Golden Townhome Rental Photos and Description

3 bedroom, 2 and a half bath, with easy access to and from the mountain.

Whispering Pines has a King size master suite with its own bathroom. There are two other bedrooms. The first has a queen bed with an adult bunk bed. The other can be used as a king bed or two doubles. These two rooms share a bathroom. In addition there is a powder room on the main floor.

Downstairs there is a games room for the kids with a video game player and a ping pong table.

Boot room has a dryer to take care of boots and gloves.

The kitchen is well stocked, our Family loves to cook and entertain when we are up here so there is no shortage of kitchen accessories.

There is a 5 person hot tub on the deck off the main floor.

The barbeque is also located on the deck.

There is a two car garage, with storage for skis, snow boards and sleds.

WARNING ABOUT CLEANING FEES AND INCORRECT $ REIMBURSEMENTS FOR THIS PROPERTY!!!!

We stayed here for a long weekend in Feb 2014. Heads up on a cleaning fee issue: the property manager collected a deposit upfront from us which included costs for cleaning, and yet the binder in the house said to leave cash for cleaning. We did leave the cash, and it was only when later I had to look back on charges due to the hot tub issue (below) that I realized we'd been charged upfront for cleaning as well. When I noticed this, after our stay, I called this out to the property manager, not the other way around. She did refund the amount we'd left in cash, and said they would update the binder in the house to not ask for cash, but said she was "insulted" by me asking about why this happened, and never explained to me the difference between that higher amount she charged me in the upfront deposit for cleaning, and the lesser amount that the cleaner seemed to be charging. Make sure you don't pay for cleaning twice.

Also, the hot tub did not work the entire time we were there - kinda important for a ski holiday! The property manager did alert us to this before we arrived, but said that it would be fixed before we got there. It was not, and when I called her during our stay (instead of her updating us) to find out the status, we got into a heated discussion and she was quite rude to me on the phone. She did apologize at the time, and she agreed to reimburse me a day's charges and we ended the phone call on a positive note, but then later only reimbursed me just over half of the day rate for the time we were staying there. When I raised this issue of incorrect $ reimbursement to the owner at the email address the property manager provided, he never bothered to respond. They were looking to sell the property when we were there, so clearly they don't really care about it anymore (although the owner's wife did stop by to say hello and apologize for the rudeness of the property manager, which we appreciated).

I would not recommend staying there for those reasons, and I would advise you to definitely check what you pay (or paid!!) them and question any charges that don't make sense.

Owner's Response: We welcome the opportunity to respond to this rental client’s concerns:
HOT TUB ISSUE
On Feb 11/14 we were notified that our hot tub had broken down and would require new parts. The guest was scheduled to arrive at our home on Feb 14/14 so we immediately informed them by email of the problem with the hot tub. Here is a direct quote of email sent to our guest.” Please note, the hot tub broke down today, we are endeavoring to get it fixed right away and hope to have it up and running prior to your arrival. We are waiting for some parts, so keep your fingers crossed.” No promises were made that it would be operational. The property manager was available by phone, text and email over the weekend to try and rectify the situation with the hot tub company, the owner and the guest. Once it was determined that we would not be able to get the required parts over the weekend, the PM promised and refunded the guest $475.00 plus taxes. The standard reduction in daily rental rate at KHMR for a non-functioning hot tub is $50.00 per day. The Owner of this property was also staying up at KHMR at the time, so the Owner, also went out of their way to visit this guest and to offer the use of their hot tub throughout the guest’s stay at KHMR.
CLEANING FEES ISSUE
Prior to listing with VRBO the home was rented to family and friends only. In our guest book were instructions to our friends and family to pay the housekeeper directly in cash for an amount of $120.00. In our VRBO contract with our guests, we charge a cleaning fee of $200.00 and nowhere does it stipulate to leave cash on the premises. Due to an over site, the page in our guestbook that referred to cleaning charges in the past, was not removed. When this guest read the book, they left an additional $120.00 in cash for the housekeeper. When this guest contacted the PM after the weekend, she informed the PM (“called out” in her words) that she had left cash, at which point the PM responded, no problem, we will immediately refund the $120.00 that was left in error. The property manager did explain that the guestbook would be updated so that this did not occur again for any future rentals.
This guest was well compensated for the issues that arose during their stay; the hot tub repair was clearly not in the control of the Owner. The cleaning fee was an over site and the guest book has been updated. Every effort was made to communicate with this guest clearly and in a respectful business manor.

PERFECT SKI TRIP WEEKEND!

By far the most well-equipped vacation rental we've ever stayed in (coffee filters, spices, extra towels, blankets, movies, games, hot tub, ping-pong!), and such a great location on the hill. That it was ski-in, ski-out made it super convenient, and it was a short walk down to the lodge for food and drinks, not that we ever wanted to leave the house! Had more than enough space for our group of 8 - could easily fit 10. Marty was incredibly helpful, and very understanding when we almost got stuck in Golden an extra night because the highways were closed! We loved this place!

HOME AWAY FROM HOME

Our stay was great. Very roomy, great to ski to house and hop in hot tub afterwards. Would book again in a heart beat! Loved having all the amenities of home and being able to cook own meals. They even had cozy blankets to curl up by the fire. Loved the stack of games and ping pong table, did not have to leave the house or pack things to do. Fit 5 couples quite comfortably. AMAZING master bedroom and ensuite ;)
