I couldn’t believe how much we could do at Jay Peak in the summer! We hiked a portion of the Long Trail only a mile away. We mountain biked on the amazing groomed trails just beside the cottage, and next time we’ll bring our road bikes because the roads are freshly paved! OMG we even went cliff jumping at the local watering hole! We spent hours at the brook, the kids loved floating with the current on an inner tube like a lazy river! The kids learnt how to fish and caught trout from the brook. But the best time was spent on the back deck with the view of the mountains, the sound of the brook and a good book! LOVE, LOVE , LOVE this place!
I loved this house! I will absolutely recommend staying at this house to many people!
We spent MLK weekend 2015 at the Jay Peak Jewel celebrating a milestone birthday with 6 couples. Immediately upon turning off the main road and entering into the long private driveway we knew we were arriving at a special place. As our guests trickled in throughout the evening each one walked into the great room and commented on the exquisite post and beam architecture and how comfortable they felt when they arrived into this Northern Kingdom paradise. The space was extremely accommodating for all to enjoy, the grand fireplace and open kitchen design provided a great place for our socializing and we enjoyed the large kitchen table during our festive meals. We all took notice of the thoughtful layout of the home and all of the details put into the design of this retreat. Our entire group hit the slopes for most of the weekend at Jay, along with apres ski at the mountain. However, the group could not wait to get back home to unwind in front of the fire, prepare the evening meal or even snow shoe around the property before dark. Sarah was extremely accommodating throughout the entire process and even allowed a few of us to enjoy a couple extra turns in fresh powder on our departure day. The Jay Peak Jewel is a mountain home were lifetime memories are created. Thank you for sharing your special place!
We had a great Holiday week at Jay Peak! The Jay Peak Jewel lives up to its name with grand common spaces for relaxing and socializing. The place accommodated three families nicely. The kids liked to play downstairs while the adults enjoyed the great room, the fireplace, and the awesome views from the back windows. The property was beautiful.
The Garage and foyer gave us plenty of room to change and store our winter gear.
Sarah was the best, as she went grocery shopping for us, and helped us settle in for our week in the Northern Kingdom. We would highly recommend this rental as well as Sarah for her friendly and outgoing service. Jay Peak also has some great glades for tree skiing/riding.
We rented this house for a week in August, 2014. The pictures on the website are quite nice but do not really do the property justice. The house is impeccably finished - gorgeous in its many details – and also quite grand. It is also an extremely relaxing place to hang out. The great room is truly great – the views of the brook and the mountains are breathtaking, and the deck out back is magnificent.
There is a long driveway, so the house is very private. We hiked the brook for several miles in both directions – very nice swimming holes abound in the summer. There also is excellent hiking in the area. Jay Peak is a few minutes down the road, Montgomery is even closer, and the Belfry (a great Vermont pub) is within a mile.
The house has plenty of well appointed bedrooms – certainly enough for several families. The master suite is exquisite , has its own fireplace and bathroom. And the plumbing is excellent – which is actually rare for a country property in the Jay area. I vacationed with my wife and two teenage boys. We lived in Vermont for 10 years in the ‘90’s, have taken 1 to 4 weeks vacation in the Vermont summer every year since. Everyone agreed this was by far the best.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, the foliage this year was incredible! This house has everything, charm, comfort and a fantastic view! The open plan living area was great for my family, while the master suite provided great atmosphere for a secluded romantic getaway. I love timber frame houses, wish I lived in one. We will have to come back to Jay and visit this home again in the winter, plenty of property for snowshoeing and nordic skiing along with Jay Peak just minutes away!
This cottage (more like a luxury house) is a gem to be found in the jay area. Nestled in the woods, with the river running by, on its own private land, it couldn't get better. the house is pure luxury, beautifully maintained and decorated, the pictures don't begin to show how gorgeous it is.
We had a wonderful time here, with lots of people. The kitchen area is welcoming and user friendly. It has everything you could wish for in a gourmet chef's kitchen, great utensils, range etc. The island in the center of the kitchen is a great spot for formal eating and socializing or there is the banquet table where you can sit more formally.
We loved the cozy wood fireplace, which pumped heat out to keep the whole house warm on the coldest of nights.
The children loved the fact that there was lots of space for different age groups to hang out. The downstairs games room is a real winner. We spent many evenings in the hot tub, listening to the river and watching the stars, it was really a beautiful spot.
Finally, the location of the cottage could not be better. it is just a few minutes drive from the local village, Montgomery, with a grocery store, and gas etc, or a few minutes in the other direction to the base of Jay Peak Ski Resort. Great restaurant options in both directions.
The owners could not have been more welcoming to us. We really enjoyed our experience with them.
All in all, this cottage is a gem to be cherished. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to have family gathering or time away with friends. It would be a wonderful base to have in jay Peak. We will definitely be back!!!
