These two tourist approved spacious fully equipped holiday rental apartments, in the sunny south west of Madeira, located on the hillside with a fantastic view of the sea and the village of Arco da Calheta with its many banana plantations The apartments are 70m from a local viewpoint, 100m away from the nearest coffee bar; also across the road from the coffee bar there is a fruit and vegetables store and 200m from a well-stocked mini market where you can purchase local fresh bread in the morning and again at 4pm in the afternoon. Located below Casa Serena is a hotel which is open to non- residences there is a path way down to the hotel, around 10 minute walk, the village of Arco da Calheta is a 15 minute walk where you will find a post office, cafe bars, chemist and varies shops.A five minute drive will take you to the village of Calheta with its new golden sand beaches and a marina. You can take a boat trip to see the dolphins and whales, or fish, swim, sail, enjoy the local cuisine.

New fully furnished spacious one bedroom apartment situated on the sunny south west of the island, hillside location with superb mountain and sea view. The fully equipped open plan kitchen has a microwave, fridge/freezer, toaster, coffee maker, kettle and granite top breakfast bar. The spacious open plan lounge has a corner suite with folding out bed, cable TV DVD CD player and the large patio doors give access to the balcony with table and chairs where you can enjoy a meal, surrounded by a stunning view over the Arco valley. The bedroom has twin beds, fitted wardrobe, chair unit and mirror, the balcony can also be accessed from the bedroom patio doors. There is a laundry room with washing machine, iron, iron board and drying frame. The bathroom has a shower over bath, mirror with power points for a shaver and hairdryer. Under cover parking right at the door, with automated gate at the end of the drive. We have books / DVD of interest about the island.

Casa Serena was built in 2003 - 2004 to provide a high standard of accommodation and is personally supervised by the owners.

A perfect holiday

Casa Serena perches half way up a mountain and the views from the balcony are spectacular. The accomodation is spacious and very well equipped and the photos, if anything, don't do the apartment full justice, it really was first rate. Brian and Catherine are wonderful hosts making themselves available for information whenever required or leaving you to your own exploration of Madeira as you wish. We loved the range of options available from sightseeing and beaches through to 'Lavada walking' through the lush countyside or around the rugged hillsides, but it was always great to return to Casa Serena for the friendly welcome and to relax on that balcony.

We booked our holiday from this website and then dealt with Brian direct who made the whole process very straightforward. We will definitely return and can think of no better recommendation than that. Thank you Brian, Catherine and Madeira for a memorable holiday.

Our wonderful 'Casa Serena' holiday (Sept 08)

Our first visit to Madeira couldn't have been nicer. The location, apartment and view were all that one could wish for, posing the difficult decision as to whether to remain on the balcony all day with the customary 'red' or 'white', or to risk a tan on Calheta's superb beach.
The weather was excellent during the two weeks and nothing was too much trouble for Catherine and Brian when any help or advice was required; the perfect hosts. Thanks again for everything.

Marvellous Madeira

The apartment was by far the best, most spacious, clean and well equiped apartments we have every stayed in. The views from the balcony are fabulous.
Brian and Catherine are the perfect hosts very warm and friendly. Two weeks of sun in the middle of January. it was just what we were looking for,We hope to return for more of the same very soon.

Because Casa Serena is only 220m above sea level it enjoys the best of the warm winter sun ,access to the apartments is very easy no steps, entrance off a good but quite road this is a real bonus for Madeira with its steep, narrow, winding roads

Our winter sun holiday the month of February 2008

We had many holidays in Madeira in the 80's and knowing there had been many changes in recent years we sought a holiday in the old Madeira style. In the Calhetta region we found it; quiet and peaceful with beautiful scenery. Our most fortunate find of all were Brian,Catherine and the Serena Apartments. They were the most supportive of hosts presiding over excellent accommodation making us relaxed and at home from the start. We have to mention the balcony and its views. On many days we would remain home,sitting on the balcony,enjoying the beautiful outlook and soaking up the winter sun. many thanks Brian and Catherine we intend to spend time with you again in the near future. Views staight out into the Atlantic.

Last years stay was our second stay with Brian & Catherine and it wont be our last. The location is spectacular if you dont mind heights. The accommodation is of high quality and the owners we think now of as good friends. You need a car to move about. The resort has all you need for a pleasent stay including a good man made beach. The main town Funchal is about half hour away by road where there are endless shops and bars. We intend to return again next year to reaquaint our selves with this lovely location and perhaps look for a property for our retirement.
