STUNNING OCEANFRONT, 3BR/2.5 BATH

Pahoa House Rental Photos and Description

3 Bedrooms, 2.5 Bathrooms, Sleeps 6

Welcome to our lovely ocean-front home only feet from the deep blue Pacific!! We built this stunning home in 2013 to share our love for Hawaii's east coast with others. It is a three bedroom, 2-1/2 bath direct ocean-front home with sweeping blue water views from Hilo to the southeastern tip of Hawaii. A large wrap-around lanai and wall-to-wall windows maximize the feel and openness of the living areas and provide amazing views! There is a master bedroom with a king-size bed on the main floor and two bedrooms upstairs - one with a queen bed, and one with two twin beds. Every bedroom boasts a beautiful ocean view of the dramatic shoreline!

The home is replete with brand new top-of-the-line appliances and equipment. It is completely turn-key with everything you would want and need for the perfect vacation. All rooms are tastefully appointed with teak, bamboo, and mango wood furniture creating a feel of old-Hawaii in a comfortable, contemporary setting. The custom kitchen is outfitted with everything you need to create gourmet meals for your friends and family. We've provided three flat screen TVs with 140 TV channels, board games and more for your enjoyment. Wireless internet will keep you connected to your own home and business - if you really feel you must!!

Activities are endless here in Puna. Hiking, swimming, snorkeling, surfing and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park are all just easy scenic drives away. The hip town of Pahoa is an effortless 15-minute drive away and offers boutique shops, multi-ethnic restaurants, and fully-stocked health food and grocery stores.

Our home is approximately 35 minutes south of Hilo airport and is situated in a quiet and peaceful neighborhood. The friendly atmosphere offers a great place to walk, run or stroll through Hawaii's incredible nature. We offer our home as a wonderful resting place and base for a memorable tropical get-away for you, your friends, and family!

Much aloha!

We enjoyed 10 days at Hale Aikalani and really loved the house. If you want a house where the ocean roles right up to the lanai and drowns out the sound of world and its issues this house really does it. Main floor is virtually a wall of glass doors that open to allow the breeze and sounds of the surf to fill the house. Really lovely. Very nice, thoughtful owners and great caretaker who lives in town.

Beautiful home in a great location!

  • 5 of 5
We stayed for 6 nights in this beautiful home. Although most days were rainy, the lush surroundings and the constant sound of the ocean made it lovely. We traveled easily around the entire island and were able to experience all of the wonders of Hawaii. The home is clean and well-appointed. Melissa, the caretaker, is a wealth of knowledge. We would absolutely recommend this home to anyone.

Truly Beautiful!

  • 5 of 5
This is a very beautiful house with all the luxury you can think of. Ocean view is fantastic. Absolutely clean and very well kept. The only thing that was a bit misleading is the picture that goes with it. It's not as secluded as it looks in the picture, but has neighbors left and right. But that was no problem at all!

Great house

  • 5 of 5
Awesome house!! The views from the house and deck were incredible!! We could have sat on the deck everyday. It rained everyday but just wait 10 mins and it was sunny again. The puna district was very interesting. Was not touristy like Kona, which was nice for peace and quiet but the downside was no beaches and hard to get into the ocean. We were looking for something away from the crowds and we found it. The neighborhood was quiet, clean and safe. The house was in perfect order and was just fantastic. The whole family had a great time. We would differently return and rent this house again!

Beautiful new house with amazing views

  • 5 of 5
We rented this place with another couple. We have been vacationing together every year now for over 10 years and usually rent a house on vrbo.com wherever we go. This house is by far the best we have gotten. It is beautiful and the views are breathtaking. I sat on the lanai and in the living room for a full day taking them in while working on college courses. This is a great place to be home base while being a tourist on this side of the island and an awesome place if you are just looking to relax. We really enjoyed doing both on our short visit.

Melissa the caretaker is great and very friendly. She greets you at the door with a hug and gives you a personal tour of the house. She also has great recommendations of place to go and things to see.

The town of Pahoa is charming and we enjoyed the local restaurants. Kaleo's was awesome the first night and was OK the second night. We also really liked Cafe Pesto in Hilo. Another great place for lunch is What's Shakin just north of Hilo. We have been to the big island 4 times and have eaten there every time.

