Relax, feel good, enjoy, have a great time:
This could be the motto for your visit to our house. You’ll be living in our tastefully restored and equipped holiday house with a generous living room and terrace in the middle of the Peloponnesian and Mediterranean paradise, a wonderful place for those who love nature. All sorts of facilities are provided to help you relax: you can stretch out comfortably on the sofa beds, listen to music and bury yourself in a book in the reading corner, or go out to the sun terrace and sunbathe on a comfy aluminium lounger or sit in a hanging chair under an olive tree to enjoy the beautiful view of the landscape and the sea. You can take short or longer walks to enjoy the fascinating nature of the Peloponnese Mountains, with fantastic, ever-changing views of the sea and the rocks, or ride your mountain bike through isolated valleys and villages. In the evening sit in the tavern by the watering place or sit on the terrace and let the evening unwind. You can take a trip to nearby Aghio or to the sea.
Things to see and experience, part 1:
There are countless possibilities of things to do on this holiday, whatever your personal interests and desires. You can bathe in the numerous bays of the Gulf of Corinth (clear water, pebble beaches, in parts very fine pebbles) which are not crowded even in high season and mostly offer natural shade. Because of the mild mountain climate a summer trip to the peaks of Erymanthos (2224 m) or Chelmos (2341 m) will still be a marvellous experience. A drive by rack railway from nearby Diakofto to Kalavrita through a 10 km long, wild mountain gorge will be totally unforgettable. (Tip: buy the tickets the day before as there are limited places and journeys.) For railway enthusiasts there’s always the Aghio to Athens stretch, or the journey to Patras along the coast, or into the countryside through Pirgos – Kiparisia – Tripolis – Korinth, then back to Aghio. Near to the holiday house, just a few minutes away by car, there’s a well-known cloister.
Things to see and experience, part 2:
Local cloisters such as those at Agio Lavra, Mega Spileo and Taxiatchon are located amid beautiful scenery and easy to combine with walking. Visiting antique sites such as Delphi, Old Corinth, Mycene, Tirynis, Epdaures and Olympia is well worth it and can be done in a day trip. You can even take day trips to the cities of Athens (2 hours by car, train or bus) or Patras (30 minutes) and these journeys provide a brilliant contrast to the picturesque beach and mountain location of your holiday. Idyllic Kerinia has all the qualities of the ideal holiday destination: it only takes 10 minutes to reach the sea, 15 minutes to reach a Greek village with everything you expect in it, a very short time to get up into the mountains and enjoy the fascinating peaks of the North Peloponnese range, a day trip to see antique historical monuments or to set off for the cities of Athens or Patras. So there are masses of things for you to do on this holiday, without any mass tourism, hurly-burly or rip-off.
