We've been dreaming about visiting San Miguel for 12 years - I wish we had put it at the top of our list! All the reviews below are accurate, so I won't repeat them because the broken arm that made us come home in the middle of our visit prevents much typing!
The truly lovely and immaculate villa is just as pictured. What the photos can't capture are the sounds and fragrances of the garden - priceless! Anne, the owner, is a great lady who cares sincerely about her guests' comfort and their town experience. She recommended some wonderful restaurants (especially Hecho en Mexico and El Pegaso) to which we returned often during our two weeks. There is a huge supermarket called Mega where we found everything we wanted. Cabs are plentiful and inexpensive. We used them all the time because my husband has Parkinson's and the walking was challenging for him, but well worth the effort.
Please go as soon as you can to San Miguel de Allende, and stay with Anne if you get the chance. We can't wait to return to her calming "oasis".
I have been coming to San Miguel for 7 years and this was, by far, the best place I've stayed. The villa is open, airy and light filled with tasteful and very comfortable furnishings. There is an abundance of storage, both upstairs and down. All systems are updated and work well. The main floor opens onto a beautifully landscaped and impeccably maintained garden complete with a small lawn - rare for San Miguel. The owner, Anne, is delightful, very helpful and responsive. The location is ideal - an easy walk to Centro, plenty of restaurants in the neighborhood and you can easily flag a taxi, if needed. This place is a gem and I hope to return!
Las Golondrinas was the perfect place to stay in San Miguel de Allende. I slept in the upstairs studio, which was filled with light and had everything you could possibly need. Outside my door, there was a large, beautifully- landscaped terrace. The downstairs rooms are spacious and open; everything was planned for comfort. Two design highlights are the gas fireplace and the garden, a great place to sit and listen to the chorus of birds. With two gates, it is very secure; I always felt safe.
The villa is a true island of tranquility, yet it is just a few minutes away from the vibrancy of San Miguel. On the Ancha de San Antonio, you can find the Instituto Allende, excellent restaurants and small shops for food shopping.
It is a relatively short, flat walk into the center, where you can go to concerts, movies and lectures.
The owner, Anne, was delightful and always very responsive to questions. The maid, who came once a week, was excellent and was always willing to help out in any way she could.
In short, I would definitely go back to this property and can highly recommend it to others.
This well maintained 2 story cottage is light and comfortable. The 1st floor king size bed is comfortable and the room is a good size with an abundance of storage. A comfortable living room has upholstered furniture rather than "traditional" uncomfortable furniture. Everything worked well and if anything required attention the landlord attended to it immediately. The best feature to us was the outside garden and seating area. The beautiful wall of flowers occupied our attention night and day with birds flying in and out.
The landlord is accommodating and delightful. We feel lucky we were able to stay for the month of August as other times were already booked. We would stay here again without hesitation. This is a friendly neighborhood with an Italian restaurant just a few doors away. And just a few blocks away are many wonderful restaurants and conveniences. This is a great place to stay while enjoying san miguel
As an avid traveler who has ventured far and wide, I would like to recommend this property. Although I stayed in Casa B, adjacent to the pictured villa Casa C, I enjoyed my six weeks in one of owner Anne's lovely townhouses in beautiful San Miguel de Allende. Close to a fine language school and the Instituto Allende, the villas' gardens are beautifully maintained, the homes are clean and tastefully decorated, the custodial services are excellent, and the owner both charming and attentive. I especially loved Casa B's two-tiered roof garden and lovely view overlooking the city of San Miguel. I so enjoyed my stay that I plan to return again and again.
San Miguel de Allende is an absolutely beautiful place. And to have been able to find this amazing villa in the middle of it, was the cherry on top!
Anne (the owner) is a very nice lady, and she's always available to help you in any way needed.
I'd like to think of my husband and I as seasoned travelers and have stayed in some really amazing places. Anne's place is absolutely one of them!
Like the heading says, the villa is secure and quiet. It has everything you would need for a comfortable stay.
It also has a BEAUTIFUL garden filled with flowers, that we would stare at all day long. Her gardener Alejandro (nice guy) comes 3 times a week to keep everything looking great. And Isela, a very nice and thorough housekeeper comes once a week.
If you're planning on going to SMA, this is the place you're looking for!
When we go back some day, hopefully Anne will have availability for us to return to this oasis.
Thanks for everything Anne!
