Grants Pass House Rental Photos and Description

3 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom, 6 Sleeps

'Pictures do not do this home justice.' This is what our guests tell us time after time! This fully furnished 2350 sq foot vacation home warmly welcomes you as soon as you walk through the door! With 3 bedrooms and two full baths, a beautiful, stocked, 'cooks' kitchen including pots and pans, dishes, spices etc and separate laundry room, this is your 'home away from home'! We've equipped this home with what we would consider a 4 or 5 star hotel! From the bedding and linens to the travel size necessities you may have forgotten to pack! We include a basic satellite package through Dish Network (guests can request an upgrade during their stay) and wood for use in the beautiful Jotul wood stove during the winter months. The quiet community neighborhood of Colonial Valley is great for walks, bike riding and taking in the area wildlife. Don't be surprised if you see deer, wild turkeys, geese, ducks, squirrels and jack rabbits!

We are located about 10 minutes from the center of Grants Pass and about the same to the town of Merlin. The areas grocery store is located about 2 miles from the house.

Also, we may accept 2 night stays within a week of your desired stay if we have availability during the fall and winter months.

We have used this property the past 5 years to host many business associates in the Talk Radio business. We have enjoyed sharing the 'Oregon Experience' with people from all over the country. We know that you will also enjoy this cozy Northwest home!

Patricia purchased this house in 1989

This property has such a wonderful, cozy setting among large pine trees and is in the peaceful enclave of Colonial Valley just 5 miles from Grants Pass!

The layout of this home captured us when we first viewed it back in 1989. We knew it was for us! The open design and vaulted ceilings just invite you right in! After owning this property as a rental for 7 years we decided to fix it up for our guests that would come for business stays. We designed this to give them the ultimate Oregon experience! We are happy to extend this now to others interested in a 'Home away from Home' here in Grants Pass.

Top Notch

  • 5 of 5
As soon as we walked in the door it was apparent we had picked the right place to spend our time in southern Oregon. The layout of the home is excellent and very inviting. The rooms are plenty big and the beds were very comfortable. We feel in love with the kitchen! Everything we needed to prepare meals was provided. We spent alot of our time at the house on the back porch checking out all the animals that roam the property. Every morning deer would creep down the side of the hill to greet us while having our coffee. The owner is very sweet and will to go out of her way to accomadate anything extra you might need on your trip as well. I could go on and on. Next time we head up that way we will be sure to stay in this home again.

Great home for a woodsy get-away

  • 5 of 5
The home was lovely with comfy beds and a quiet woodland setting. Everything was clean and the kitchen and outdoor BBQ allowed us to cook most of our meals in. Deer came up on the lawn and we saw a doe with her babies--very sweet! Our only issue (and it had nothing to do with the house) was the distance to Ashland. We saw several evening plays and driving 45 minutes back to the house around midnight was a bummer. The house would be a lovely place to spend Christmas with family.

Southern Oregon's Best Kept Secret

Southern Oregon's Best Kept Secret
  • 5 of 5
HOUSE:
During the planning phase of this trip, we previewed many houses for rent and the photos of this house convinced us that we found a house that is clean, comfortably spacious for 6 adults, and very inviting. The furnishings, flooring, and kitchen are newer and of superior quality in comparison to many of the houses at the same price point (which typically displayed well worn, mismatched furniture with pioneer days tiny kitchens.) When we walked through the door, we were instantly impressed and felt right at home. We were pleased with the 2200 sf of space to keep us from feeling crowded. The house is well maintained and I'm sure part of that is due to the owner's request that guests refrain from eating and drinking in the carpeted areas. It was truly no trouble to respect that request particularly due to the open concept layout of the family room, dining room, and kitchen. Nobody felt excluded from activities or conversation and the very large screen TV (guessing it was 60" or better) was clearly visible from all areas. The beds and pillows were extremely comfortable and we all slept great even on the first day, which is a rarity for me as I usually need some time to acclimate to the new environment. We also made use of the available laundry facilities.
By the way, the owner was available and very helpful with any questions concerning the house or local activities.
WILDLIFE:
Deer, grouse, and playful tree squirrels are frequently seen in the front yard.
LOCATION:
Great central location for southern Oregon activities. We did a fair amount of driving on this trip, but we were able to enjoy full days at the Oregon Caves, Crater Lake, and rafting on the Rogue River while still making it back to the house in time to cook dinner. On the last day of our trip, we kept it low key by exploring the quaint and friendly town of Grant's Pass. We strolled through Riverside Park where the Hellgate Excursion launches (we decided to save that adventure for next time we visit), tried to find the 80 bear statues, and shopped the numerous gift shops, boutiques, and antique stores. We topped of the day by eating at the local restaurant "The Laughing Clam." The food was about a 7 out of 10, but had a great atmosphere and excellent service.
I definitely recommend staying here to enjoy a clean and comfortable house. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

