I arrived in Honolulu in 1996 and purchased this house in 2007. I currently own and have owned several businesses in Honolulu. I love to read books, sing Karaoke and travel. Especially to Hawaii's 9th island, fabulous Las Vegas.

Great Place

Seven of us were looking for an inexpensive place to vacation after a seminar on the west side of the island. This duplex was lovely and very comfortable. The owner was really nice. The breeze and fans kept the main area comfortable, and the a/c units in the bedrooms worked nicely. There were some minor things (like the screen doors to the lanai didn't open) and yes, it's hidden in a pocket behind some apartment building (I would NOT call it slums like the earlier reviewer), but we weren't bothered or inconvenienced by anything. It was a great deal for a stay this close to Waikiki and easy access to the rest of the island.

We have used VRBO for more than 10yrs. Several trips a year. We have never been disappointed until this place we rented. Be aware the way "Mario" advertises is not what you are going to get. What you will get is 1. A vacation rental in the middle of slums, filth and garbage all over. 2. Roaches and ants inside the home, kitchen and living areas. 3. No outside area to use. 4. Neighbor's that party and fight. 5. The pics are very deceiving. If you leave the air on when you leave the unit, to be cool when you come back someone will come into the unit and shut them off. It will be stifling in there. Absolutely no privacy. To sum it up we highly do not recommend this place. Once you are there you will be sorry. Then its to late. Every place we have rented has been fantastic EXECPT THIS ONE. PLEASE BEWARE.

Owner's Response: I am highly suspicious of this posting as this guest never made any attempt to discuss his concerns with me on the day he checked into the vacation rental. Even if the guest would have contacted me the following day, I would have tried to rectify all of his concerns, or provided he had a valid complaint that could not be resolved; I would have immediately issued him a full refund so that he could seek other accommodations more suitable to his expectations. In all sincerity, this posting does not accurately reflect the condition and value that this vacation rental offers. The 3BR/2BA apartment was fully remodeled in December of 2013 and most of the furnishings are brand new. The guest signed a rental agreement in January of 2014 and thus had more than ample time to google the location of the property prior to his check-in on May 13, 2014. This duplex is valued at over $ 850,000, so I can assure you that it is not in the middle of the slums and roach infested. Kaimuki is a very desirable area of Honolulu. In conclusion I would like to emphasize that this review is in stark contrast to approx. (50) other positive guest reviews I have received from bookings on Airbnb and Flipkey. Great price! Friendly owners!

We rented the suite for a group of 6 students. Great price for similar suites in the area. Within close proximity to bus routes and 20 mins walking distance to Waikiki.

Owners were quite amicable, friendly, and super helpful. One of us had her backpack stolen. A stranger managed to come across it and made the extra effort to contact us (we had already flown home) and connect us back to our lost item.