Amazing luxury awaits at this oceanfront home with all the amenities

  • 5 of 5
This home is absolutely amazing. My husband and I, plus my elderly mother and my two school-age children spent a full week here and loved every minute. We were looking for a relaxing place to use as our home base as we explored the Hilo and Volcanoes side of the island. This fit the bill perfectly. It's located outside of the adorable little town of Pahoa, which has better restaurants than Hilo. It's also close to some amazing tide pools where you can literally just climb off some lava rocks into warm water and snorkel with amazing fish, no real swimming required. This house had very high end appliances, to include a great jetted tub in the first-floor master suite that I used every day. Everything that was provided was high end, such as very nice silverware, towels, coffee mugs for when we wanted to leave early and take our coffee with us, etc. There were even toys in the kid's rooms and some novels and games in the downstairs closets. The beds were memory foam and very comfortable, even some of the pillows were memory foam. Leather sofas, brand new flat-screen tv's, fast internet, big beach towels, a really nice dining table and a stereo with some Hawaiian music cd's really helped us enjoy the vacation. We loved being able to park our rental car in the garage, too.

But of course the thing that really sets this property apart is the closeness to the water. We loved listening to the waves crash on the rocks and watching the white surf spray. You're so close that on a rough day you might get some sea mist as far up as the lanai (Hawaiian word for porch). My mom isn't as adventurous as the rest of us, so she spent several days just enjoying the waves and looking for whales and turtles on the lanai.

The town of Pahoa is very cute, and has some nice restaurants, better than the ones we tried in Hilo. We tried and loved the Tin Shack Bakery (fun hippie atmosphere), and Kaleo's Bar and Grill (GREAT food!).

We would absolutely recommend this place again with no hesitation, and have already told some family to book it now, before it gets too popular and they increase the price!

Hawaii Island isn’t just big, it’s still growing. The Island of Hawaii is the youngest island in the Hawaiian chain and is also by far the biggest, providing a vast canvas of environments to discover a variety of unrivaled natural wonders. This is the home of one of the world’s most active volcanoes (Kilauea), the tallest sea mountain in the world at more than 33,000 feet (Maunakea), the most massive mountain in the world (Maunaloa) and the largest park in the state (Hawaii Volcanoes National Park). All but two of the world’s climate zones can be found on the island and generate everything from lush rain forests to volcanic deserts, snow-capped mountaintops to beautiful black sand beaches. Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway or a journey off the beaten path, you’ll discover it all on Hawaii, the Big Island.

Exploring the Puna District: To the south of Hilo, this area on the eastern tip of the Big Island stretches from the sea to the 4,000-foot summit of Kilauea volcano. On the coast you’ll find roiling ocean, black-sand beaches and a spring warmed by the volcano’s steam. Towards the volcano you’ll find rainforests, steam vents and the rugged landscapes of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.

Puna’s most dramatic destination is Kalapana, a community that is partially covered by lava. In 1990, lava from Kilauea engulfed this historic town and the black sand beach at Kaimu. Today, the focal point is a viewing area where you can watch lava meet the sea. You can also explore the 17-acre Lava Tree State Park where a path winds through the lava rock molds of trees from the 1700’s. Many who live on Big Island say that Puna is Pele’s workshop, where the tempestuous Volcano goddess continuously creates and recreates the very land we live on.

Stop off at Pahoa, an old mill town that now features a row of clapboard shops and eateries along an inviting boardwalk. If it’s the weekend, detour at the roadside Makuu Farmers Market and stock up on fresh apple bananas, roasted macadamia nuts, Kapoho strawberry papayas and sweet rambutan. In contrast to the fields of black lava, the fertile slopes between the sea and volcanic summit are ripe with tropical fruit, orchids, anthuriums and macadamia nuts.

You’ll also find a scenic 12-mile string of beach parks and camp sites along the coast, each offering something worth exploring: MacKenzie State Park (heiau, ironwood forest), Isaac Hale Beach Park, Ahalanui Park (large seaside pond warmed by the volcano), and Waiopae Tidepools Marine Life Conservation District (incredible snorkeling among connecting tide pools). Kehena Beach is a secluded black sand beach hidden from view of the roadway.

Along the easternmost point of Hawaii Island is the Cape Kumukahi area, which offers scenic hiking, and what scientists insist is the world’s freshest air. Visit the Cape Kumukahi Lighthouse, which was spared by Pele from lava flow in 1960. You can also join the locals and hike a little over a mile south to Kapoho Bay where another coastal bath geothermally heated by Kilauea volcano can be found. Visit Puna to find amazing off-the-beaten-path discoveries.