Stayed here with my golfing buddies. Great place. The kitchen had adequate utensils and appliances. Only negative comment would be that we ran out of toilet paper and there was none to be found anywhere in the house. Called the owner the next day to inform her, and she left two rolls - for eight women.

Owner's Response: The guests texted me they were out of TP the day before they were to check out... after they left for a long outing for the day. I thought that since they were leaving the next morning, one large roll for each bathroom would be enough, so I brought what I could from my own home just a few blocks away. As I always strive to meet the needs of our guests, I would have responded immediately had they called me and made me aware of the issue. Sorry for the inconvenience ladies!

Please note that if you are a guest in our home, that I am always available to take your call should a problem arise!

Great place for a getaway near Grants Pass

  • 5 of 5
We had a great time at this very spacious and immaculately appointed house. If you are looking for a very quiet, secluded location where you can let your children run and play without any concern, this is a great spot. The drive to the center of town is about 10 mins but I think that the seclusion it offers more than makes up for that. The owners were great to us, even allowing us to extend for a night so we could stay after visiting crater lake which was very convenient. I am sure that we will be back for the paragliding "Rat Race" again and if we are, we will try to rent this place again.

We had an enjoyable stay in your home. The layout worked well for the two couples with each of us having one end of the house.
Our concerns were: the lack of washcloths and bar soap in the bathrooms, the condition of the front deck that seemed to need quite a bit of work and the fact that many of the dishes and utensils in the kitchen were not clean. Also, not being able to have food or drink in the living room did not feel welcoming.
Grants Pass was interesting to visit especially with all of the "bears" spread throughout the city - they were so clever!! We also found the Glass Factory to be a fun stop.
The wineries we visited outside of town that were our favorites were Red Lily and Valley View - very good wine and lovely tasting rooms.
All in all in turned out to be a nice few days away from everyday life.

Owner's Response: *7/6/14 The concerning deck area leading to the front door at the has been replaced.

The lack of washcloths has been addressed, and we do use the hand pump soap. However, if guests do prefer bar soap, we are happy to have some on hand. We were surprised to hear that some dishes and utensils were not clean. That is unfortunate as we do have housekeeping service that has been very thorough in the past. We will make sure to check over their work more meticulously.
Yes we do request that guests eat and drink in the dining/kitchen bar areas. All guests are given this information in the rental agreement under "Care of Home" and are asked to review it before booking with us. We have also begun to include the "Care of Home" section in our emails so that guests are aware of this before a booking email with rental agreement is sent. It is unfortunate that this has caused any unwelcomed feelings as we want all of our guests to be utterly welcome! This particular request though, has been one reason why we have been able to keep our home in such good condition. We know that most of our guests have appreciated this.
As far as the deck goes, we were made aware from the previous guests upon their departure (they stayed 3 months) about an area of the deck that needed attention. However, there was not enough time between the previous guests and these guests to have the area of the deck repaired. We apologize for this and will repair this as soon as possible, then post when completed. We do feel that the area that is in need of repair does not impair the enjoyment of our home.
