. A hire car is essential to get to local places of interest and get down to Calheta for supermarket shopping and restaurants. Mobile phone signals are very strong at the apartment (and throughout the island) for calls to mainland Europe. There is satellite TV and a DVD player but the lighting is a bit subdued for reading in the evening. The kitchen and clothes washing facilities are excellent although, as usual, previous renters have stripped the "non-stick" off all the frying pans!

There are a number of restauraunts in Calheta. We enjoyed Roche del Mar on the cliff-side of the road where some of the staff have lived for years in South Africa and speak great English (and Afrikaans). Previous experience in Madeira suggests that beef and chicken are the best buys as espada is an aquired taste.

There are many walks on the island but we found that a visit to Encumeada provides a stunning levada and also one of the longest trails. The drive there is spectacular either by Ribeira Brava or by the back-door route from the apartment via Paul de Serra.

This is not a base for Funchal but it is OK to make a day trip there although the nature of the roads (and the driving)suggests a return before it gets dark!

We are located close to some of Madeira’s best lavada walks and close to Vila da Calheta with its beach, marina, shops and restaurants.
P.S we have now installed a reading light in the lounge of the apartment, thanks for the tip, I gather you managed to get threw quite a few books from our apartment library.

We had a wonderful honeymoon in the appartment. The view from the property is just wonderful. The apartment is very clean and well furbished. We can recommend it to everyone!
