Escape to our beautiful hacienda in Tulum and enjoy your Caribbean vacation!

Located in Tulum, Mayan Riviera, Mexico our hacienda Kin Nah is a unique property. We are opening our home for seasonal rental for our second season. Our fabulous guests from our first year have inspired us to do it again this season. It is fully furnished and includes quality linens, bedding and cooking implements. Comfortable, quality mattresses and pillows are provided for your comfort and enjoyment. The outdoor bar/ kitchen is available for poolside cooking and entertaining. The property is very peaceful and private and is a short 8 block walk to the downtown pueblo of Tulum. We are located on the edge of Tulum bordering on the jungle and enjoy the parrots and toucans and a more peaceful environment than in the center of town. The incredible Caribbean ocean is only minutes away by car and is rated as one of the top 10 in the world ... it is truly amazing! In addition, Tulum boasts many great restaurants and tourist attractions, besides the obvious allure of the sunshine, palm trees and that incredible turquoise water. Also known for its ruins, cenotes, snorkelling, diving and fishing, this is the perfect place for your holiday escape.

This is not a party house. This is our home and we want all of our guests to also feel at home here. If you are looking for privacy and a place to relax and call home while you are in Tulum, you've found the right place. Bienvenidos!

About CORRINE AND JACK ANDREASEN

We are Canadians who live part-time in Mexico. We're a married couple (we married in Mexico). We have 5 awesome grown children and one adorable Mexican rescue dog. We spend our winters in Tulum and the rest of the year we live in British Columbia, Canada. In Canada we live in the great Canadian wilderness and many enjoy outdoor activities. Hubby is a fishing fanatic so going south allows him to fish all year round! We enjoy travelling and the tropics. Making a home for ourselves in Tulum has been quite the adventure! We came first on a vacation and the following year, when deciding on where to go, we realized we wanted to return to Tulum as there was so much still to see there and we really enjoyed our first short 10 day visit! This happened year after year!!!! One of the things we found lacking during our vacations was some privacy. Most hotels and rentals come with many suites and therefor many people. We wanted to escape to somewhere we could spend some quiet time. The obvious step was to make a home there. We love the Mayan ... both the place and the people. There's so much to do here! Tons of amazing cenotes and beaches and wonderful restaurants and other great venues! Always a festival or fiesta goin on ... love that about the Mexican people! Workwise, hubby is a drywall contractor in Canada and I work part-time with him as well as seasonally on forest fires (have for 15 years). Started as a firefighter and now travel around the province to the larger fire events. Hubby has owned his own drywall company for 40 years and we do mostly custom homes. He is also an artist and has been published in a book, Artists of the Nicola Valley. His oil paintings are mostly scenery of Canada but I tell him he's going to have to do palm trees and beaches! We struggled with the name for our home and we finally decided on KIN NAH, which means 'sun house'. We hope you'll love it as much as we do. Bienvenidos!

CORRINE AND JACK ANDREASEN purchased this house in 2011

Why CORRINE AND JACK ANDREASEN chose Tulum

We actually bought the lot and designed the home ourselves. Attention to detail and design helped to make this the amazing property that it is. We started in 2008 and we finished in May 2011. When people ask us how it is building a house in Mexico, we just tell them 'It isn't for the light of heart'!!! Nuff said!

What makes this house unique

Privacy! So many properties here are communal and you are living in a condo or townhouse with many close neighbours. We are a house and so that allows you a little bit more privacy and solitude. This is not a party house. If you wanna party down ... please choose another location. Thank you. Quiet time is between 11:00 pm and 7:00 am. We are close to downtown but not living next door to the roosters. Still close to shopping and restaurants and only minutes from the ocean. Our environmental pool uses very few chemicals and is surrounded by lit onyx rock at night. Perfect for those midnight swims (that you are not allowed to have in the all inclusives).

Short Visit to Tulum

  • 4 of 5
We have been to Tulum a number of times, but always stayed on the beach. We're considering buying a property there so thought we'd try renting nearer where we would buy, so I'm not sure our perspective will help others. That being said, it was a nice property. Terry the housekeeper was very nice. If you don't rent a car, it's a 1/4 mile + to get to the main road to get a cab. And I'm not complaining here, but if you use the bikes, be careful. The seat on one moves as you go over rough terrain. I tightened it done as much as I could to no avail.

very clean

Terry keeps this place spotless. We never saw 1 bug, or even a leaf in the pool. It is very quiet, definitely off the beaten path. A hidden gem in the jungle.

She had it so clean you didn't even see a bug?! You're lucky! She told me she had a big tarantula in the yard shortly after you left. Thank you so much for choosing Kin Nah for your vacation escape. We would love you to return one day and are offering you a 10% discount for your next visit as a way of saying thank you for taking the time to write a review for us!!! Muchas gracias! Corrine & Jack

Home Away from Home

What a wonderful time we had at Kin Nah! The suite was beautiful with everything you could ask for. Jack and Corinne are excellent hosts and directed us to the "must see" places in and around Tulum. We had rented a car but really would have been fine with cabs. They're everywhere and one right next door to Kin Nah. We went out for dinner several times and for breakfast at great spots Jack and Coriine recommended. The fully equiped kitchen was great for those chillaxing stay home meals. The balcony was perfect to sit out and relax. The pool was gorgeous. We could have happily spent the entire 5 days sitting around that pool! The time absolutely flew by and we can't wait to go back!!

