About Jimmie Walters

Andrew and Jimmie divide their time between Duluth, GA, Augusta, and their hideaway in Dahlonega. They are blessed with 2 beautiful daughters and their families, including 4 grandchildren. Originally purchased as a family getaway, Frog Call has been evolving for over 15 years, with the dream of sharing this peaceful, nurturing place come true, like pieces of a puzzle fitting together.

Jimmie Walters purchased this cabin in 1997

Why Jimmie Walters chose Dahlonega

The search for a mountain getaway spanned 2 years. Starting off on a personal tour with the Chapman family owners, by the time they forded West Cane Creek in the old jeep, Jimmie had tears in her eyes, and the search was over. The 50 plus acres of lush forest, meadows, streams, the trails, the end of road privacy and bordered by national forest, all creating peaceful seclusion from the outside world. And located just over one hour from Atlanta, and 6 miles from the Square.

What makes this cabin unique

The Cherokee Indians chose the Dahlonega area to settle for good reason. Starting with that wonderful slice of land, and an old caretakers' cottage given new life, the cozy living quarters have cautiously been expanded, allowing nature in, with a minimum of disturbance to the beautiful, natural surroundings, adding the breathtaking treehouse with queen size bed and 30 ft. bridge, and bunkhouse with hand crafted bunk beds. Organic gardens thrive in the meadow, by the pond.

In every instance the right people have shown up, bringing their gifts to take it to the next level of development. Whether it was funds needed, ideas for sharing, treehouse visions, an amazingly talented architect and team, an organic farming family, a nature loving landscape company, an out of work builder, flower garden gifts, or a husband who knew how to build ponds, what has been created is a totally unique, soul reviving escape. Add to that local individuals who can create a personalized experience for you with their talents and knowledge of the area.

'There are a 1000 ways to kneel and kiss the ground.' Rumi~

Beautiful, peaceful get-away

  • 5 of 5

Frog Call Camp was the perfect spot for a weekend getaway with our family. The house had plenty of room and such luxuries as heated tile floors in the bathroom and a gorgeous spa-like master bathroom! The land was beautiful from the pond with waterfall and canoe, the trails, tree house, creek, and bunkhouse. We saw a group of 6 white-tailed deer leaping across the garden one morning! Our dogs loved exploring and we loved sitting on the screened porch overlooking the pond. Jimmie was so sweet - ready with suggestions for things to do in the area, checking in on us, and very responsive to emails. We will definitely be back!

Family memories at Frog Call

  • 5 of 5

Recently we went to Dahlonega, GA for a wedding. We stayed three days at Frog Call and came away with memories of a lifetime. Our family of 6 adults and 4 children turned a wedding trip into a mini vacation.

We had beautiful North GA weather to explore the 50 + acres which included a pond with a waterfall, a meadow where we probably would have seen wildlife if we had been a little quieter and hiking trails through the woods. The leaves were just starting to change and there was just enough nip in the air to make you enjoy a good cup of coffee on the porch swing as the fog lifted in the early morning. The kids enjoyed fishing and riding in the canoe while the adults slept in a hammock while letting the waterfalls put them to sleep.

My words could never describe the Tree House or Bunk House where some of our family spent the night. It was like fancy camping in the middle of the woods. The Tree House has two streams that run under it and had its own little falls for your sleeping enjoyment.

The main cabin had its own unique features. Our favorite was the Master bathroom. The shower and bathtub had a view that will make you want to return again. Another family favorite was the screened in porch where the early risers drank coffee and enjoyed nature,

Thank you, Jimmie, for sharing your vacation home with us and being so friendly and easy to communicate with during our planning and actual trip

Relaxing, One-of-a-Kind Private Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We visited the property as a group of six adults from across the country and had an wonderful time in Dahlonega. The main cabin provided us plenty of room to cook, dine, and reconnect. We started and ended each day on the spacious porch overlooking the beautiful pond.

We enjoyed exploring the light hiking trails on the property and relaxing at the rock dock by the pond. Our friends staying at the Tree House loved the experience. We did not use the Bunkhouse, but it was an charming addition to property. While the cabin was secluded in the woods, we were only 10 minutes from downtown Dahlonega, restaurants, and river tubing.

The owners were amazing and incredibly helpful while planning the details of our visit. We all look forward to our next chance to return.

Family Wedding Plus

  • 5 of 5

My extended family travelled to Dahlonega for my brother's wedding and we stayed at this beautiful cabin. The cabin, bunkhouse and treehouse were wonderful. My children loved feeding the fish in the pond behind the cabin. Overall a wonderful, family friendly place to stay and I would definitely recommend it.

Enchanting Frog Call

I am an art instructor who takes artists all over the world for Plein air painting adventures. Deciding to conduct an art retreat in beautiful Dahlonega Georgia I found Frog Call. This magical place was everything and so much more than we expected. Jimmie the owner was amazing, the main house enchanting, the bunk house and tree house beautiful and the grounds takes your breath away. We would rate this wonderful place a 10+ !

Perfect for a Staff Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Our group was fortunate to spend three days at Frog Call in early June. The property was beautiful, with the open meadow, pond, huge shade trees, and soft ferns. The accommodations were perfect as several in our group stayed in the main house, and a couple shared the darling little bunk house. One lucky lady had the amazing Tree House all to her self, while others pitched their tents in the meadow.

We could not have asked for better accommodations, and look forward to returning both as a group, and as individuals.
