“Mama said we had to let those rooms out...”
So we’re inviting you to enjoy our cabin as much as we do!
The Treehouse is a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom cabin nestled in the trees in the South Toe River Valley of Burnsville, NC just minutes from fresh water fishing, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and Mount Mitchell Golf Course. Enjoy some of the best hiking, golfing, and scenery in Western North Carolina. Of course, there’s also a lot to be said for porch sitting, and relaxing at night by a crackling fire. Luckily, we have that too!
Staying at the Treehouse has all the best aspects of staying in a cozy cabin in the woods, with all the conveniences you need to maintain the creature comforts of home. When you step out onto the oversized deck you are surrounded by the natural landscape of beautiful Western North Carolina, with no major roads, noisy neighbors or obstructive views, instantly drawing you into the sights, sounds, and smells (ahhh the smells) of the valley. Pour yourself a beer or glass of wine and grab an adirondack; you are staring at Mt. Mitchell, the tallest peak East of the Misssissippi River. Grill out and dine on the deck, when it cools down, cozy up in front of the stone fire place, and when you’re plum tuckered from too much fun & relaxation, snuggle into some of the comfiest bedding you’ve ever slept in; there’s no night’s sleep like a night sleeping in the Mountains. On a morning or evening walk it’s not uncommon to see deer in the meadow right above the property, and of course, we’re only a hop from the Golf Course, a skip from the beautiful South Toe River (complete with numerous waterfalls), and a jump from the amazing Blue Ridge Parkway!
Asheville is only an hour away with some of the most amazing restaurants, breweries and live music as well as the Biltmore House and the Grove Park Inn.
Welcome to our Treehouse! We are James & Cameron McKeever. We live full time in Ozona, Florida, a small fishing village on the West coast of Florida near the Clearwater Beach area. Throughout our travels of the US, we have discovered and hold true to the belief that these are the best two places a person can possibly find! We try to spend as much time at the Treehouse as we can, and it is truly our second home, not just a rental. We only hope you enjoy staying in our home as much as we do!
James McKeever purchased this cabin in 2005
We found the Treehouse while visiting the area with a friend who also had property in the South Toe River Valley. Out of the five or six properties we looked at, this was the first and only I (Cameron) needed to see. When we walked in, it felt exactly like my Grandfather’s cabin we used to stay in growing up as a kid. We had the greatest memories of that little cabin in the woods, and couldn’t wait to make our own. With James surrendering to the fact that there’s simply no competition for fond memories, we bought it in 2005, and over the past several years not only have we put our blood, sweat, tears and hearts into it (we just call it ‘good mojo’), but we have fallen head over heels in love with the South Toe Valley, and Asheville. Leaving is always a heartbreak.
House is away from road and private with huge open deck nestled in the trees, and view of Mount Mitchell. Inside amenities include new appliances, new HVAC, new bedding & new fireplace. Open living room with wall of windows brings the outside in. Feels like a cozy cabin in the woods but with all the modern conveniences.
We wanted a getaway in the cool mountains near Mt Mitchell with hiking, biking and mountain streams and we got it with this perfectly located private cabin. Wall to wall windows made you feel like you were looking out onto your own private scenic mountaintop and we were right at home and enjoying the expansive deck and the privacy. We spent the entire month, enjoying the nearby hiking trails, fishing and taking our mountain bikes out! My husband is a chef and the kitchen had all we needed to prepare gourmet meals, the wood fireplace was inviting and the furniture was comfortable and relaxing. Don't forget the nice King Size bed! We appreciated the wifi and the satellite to keep abreast of what was happening in the outside world while we drifted away on our time away from everything.
The Treehouse is the perfect spot for a relaxing getaway! The location is great...off the beaten path and surrounded by lots of beautiful nature. A couple of towns are located close enough that getting food and other supplies is not an issue.
The cabin itself is so cozy and comfortable and has everything you need. The kitchen is nicely stocked with pans (cast iron too!), dishes, utensils, and basic spices and staples. We made the majority of our meals at the cabin because it was so convenient. The living room/dining area has amazing views through the floor to ceiling windows and charming and comfortable furnishings. There is a beautiful stone fireplace but it wasn't cold enough for us to use it on this trip (maybe next time!). A huge wrap-around deck on the back of the cabin can be accessed through sliding glass doors in the living room. The view from the deck is spectacular! We spent a lot of time in the adirondack chairs on the deck just admiring the sights and enjoying the clean mountain air.
