''You should have been here yesterday. Three feet of fresh powder overnight closed the highway both ways. The only people on the mountain slept in the valley''. You and your guests can be the people saying this. Powder days like this don't happen often but they are why I love my Kirkwood home. If you are fortunate enough to have to stay over because the roads are closed your extra night will be free.
My home is an exceptionally comfortable place where friends can relax after a day on the slopes or hiking.
There are private bedrooms for four couples. The third floor has a large master suite and the first floor has three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The middle floor greatroom is where the fun happens.
The exhibition kitchen anchors one end of the first floor greatroom. The counter seats 5 consultants who can advise chefs preparing meails in the Viking kitchen (2 ovens 4 burners, grill griddle). There is a great set of cookware including food processor, mixer and and even a waffle iron. When your meal is prepared there is comfortable seating for all guests at the large dinning table.
After dinner relax in custom lodge style seating while watching moonlight on Thimble Peak and the Kirkwood slopes. There is one 55 inch HDTV in the greatroom and the second 55 inch HDTV in the first floor family room has a 5.1 sound system. Of course, the home has high speed WIFI internet.
My home is located in the Kirkwood's exclusive (and quiet) East Meadows neighborhood. The Kirkwood Mountain Village and lifts are less than a mile away. Kirkwood Mountain provides an on-call door to slopes shuttle during lift operations. Cars can stay in garage for your entire stay.
Housekeeping, grocery shopping, and personal chef are all available through Alpine Home Services.
We had such a fabulous stay at Dean's house in Kirkwood. We were a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids). We also had another family stay with us for the first weekend and the 8 of us fit in the house very comfortably. It was in the lovely East Meadows area, and very close to the mountain village. We were there for 7 nights which covered Presidents weekend. We used the shuttle on the weekends because it was so busy and they change $20 to park at the village. The shuttle was awesome. You get ready, stand out the front of the house, call a number, tell them where you are and they give you an ETA which was usually around 2-4 minutes. The people who work on the shuttles were great too - they handed out granola bars and hershey kisses whenever you got on the bus, sweet.
The house was perfect and very beautiful. When you walked in you were blown away with the view, the main living area was all windows which gave us a lovely view every day. There was a big comfy couch that looked out over the view, a great dining table that seated 10 and a massive tv. THere was also an additional small table that originally I thought made the living area very busy but it ended up being useful as we set up monopoly and scrabble for the kids and didn't have to clear it when we wished to eat. The kitchen had everything that you would want, we cooked every night that we were there (there is a small general store to help stock up supplies), the kitchen was nicer than the one I have at home! I loved all the labels on the cupboards and drawers so you knew where to put everything back, I had a giggle at some of them.
The master bedroom was up a small flight of stairs and was lovely. The king bed was so comfortable, it was hard to get out in the morning. THere was a large ensuite, with a massive bath.
There were 3 additional bedrooms downstairs with 2 bathrooms. There was a small living area downstairs too. THere was a massive tv in this room but we could not work out how to use it, except for dvds. We had a techo friend staying with us and he couldn't work it out either - maybe some instructions would be helpful? It wasn't a deal breaker though, there was a tv in the main living room which we mainly used.
I really loved our stay, even thought the snow wasn't fantastic, this will definitely be considered our best ski week, and we will be back! Dean was a gem to deal with, great with getting back to me. Thanks Dean!
This was a great rental property. My husband and I decided last minute to take the kids up to the snow, on the biggest holiday weekend, and we found this amazing house. Everything was fantastic. Big, roomy house with space for lots of people (there were 4 of us). It was easy to get into and close to the slopes. I am so happy to have found this place, and we will most definitely be back!
I've had the good fortune to stay in one of the (much) pricier homes in the Palisades development at Kirkwood, but I wasn't paying for that. When it was time to spend my own money, I'm so glad we chose this home. Definitely felt like we got a lot of bang for our buck. We were two families -- four adults and four kids. The house was perfect for us. Enough room for the kids to sprawl out (TVs upstairs and downstairs), a great counter for relaxing while people cooked, a dining table long enough to accommodate all of us, and wonderful views out of the large windows (floor to ceiling, if I recall correctly). The kitchen had everything you could possibly need, and was incredibly well organized, down to the labels for everything. The upstairs master bedroom was fabulous, the downstairs ones a bit less so. Room in the garage for two vehicles (don't back in though, as the carbon monoxide detector is pretty sensitive and went off when we started the cars, which triggers the alarm, prompting a frantic call from the owner -- sorry about that, again :)). Shuttle service to/from the lifts is a great, no-charge amenity. The owner was a pleasure to work with. I'd definitely go back if the opportunity arises.
We stayed in this beautiful cabin for a family reunion, along with two other places as well. What an amazing layout and comfortable place! It was perfect! We could not have asked for a more comfortable, enjoyable experience! Thank you!!
I stayed at this place with a group of friends who were all doing The Death Ride this year. We all agreed that this place made the trip even better. I booked the place and all my friends were very complementary of the choice and were very happy...no complaints. It was perfect for hanging out, cooking together and socializing. The neighborhood is very nice and the condition of the place is very good. Plenty of cooking supplies (pans, knives, etc.) and the furniture, beds, etc. were in great condition. I hope to come back with my family and friends given how spacious and comfortable we found the place.
We had a great time at Kirkwood and loved the house! So much room, great views, fun kitchen to cook in and clean! We hiked and fished and planning on going back next year! Only next time for a week! Dean was very easy to work with, very prompt with answers and advice!
