Buena Vista Cabin Rental Photos and Description
2 Br, 1 Bath Off Grid Log Home On 60 Acres, Surrounded By National Forest
This well constructed log home is off grid, but features a fully equipped kitchen with propane appliances, a full bath with a shower/tub combination, and propane lights throughout. Electricity is available if needed using a propane generator. The living area features a wood stove, dining area for 6 and big cushioned benches with great views, along with a couple of recliners to relax in front of the fire. There is a big porch with endless views, equipped with an outdoor table, rocking chairs and Adirondack chairs for relaxing. A deck next to the porch has a bench and is a great place for outdoor grilling. The Master Bedroom has a King Bed; the second bedroom has two twins, and the living room area has cushioned long benches that can accommodate additional sleepers if needed. There is no TV or WiFi in the home, but the cell signal is very good, so portable hot spots are fine. (Hot spots are also readily available in town at various locations). The house sits on 60 acres, surrounded by National Forest, within a couple of miles of the Buffalo Peaks Wilderness Area. Four Mile Creek runs through the narrow valley just below the cabin. With no other homes anywhere in sight, you have wonderful views of the Collegiate Peaks to the west, Buffalo Peaks to the north, and the Sangre de Cristo mountains to the south. A few miles down the road towards town, the Four Mile area offers miles and miles of jeep roads and some singletrack. There are hiking and mountain biking opportunities right out the door of the cabin. Wildlife sightings are frequent. In spite of the wonderful feeling of isolation, the town of Buena Vista is only about 15 minutes away -- with restaurants, bars, and other services. Buena Vista is well know for its whitewater rafting and kayaking on the Arkansas river, as well as for endless hiking and mountain biking trails in the Collegiate Peaks area to the west of town.

About Debbie Farrell
I have lived in the Buena Vista area for about 12 years, having moved here from big cities on the East Coast to enjoy the wonderful mountains. I love to travel, but every time I come back to this valley, I am more convinced that there is no better place to live. It is absolutely beautiful here, with the '14ers' of the Collegiate Peaks towering over the 8,000 foot valley, snow-capped for a lot of the year. We enjoy tons of sunshine with Colorado blue skies. Since I love all the things you can do in mountains (trail running, hiking, skiing, showshoeing, biking), this area really has it all for me.

Why Debbie Farrell chose Buena Vista
While I have a lovely home on the west side of the valley (with great mountain views), I fell in love with this property when I happened upon it on a trail run one day. The views are so expansive and the feeling of having it all to yourself so strong, that I still feel like I exhale the minute I step out onto the porch. One day I'd like to build on the property, but in the meantime, I thought I would offer others that special feeling that I get every time I spend time at the cabin.
What makes this cabin unique
I don't even know how to convey how special this property is. A couple of times, I've had barbecues during the day at the cabin for my friends from the area. I find that people stay until the sun goes down because they don't want to leave the porch. (The photo above was a recent birthday party up there.) It's also a great feeling to just stroll out of the cabin down to the creek or across the road up to the (local secret) mountain bike trail along the ridge line.