This place is it. My wife and I stayed in the unit overlooking the beautiful pool. The balcony is very spacious and totally private. We spent most of our time there when we were on the property - it was awesome. The unit had everything we needed, and was very clean and tidy. We usually had our breakfasts and dinners "at home" and went out for lunch every day. It is so quiet there. It is situated at the edge of the jungle, so most mornings, we would wake up to the sound of birds - so much nicer than traffic and wild parties as we experienced in Playa del Carmen. It's just a short walk into town, or a quick bike ride. The hosts have bicycles there that you can use so we often went for bike rides. Tulum is a beautiful little town with lots of little stores, restaurants, and bars -- and the best seafood that we've ever had in our lives. And for the beaches which are just a short cab ride away - the sand is like walking on white powder - and hardly anyone on the beach. It's almost like it's all your own. The water is a gorgeous, blue/green color, and warm as can be.
When we met our hosts, Jack and Corrine, it was like we had known them forever. They made us feel totally at home and were extremely helpful in every way. They recommended the best places to go, the best places to eat, how much we should pay for a taxi, etc. etc. They are just the greatest couple and the perfect hosts.
The only drawback to our vacation is that we should have stayed at Tulum longer.
Thanks again Jack and Corrine for everything. We had an awesome time.

A Piece of Paradise

  • 5 of 5
My wife and I have taken many Caribbean vacations and have always gone the all-inclusive resort route. This was our first venture into renting our own place and going off the beaten track—and we both agree, we would do it again in a heartbeat.

For the many travellers like us who have had a taste of the Caribbean and are ready to take the next step and experience life away from the resort—this is the perfect place, in the perfect town. Our hosts were absolutely wonderful people, and after 18 days, I hope I can have the privilege of calling them my new friends.

Jack and Corrine take great pride in their home and it shows. The suites are extremely tidy, modern, and have everything you're going to need. The yard and pool are beautiful, unique, and tropical settings that are great for the times you "just want to stay home and relax", and the sheltered balcony almost doubles your living space (you'll likely spend most of your "home-time" out there).

As for the town, Tulum is a fitting choice for those wishing to see more than the mega-resorts that try to make you feel like you're still in North America. The restaurants, the fruit markets and street vendors... all excellent, healthy and fresh. A large grocery store is nearby. The attractions are all a simple and cheap Collectivo van away (a short walk to where they meet downtown and about $4 to go wherever you need, including Playa Del Carmen). You can rent or borrow a bicycle. Or, do as we did and rent a scooter. The money you save on cabs and tours makes it worthwhile. You can go at your own pace and there is so much to see within a short ride.

Lastly, the Coba and Tulum ruins are both very close. Cenotes for snorkelling and diving dot the area like craters—and the beaches....ohhh, the beaches!

Tulum has a very laid-back, relaxed and welcoming vibe—much like your hosts. And, if you're nice, Corrine and Jack will let you in on some of the secret spots that make this area such a gem.

This wasn't a vacation. It was an experience that my wife and I will treasure. You will too.

Gracias, Corrine and Jack. Gracias!

a beautiful, relaxing experience for 2 solid weeks in March-2013

  • 5 of 5
This casa is unique in so many ways. The owners obviously left no stone uncovered when it came to quality workmanship, floor plan layouts, furnishings and color schemes. The pool is stunning at night and is situated perfectly on the lot allowing for sun exposure most of the day then a slight shadowing going into the early evening. I stayed in the one-bedroom suite upstairs and was shocked at how roomy the suite was. The decor throughout the suite creates a rather calming feeling. The terrace is spacious and was where I spent every morning sipping on some Mayan java. I was especially impressed by the commercial-type security entrance door . This made me feel safe and sound in the evenings. There are multiple beach and cenote options within 10-15 minutes of this location. There are many stores close-by that are walking distance to purchase groceries, clothing and the like. I highly recommend you rent this casa. You will not be disappointed in any way. Instead you will go away with the experience of renting privately and vacationing with a sense of freedom being able to appreciate the culture of Tulum and the Mayan people residing here. Staying at this casa was very enjoyable, peaceful and everything I imagined and wanted in terms of quiet and relaxation. In fact, I plan to rent this same place this coming December for 2 weeks over Christmas/New Years.

Car: not necessary

Tulum is the destination for your tropical pleasures. You can do as little or as much as you want here. There's so much to see and explore. Amazing cenotes, ruins, snorkelling, diving, beaches, eco-tours, fishing, swimming, bird watching, kite boarding, jungle adventures and tourist attractions that include zip-lines, maya shows and zoos. Or a beach and a book on a deserted beach. Great shopping, excellent restaurants and the most amazing beaches in the world!!! Come and stay with us and enjoy our little piece of paradise! We are located in Tulum just outside of the main downtown area edging on the jungle. It is quieter than in the pueblo but only an 8 minute walk to downtown and a ten minute car ride to the beach. We know you will love your visit to Tulum and we hope to see you again next year!
