Pahoa House Rental Photos and Description

3 Bedrooms, 2.5 Bathrooms, Sleeps 6

Welcome to our lovely ocean-front home only feet from the deep blue Pacific!! We built this stunning home in 2013 to share our love for Hawaii's east coast with others. It is a three bedroom, 2-1/2 bath direct ocean-front home with sweeping blue water views from Hilo to the southeastern tip of Hawaii. A large wrap-around lanai and wall-to-wall windows maximize the feel and openness of the living areas and provide amazing views! There is a master bedroom with a king-size bed on the main floor and two bedrooms upstairs - one with a queen bed, and one with two twin beds. Every bedroom boasts a beautiful ocean view of the dramatic shoreline!

The home is replete with brand new top-of-the-line appliances and equipment. It is completely turn-key with everything you would want and need for the perfect vacation. All rooms are tastefully appointed with teak, bamboo, and mango wood furniture creating a feel of old-Hawaii in a comfortable, contemporary setting. The custom kitchen is outfitted with everything you need to create gourmet meals for your friends and family. We've provided three flat screen TVs with 140 TV channels, board games and more for your enjoyment. Wireless internet will keep you connected to your own home and business - if you really feel you must!!

Activities are endless here in Puna. Hiking, swimming, snorkeling, surfing and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park are all just easy scenic drives away. The hip town of Pahoa is an effortless 15-minute drive away and offers boutique shops, multi-ethnic restaurants, and fully-stocked health food and grocery stores.

Our home is approximately 35 minutes south of Hilo airport and is situated in a quiet and peaceful neighborhood. The friendly atmosphere offers a great place to walk, run or stroll through Hawaii's incredible nature. We offer our home as a wonderful resting place and base for a memorable tropical get-away for you, your friends, and family!

Much aloha!

Why Andree Chapman chose Pahoa

It was our dream to build a house in Hawaii and have the opportunity to share it with others. We chose the East side of the Big Isle because of its tranquility and raw nature.

What should I say. Nothing that one can write does justice to this house and the things you can see in this great area of the Big Island.

We had a wonderfull time in Hale Aikalani. What a beautiful and well maintained house and what a location.

We did visit uncle Robert's on Wednesday evening in Kalapana and had a warm and welcoming evening.

We drove through the beach access road (beautiful tropical forest) to the Kapoho Tide Pools to snorkel and to swim in the Ahalanui hot spring. That was a nice trip.

And we spent a full day visit to the extraordinary Volcano Nat Park.

On the way to and from Pahoa, we also hiked Waipio valey and visited Honokaa as well as Akaka Falls and the scenic drive north of Hilo.

A full program for 3 days, we wished we could have stayed a bit longer.

Andrée and David, thank you for facilitating a great memory.

And please keep providing such excellent service to future guests, at some time we might be back ...

Beautiful and comfortable

  • 4 of 5

Really enjoyed the location. In a quiet neighborhood. Not close to a beach to swim in but there is a beautiful drive called the Red Road Melissa told us about. We took her advice and drove it all the way to Uncle Robert's. On the way back stopped at the Tide Pools. Probably the neatest thing we did on our trip. The whole family enjoyed it (ages 8-50). Bought snorkeling gear at Long Drugs before we headed out. That is the only reason for 4, there was not any gear to use but not a huge deal.

Expectations exceeded

From the moment we walked in, we knew we were in for a treat. We were greeted with fresh flowers, tropical fruit and a welcome note. The home apprears to be practically new with upscale features throughout. The view from almost every room included waves and beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The location was wonderful for exploring this side of the island.

Ocean enthusiasts

We enjoyed 10 days at Hale Aikalani and really loved the house. If you want a house where the ocean roles right up to the lanai and drowns out the sound of world and its issues this house really does it. Main floor is virtually a wall of glass doors that open to allow the breeze and sounds of the surf to fill the house. Really lovely. Very nice, thoughtful owners and great caretaker who lives in town.

Beautiful home in a great location!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for 6 nights in this beautiful home. Although most days were rainy, the lush surroundings and the constant sound of the ocean made it lovely. We traveled easily around the entire island and were able to experience all of the wonders of Hawaii. The home is clean and well-appointed. Melissa, the caretaker, is a wealth of knowledge. We would absolutely recommend this home to anyone.

Truly Beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

This is a very beautiful house with all the luxury you can think of. Ocean view is fantastic. Absolutely clean and very well kept. The only thing that was a bit misleading is the picture that goes with it. It's not as secluded as it looks in the picture, but has neighbors left and right. But that was no problem at all!

Hawaii Island isn’t just big, it’s still growing. The Island of Hawaii is the youngest island in the Hawaiian chain and is also by far the biggest, providing a vast canvas of environments to discover a variety of unrivaled natural wonders. This is the home of one of the world’s most active volcanoes (Kilauea), the tallest sea mountain in the world at more than 33,000 feet (Maunakea), the most massive mountain in the world (Maunaloa) and the largest park in the state (Hawaii Volcanoes National Park). All but two of the world’s climate zones can be found on the island and generate everything from lush rain forests to volcanic deserts, snow-capped mountaintops to beautiful black sand beaches. Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway or a journey off the beaten path, you’ll discover it all on Hawaii, the Big Island.

Exploring the Puna District: To the south of Hilo, this area on the eastern tip of the Big Island stretches from the sea to the 4,000-foot summit of Kilauea volcano. On the coast you’ll find roiling ocean, black-sand beaches and a spring warmed by the volcano’s steam. Towards the volcano you’ll find rainforests, steam vents and the rugged landscapes of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.

Puna’s most dramatic destination is Kalapana, a community that is partially covered by lava. In 1990, lava from Kilauea engulfed this historic town and the black sand beach at Kaimu. Today, the focal point is a viewing area where you can watch lava meet the sea. You can also explore the 17-acre Lava Tree State Park where a path winds through the lava rock molds of trees from the 1700’s. Many who live on Big Island say that Puna is Pele’s workshop, where the tempestuous Volcano goddess continuously creates and recreates the very land we live on.

Stop off at Pahoa, an old mill town that now features a row of clapboard shops and eateries along an inviting boardwalk. If it’s the weekend, detour at the roadside Makuu Farmers Market and stock up on fresh apple bananas, roasted macadamia nuts, Kapoho strawberry papayas and sweet rambutan. In contrast to the fields of black lava, the fertile slopes between the sea and volcanic summit are ripe with tropical fruit, orchids, anthuriums and macadamia nuts.

You’ll also find a scenic 12-mile string of beach parks and camp sites along the coast, each offering something worth exploring: MacKenzie State Park (heiau, ironwood forest), Isaac Hale Beach Park, Ahalanui Park (large seaside pond warmed by the volcano), and Waiopae Tidepools Marine Life Conservation District (incredible snorkeling among connecting tide pools). Kehena Beach is a secluded black sand beach hidden from view of the roadway.

Along the easternmost point of Hawaii Island is the Cape Kumukahi area, which offers scenic hiking, and what scientists insist is the world’s freshest air. Visit the Cape Kumukahi Lighthouse, which was spared by Pele from lava flow in 1960. You can also join the locals and hike a little over a mile south to Kapoho Bay where another coastal bath geothermally heated by Kilauea volcano can be found. Visit Puna to find amazing off-the-beaten-path discoveries.
