The newly renovated spacious three room apartment is located on the ground floor of a two story house, next to the atelier of the home owner, who will provide Italian and painting lessons if desired. She occupies the upper floor. The house is located in the quiet residential area of Duinos, approx. 300 meters from the sea. There is a parking space in front of the house. There is a small supermarket and a bakery a few minutes away by foot. There are two very good restaurants on the small harbour, on whose terraces you can enjoy the sun setting beautifully over the sea.

Duino is a small sleepy town with 8500 inhabitants and is on the sea shore, just over 9 miles away from Triest. In the centre of the town you can find the 500 year old castle belonging to the Thurn und Taxis family, which is open to the public (spectacular views from the castle's tower). The most famous guest here was the German poet Rainer Maria Rilke who drew great inspiration from the place and composed his “Duiner Elegy” here in 1912. The Sentiero Rilke (Rilke trail) leads just over a mile and half along the coast to Sistiana and is one of most beautiful roads of the north Adriatic with its overwhelming views. Duino is not only a great place to relax and unwind (There is a small beach beside the harbour, a stony beach in Sistiana 4 miles away, a sandy beach in Grado 18 miles away,) but also a great base for countless day trips: Miramare castle and park 8 miles away, Triest 10 miles away, Lipica (Slovenia) 16 miles away, Aquilea 24 miles away and Venice, just over 80 miles away.

Erholung und Entspannung in Friaul

Ein dickes Lob gilt unserer Vermieterin Signora Alida. Sie hat uns herzlich begrüßt, uns viele Tipps gegeben und vor allem eine tolle Ferienwohnung zur Verfügung gestellt, in der es an nichts fehlte. Wir haben uns in der nur ein paar Minuten vom kleinen Strand entfernt gelegenen Wohnung sehr wohl gefühlt. Auch wenn wir zwei Tage mit den Winden der Bora zu kämpfen hatten. Friaul bot uns sehr viel. Die Städte Udine, Triest, Cividale, San Daniele, Grade waren von Duino aus gut und schnell zu erreichen. Ein Abstecher in die Küstenorte Sloweniens und ein Ausflug in die beiden Weinanbaugebiete Collio und Colina Orientale komplettierten unser Programm. Natürlich durfte auch ein Besuch im schönen Schloss Duino mit Wanderung auf dem Rilke-Weg über den Klippen, sowie Schloss Miramare nicht fehlen. Wir haben uns toll erholt und werden bestimmt nicht zum letzten Mal bei Signora Alida und ihrem Pierro gewesen sein.

Freundlicher Empfang durch Signora Alida in einer Ferienwohnung, die allen Angaben im Online-Inserat entsprach. Besonders erfreulich die gut ausgestattete Küche.
Zustand des Feriendomizils äußerst sauber und gepflegt.
Von den Vermietern waren wir mit einer Wegbeschreibung ausgerüstet, die uns sicher ans Ziel führte und während der Woche wurden wir freundlich und gut betreut. Unseren Freunden würden wir dieses Feriendomizil jederzeit weiterempfehlen. Empfehlenswert: Besuch in Slowenien (Lipizza), Aquileia, Grado und Lagune, Görz, Collio (Weinprobe), Cividale des Friuli, Weinstraße im Karst mit Buschenschanken, Rilkeweg, Castello, Miramare, Triest,

Ferien in einem Dorf Nahe Triest

Die Angaben im Inserate waren sehr treffend. Das Appartement war wie beschrieben, super auf unsere Bedürfnisse vorbereitet, sauber, die Küche neu und Nahe am Meer und einem leckeren Fischrestaurant. Familien mit Kindern, die an einen Sandstrand wollen, müssen mit dem Auto fahren, Grado liegt ca. 40 Minuten entfernt, es gibt wohl aber auch einen Sandstrand ca. 10 km entfernt, den wir nicht getestet haben. Außer Meer und Strand gibt es viel Natur und Kultur zu entdecken. Duino ist dafür ein ausgezeichneter Startpunkt. Wir empfehlen die verschiedenen Schlösser, die Grotta Gigante, den Rilke-Weg und natürlich eine Stadtbesichtigung von Trieste. Unser Dank geht an die Vermieterin, die sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend war.Wir haben uns dort sehr wohl gefühlt!
