Overview

Beech Mountain Cottage Rental Photos and Description

2 Bedroom, 2 Bath, Plus Loft

Remodeled Summer 2013, this beautiful Beech Mountain, North Carolina “Round House” is nestled among the tree tops at an elevation of 4580’ and is less than a mile from the Beech Mountain Ski Resort entrance. All new furnishings include custom kitchen cabinetry, mattresses, linens, and more for your ultimate comfort get-a-way. The living room has a new stone façade 42” fire place with gas logs (no messy firewood needed!). The best part is turning on the fireplace is as easy as flipping on the light switch. While cozying up by the fireplace, you can watch the 55” Smart TV or your favorite DVD. You will enjoy cooking your favorite comfort foods in the custom kitchen fully equipped with stainless appliances and porcelain farm sink. Solid walnut countertops add to the beauty of the kitchen. Enjoy meals or play games at the large dining table made with reclaimed white oak wood. You will appreciate the beauty and uniqueness of the reclaimed hardwood floors salvaged from an 1830’s barn in Wisconsin.

Bring the marshmallows and make some memories by the outdoor fire pit. The fire pit is located next to the rolling creek running through the property. Relaxation and memory making at its best!

Each bedroom has a custom built queen size bed with drawers for your personal storage. Along with new mattresses, you’ll be sure to stay cozy and comfortable with the dual controlled electric blankets for those cool Beech Mountain nights. The loft is a perfect set up for children with a twin day bed and trundle, child size activity table, games, toys, and 32” Smart TV. A huge outdoor deck was rebuilt for reading, dining, and listening to the soothing sounds of the creek on the property. The newest addition is a large outdoor flagstone patio and fire pit. This is the perfect area for outdoor family fun. The gazebo span’s the creek and is a perfect place to have a tea party for princesses or be a castle and moat for young knights. Beech Mountain boasts a summer temperature rarely above 80 degrees and an average winter snowfall of 80” (many winters having much more)! Depending on the season, spend your day hiking, fishing, mountain biking, golfing, whitewater rafting, skiing, sledding, ice skating, shopping, or relaxing on the couch. It doesn’t get much more peaceful than this!

Although the roads are maintained by the Town of Beech Mountain, a 4-Wheel or All-Wheel drive vehicle or snow chains are recommended during the winter months.

About Stephen Litchfield

Our family currently resides on the coast of South Carolina. While we truly enjoy the Lowcountry with the water and beach we do love our time on Beech Mountain when we get a chance to head up there. Our kids love playing in the creek outside and seeing all the wildlife on the mountain. With all the activities on the mountain there is plenty to keep everyone entertained.

Stephen Litchfield purchased this cottage in 2013

Why Stephen Litchfield chose Beech Mountain

If elevation is your desire, then this is the place! Beech Mountain is the highest incorporated town east of the Mississippi. Being less than a mile from the ski slopes was important as was the unique location of the house. We wanted to have as much snow as possible and found the perfect home.

What makes this cottage unique

You want to choose our property if peace and tranquility are important to you. One of our favorite features of the house is the creek. It is usually rolling with water from mountain run off and there is nothing more peaceful than sitting on the deck or by the fire pit listening to it. The children love turning over rocks looking for salamanders, crawfish, etc.

We also fell in love with the wildlife and nature surrounding us. Its amazing what you will see just while watching out the window.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear Litchfield family,

Thank you so much for sharing your home with us. We felt very comfortable and cozy here. It was a relaxing retreat which we hope to do again in the future.

Thanks so much.

Awesome family weekend!

  • 5 of 5

The house has been beautifully restored/remodeled. We brought our 8 and 6 year old boys. The cabin was the perfect size for our family. It was equipped nicely with things needed for a family with children. The cabin far exceeded our expectations. We sledded with the sleds that were at the house, went snow tubing, and ice skating. So much fun!

Better than home!

  • 5 of 5

We arrived late in the evening, after dark and in the rain. Immediately we could hear the stream babbling down the hill, so welcoming! What a wonderful surprise to arrive to such a beautiful home! The house was immaculate and everything was as described, in fact, better! The home showcases custom high-end cabinetry, solid core doors and beautiful woodworking throughout. The floors in the kitchen are breathtaking - made from refurbished barn lumber, finished to perfection. With the flick of a switch, the fireplace was on, making our gloomy arrival a distant memory. Everything you could need has been anticipated... toiletries, coffee, dishwashing detergent, laundry soap, and so much more. Even dishes, sippy cups and toys are in the home for children (don't forget to check the freezer for a teething ring)! The beds are very comfortable with luxurious sheets and comforters (and dual control electric blankets). A bit of a climb though for a short person like me! The bathrooms, while compact, were very clean and had plenty of storage space. If you are there for skiing, you are literally steps as the crow flies to Beech and about 15 minutes from Sugar.

While there, we saw three brown bears, several deer, two skunks (from a distance thankfully), and something we think might have been a beaver? While perched on a mountainside, the house is near several restaurants, grocery shopping, fast food, and lots of other things to do.

We were sad to leave - actually we were able to extend our stay by one night. The Litchfield's are very helpful, honest and accommodating - this was the perfect escape for us! Absolutely zero regrets - this home and it's owners exceeded our expectations!

Wonderful Home!

  • 5 of 5

This is the most precious house! It's has everything you could possibly need for a great weekend get away. You will never find a cleaner home, and the kitchen is amazing! I'm the biggest clean freak ever, and the home far exceeded my expectations! Probably cooked more "on vacation" than ever because we enjoyed the kitchen so much! Loved the decor! We stayed the last weekend in February and arrived in 17 degree, snow covered weather. Rooms were spacious and extremely comfortable bedding! It was an all girls weekend for my daughter's 17th birthday. The girls skied while my girlfriend and I enjoyed coffee and the warm fireplace. We did travel over to Banner Elk(short drive) for a little shopping. The girls loved having their time up in the loft area! If you're adventurous and wanted to climb up the hill in back of house, you literally are at the entrance of Beech Mtn Ski Resort. I could tell this home has a lot love poured into it! A lot of attention to detail which made us feel right at home! We are already planning another weekend next winter to stay here! Do be prepared to get your exercise up the stairs!

A Wonderful Place!

  • 5 of 5

The house was better than we ever imagined it would be! Like others have said, the pictures don't do it justice. The location is perfect, Beech Mountain resort is literally in the backyard of the home yet it feels like a cabin far off in the woods. The inside of the home is beautifully decorated and everything you could possibly need is there. Seriously, they thought of everything! Just bring your own food and you are set for your stay. Our almost three year old loved to play up in the loft area with the toys (when she wasn't begging to go tobogganing down the hill in front of the home) and we loved relaxing on the couch in front of the fireplace after a day of skiing - and even more tobogganing with our now tobogganing addicted daughter. It really is the perfect Beech Mountain winter getaway. We will be back next year for sure!

Cozy, Family Cabin

  • 5 of 5

We took our 4 & 6 year-olds for their first ski trip - this house was one of their favorite things! (Ours too!) Even more beautiful than the pictures do it justice. We felt right at home after a long day out in the cold. The kids loved the loft with toys and games and we found so many little extras (small silverware, child-proof knobs, etc.) that made it the perfect family cabin for us!

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was absolutely perfect and just as described! My girlfriend and I enjoyed every minute we were there. Especially the mornings when we would sit at the table and watch the white tailed deer walk by. Everything is there that you could possibly need. And the decor of the cabin is perfect. I highly recommend it to anyone considering . I'm actually preparing to book our next stay!