My husband and I were the only ones on this trip so we only used the master bedroom. The bed is heavenly and like sleeping on a cloud! The linens are good quality and so nice to snuggle up in. We slept great the entire time we were there. Both bedrooms and the loft are nicely decorated and have lots of space to store your stuff.
The surrounding area is quiet and peaceful. The cabin is located close to the Blue Ridge Parkway. We had fun exploring the parkway and the road that runs along the South Toe River. We saw deer, groundhogs, and wild turkeys while out and about. Hummingbirds visited the deck every day. There are also hiking and fishing locations nearby. The cabin has a TV and several reading options if you decide to stay inside for the day.
The owners of the property are great and sooo helpful. They were easy to communicate with, answered all of our questions, and gave us a lot of useful information about the area. You can tell that they love the Treehouse and the property is very well maintained. Overall, this was a wonderful place to unwind and recharge our batteries. We can't wait to go back!
This property is amazing not only for its views, but it comes stocked with anything you could possibly want. This beautiful retreat has you feeling like you are at home in no time! The owners are extremely nice and make sure you have everything from directions to great restaurants.
THE TREE HOUSE HAS THE PERFECT SETTING, SURROUNDED BY FOREST WITH AN OPEN VIEW OF THE MOUNTAINS.
THE LIVING ROOM WALL IS ALL GLASS WITH SEVERAL ACCESS DOORS TO THE PORCH, QUIET BUT CONVENIENT TO ALL THE WONDERS OF THE BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY.
GREAT HIKING TO SEVERAL WATERFALLS WITH A COZY CABIN AND THE COMFORTS OF HOME WAITING FOR YOUR RETURN.
DID I MENTION NIGHTS IN THE 60's AND DAYS IN THE 70's, GOTTA LOVE THE MOUNTAINS.
We loved staying at the Treehouse. It's a fantastic rental for anyone visiting the North Carolina mountains for hiking and sightseeing or just looking for a quiet, secluded and relaxing mountain getaway. If you enjoy waterfalls there are two within a 5-10 minute drive of the house that are easily accessible. A five minute drive on Rte NC80 gets you to an access point onto the fantastic Blue Ridge Parkway and all of the recreational opportunities it offers. It's quite a great location!
The cabin itself is cozy, comfortable and tastefully decorated. This is no "bare bones' rental cabin by any means. The bedding is top notch (Although I only slept on the King sized bed, there are also a queen and double). Provided towels are hotel quality. The furniture is nice and far better than what is typically found in rental cabins. The kitchen is incredibly well stocked, if you need something - it's there. The wrap-around deck is huge and provides a stunning view of the Mount Mitchell range. Even though you don't need to navigate any steep inclines to get to the Treehouse, when you're taking in the view from the deck you feel like you're on a mountain top.
The owner is a pleasure to deal with.Very attentive and caring -all comminunications get responded to immediately. The entire rental process was smooth as silk and completely stress free. Five stars for the Treehouse?? YES, ABSOLUTELY!!!
Im not the best at writing these reviews, so to make a long story short, this place is everything you want in a little vacation. Its especially nice for folks that want to stay in and just hike around the house. Its a bit of a haul up and down the mountain but if you like long twists and turns then you wont mind. Plenty of nature, big sky, lots of culture in town. Stock up the little kitchen with the essentials and get ready for a solid vacation spot. The owners are very accomidating and kind. Kids will love the loft bedroom! Beds, towels, pillows, linens get five stars. Love the smell of the place too, especially after we made pizza in the cast iron pan ; ) Also, find an unsalted gem mine and get to work. Hiking is also superb in Transylvania.
Tons of hiking and mountain biking trails. Trailhead to Mt Mitchell only two miles from the Treehouse. Only a few hundred yards from the beautiful South Toe River, one of North Carolina's premier fly fishing rivers. Trophy fish are available in the private waters of the golf club, which comes with discounted privileges to our guests.
