The Amenities!

The First Floor:

A Shore Thing has a fully equipped kitchen and dining room. It is a great gathering place to cook, grab a drink, and enjoy good conversation.

Just off the dining room is the family room where you can relax and enjoy a movie on the big-screen TV. The whole family can join in on the two full-size leather couches and a leather reclining chair. Are you the kind of person who wants to enjoy the view of the lake while being in the comfort of the air conditioning? A Shore Thing's living room is the place for you! The living room is located at the front of the house with a stunning view of the lake; here you can also get cozy in front of the natural gas fire place with only the flip of a switch! It is furnished with two chairs, one chair and half, and one loveseat all with a great view of the lake! Change your mind and want to be outside? Walk through the front French doors of the living room onto the seasonally furnished covered porch and feel the warm breeze on your skin.

The first bedroom is located on the first floor. It is furnished with a full-size sofa bed and a rocker/glider. Look out the bedroom window to enjoy the lake view from the comfort of the bed! A full bathroom with tub/shower is located next to the bedroom.

To complete the first floor is the laundry room with a newer washer and brand new dryer. We doubt you'll want to waste your time doing laundry but just in case you want to dry some beach towels or snow pants, it is there for your convenience.

Second Floor:

At the top of the stairs on the second floor is a second full bathroom with tub/shower. This large bathroom has a skylight for natural lighting and plenty of space to spread out.

As soon as you walk into the spacious master bedroom on the second level you will see a wall of windows that give you a panoramic view of Fife Lake. The large master suite has a walk-in closet, tongue-and-groove hardwood cathedral ceilings with a ceiling fan, a queen-size bed, cable television, and the most romantic view of the sunset over the lake. The adjoining private master bathroom has his and hers sinks, a sky-light perfect for enjoying the mid-morning glow, and a walk-in shower with a bench and multiple faucet system. A Shore Thing's master suite is romantic to say the least!

Two additional large bedrooms complete the second floor. The third bedroom is furnished with a single bed as well as a bunk bed set that has a twin bed on the top and a full bed on the bottom. A great place for kids to have their own space! Additionally, this room has a 32 inch flatscreen TV, DVD player, and a Nintendo Wii gaming system (with two controllers, one nunchuck, and Netflix!). The fourth and final bedroom is a mirror image of the third bedroom and is located on the back corner of house for privacy. This bedroom is furnished with a king bed perfect for couples, friends, parents, or anyone else you’re bringing on vacation. Both the third and fourth bedrooms overlook the tree-covered backyard and patio area.

This is a great place for 2-3 families!

About Alli Wilson

A Shore Thing is owned and cared for by Dan and Alli. Dan and Alli have been together for two years. They live in Fife Lake with their three younger children while their oldest son is out on his own.

Dan is a life-long resident of Fife Lake aside from his 8 years of active duty in the Navy. Alli is a Kentucky native who spent her adolescence downstate and fell in love with the area (and Dan!).

Alli Wilson purchased this house in 1998

Why Alli Wilson chose Fife Lake

Dan poured his energy and vision into custom building A Shore Thing from the beginning before the house was built. Dan hand-picked and cut the trees for the lake house. He chose five different kinds of wood including white pine tongue-and-groove cathedral ceilings in the master bedroom; elm and pine tongue-and-groove ceilings in other bedrooms; red and grey elm hardwood floors; cedar for tongue-and groove ceilings in the kitchen, interior window trim, and exterior trim; and all the bird's eye maple trim and molding on the inside and outside of the home.

A Shore Thing was a primary residence for several years until Dan and Alli started updating the home in 2013 and decided to share the lake house with vacationers. Dan's children grew up in the house; his ancestors were one of the first families to settle in Fife Lake. Dan took extra care to to maximize the natural light, lakeviews, and use local trees and wood so the home would be a great representation of Northern Michigan.

What makes this house unique

Dan was able to create A Shore Thing into his ideal lake home. The bedrooms are spacious and the views are stunning. The fireplace in the living room overlooks the lake; it adds that special touch on winter nights after being in the snow all day. The kitchen is a great gathering place and the home is ready to host several people at a moment's notice.

A Shore Thing is the perfect place to be whether you want to get escape inside away from the cold or allow the warmth and sunshine in. The private beach provides a view of sunsets that we can't live without; come and visit and you'll see why!

Great space

  • 5 of 5

Our two families stayed at a shore thing and used it as a base for skiing. One day to crystal mountain and another to schuss mountain. Both easy drives. The home is quite new maybe 3-5 years old. We rent houses often and this is one of the best. Huge bathrooms-3 and a huge master bedroom with a big comfy sofa. Lots of sleeping space. Good layout so we could keep everyone in the conversation between the kitchen family room and eating area. Beautiful living Room overlooking the lake with sunset views. Super clean. The only suggestion we have is for the addition of kitchen knives for food prep we found only steak knives. We will be back this summer with our boat!

Excellent for a Family Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 3 families/11 people had a great time at A Shore Thing! We were all impressed with how nice it is. It is nicely furnished and has a lot of extras like books and games. The family room was large enough for us to spread out and play games and watch movies. The Living Room was a great place to curl up by the fire and read a book. They have a really cool tradition of having families sign the kitchen table with their family name and year. We had a lot of fun figuring out how to represent all 3 of our family names!

Wonderfully impressed!

  • 5 of 5

We were very happy with "A Shore Thing". Alli Wilson was a delight to work with from beginning to end. My sister and I spent 3 days there with our families. While we were staying at "A Shore Thing", we went skiing and snowboarding at Schuss Mountain, shopping in Traverse City, and to Turtle Creek Casino. Every one of the 14 people in our group was extremely happy with the house . The pictures don't do it justice. The house is beautifully decorated and there is a lot of space for several people. The town of Fife Lake is very cute and the people were very friendly. I'm so glad we chose "A Shore Thing" for our family getaway, we all gave it 2 thumbs up! If you're considering renting "A Shore Thing", you'll be glad you did. We would definitely return. Thanks Alli and Dan for everything.
