Diamond Lake is the largest lake in Southwestern Michigan. This all sports lake is over a thousand acres and offers loads of fun in any season. There are two golf courses minutes away and you can be snow skiing at Swiss Valley in less than 15 minutes. Notre Dame and South Bend, Indiana are only 30 minutes away, and Chicago is only 2 hours from our cottage.
No Pets, No Smoking, PLEASE.
I grew up on Diamond Lake and loved it! After being gone for almost 30 years, I was able to go back and find this great lake cottage just down the street from where I grew up. My memories of my childhood and teenage years are consumed with time spent on Diamond Lake with family and friends. I now can share this story book location with my own children.
Relaxing, Relaxing, Relaxing! Did I mention our home is a great place to go to relax? You can do as much or as little as your desire. Sit on the porch and rock in our rocking chairs or jump in a boat and ski the lake. The outside fire pit is a great place to sit around and enjoy marshmellows and lightning bugs.
Our week at the cottage was WONDERFUL - plenty of room for 9 of us to stay in ... 7 adults and 2 kids. Having 2 bathrooms was very helpful. We even had more family up for a birthday celebration on Sunday and it was a blast. The view of Diamond Lake was AWESOME and our FAV spot was the covered front porch with table/chairs and rocking chairs where we spent many hours - we even sat out there through a couple of storms that week! The GREAT kitchen with island had plenty of space for many cooks and had everything you needed! The large table for 10 in the front room came in handy for meals and game playing and the view from there was great. Nice to have a laundry room and the extra refrig. The beds were comfy and there was plenty of bedding and towels. We also loved the pier - did lots of swimming from there and kept our boat there.
I would HIGHLY recommend this cottage to anyone! Beth was a pleasure to work with and we are so thankful that she and her husband rent their wonderful cottage out for others to enjoy! The week went WAY TOO FAST - we will definitely be back!!!
If you want true relaxation but still need to keep in touch with the outside world, this is the place. Breakfast on the big porch, lazy yellow-chair days in the sun, reading under the pergola, fishing on Diamond Lake, swimming at the pier or off the sandbar, moonlit boat rides, animated conversations around the firepit and don't forget to bring an X-Box for the kids on the big TV. Post to Facebook, check your email or tune into CNN (great cable), then go antiquing in Dowagiac and Niles. Check into the Niles farmers market and the weekly summer concerts in the downtown Dowagiac gazebo. It's an absolute treat cooking in Beth's fully outfitted kitchen as well as being able to wash wet towels and hang up swim suits in the laundry room (not to mention having a second refrigerator). Compared to what you'd pay for a comparable suite in a hotel, Beth's lake house is truly a bargain --- and a lot more fun! We've already booked for 2012.
This is not your typical lake cottage rental. This is a beautiful, well equipped, and maintained home. Not only is the home lovely, but the landscaping and the view to the lake are gorgeous. It is a large home with lots of outdoor living space too. The front porch with the two large rockers were always in use. My family, and friends all enjoyed their trip to Diamond Lake, and we will definately return!
As luck would have it, we rented this beautiful and well-maintained home for two weeks in June during which it rained every other it day it seems. It wasn't hard to stay indoors since the view of the lake is lovely to watch in all weather. Planning for the rain, I brought two bins full of photos to organize and put in albums. At home this would never have been accomplished! The huge table was a big help. Being able to stop and just sit on the porch, even in the rain, was relaxing. There is a nice two-mile walk (one mile out and one mile back) going west along the lakefront. Every evening the weather permitted, my husband and I took our drinks down to the dock and stayed until the moon rose. Our last night there we were rewarded with huge full moon and a glistening lake. It was heaven. Beth is wonderful to work with and is truly concerned for the comfort of her guests. Would absolutely stay again.
