HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

  • 5 of 5
We stayed as a family from New Zealand with three teenagers and the property was perfect. There was plenty of room for everyone to spread out, the kitchen and bathrooms were very modern, neat and tidy, and everything worked beautifully. The historic town itself is lovely, and just 100m walk away, with the supermarket just a 30m walk. We stayed in Winter so the location was perfect to visit Carcasonne (45mins), Foix (30 mins) or to ski at Ax Le Therme (1Hr15) dor to door. We highly recommed this property.

CHARMING TOWN, GREAT ACCOMMODATION

  • 4 of 5
Stayed 8 nights at Le Tardis. A fabulous location steps away from the medieval market square. The house was ideal for 6 adults with an array of seating areas, a courtyard, and outside garden seating. The kitchen stocked with a wide variety of equipment and utensils for all events. The house was exactly as seen in the photos. The Monday market in the town square a must see. Allowed us to stock up with provisions for the entire stay.

ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!

  • 5 of 5
We already knew of the delights of Mirepoix - the market, the restaurants etc but we were so pleasantly surprised at how wonderful this house is.
It is extremely well located, just a few seconds walk from the pretty main square but so quiet in both the house and garden. It is beautifully restored, extremely comfortable and well equipped. We loved the hot tub and we all came home wanting to install similar showers to sit in at home!
Although there is no internet, wifi is available in the square at the Mad Hatter and there is free access to computers and printing at the nearby Communauté des Communes .
We most definitely wanted to stay much longer - and maybe sample the figs! Many thanks.

COULDN'T FAULT IT!

Couldn't fault it!

We like to chose places based on their location rather than their facilities as we enjoy sight-seeing rather just sitting around in the sun. Le Tardis delivered in all respects. It is a wonderfully restored property just a couple of minutes from the medieval centre of Mirepoix with plenty of room for up to eight people. The decor is tasteful as well as comfortable and the large modern kitchen well-equipped. As its name suggests, the exterior (with parking) belies the enormous interior, with its different patios and lounge areas. A hot tub in the garden (which is great for boules) was the icing on the cake. Mirepoix provides a variety of eating places catering for all wallets, but the nearby 'huit a 8 ' (a minute's walk) and the well-stocked Super U are useful. A patisserie just up the road creates wonderful ice cream desserts! Head out of Mirepoix (making sure you do not miss the colourful and huge Monday market) and you have a choice of things to do. Being just over half an hour from Carcassonne (and its airport) you can visit the cite and stop off for a tasting at one of the vineyards on the way back. This area is known for its cassoulet and Chez Pap's in Mirepoix do a particulary tasty one. Head south and the Pyrenees open up to you, with the Cathar citadels (Montsegur a must to see) inviting you to climb them, as well as ski resorts with access via cable cars to the upper peaks. All were within an hour's drive of Le Tardis. All in all, a superb location with lots to offer and a property the owners should be very proud of. Beware - talk to the locals in French and you'll be treated like a long-lost friend! We will definitely be recommending Le Tardis to our friends.

BEAUTIFULLY RESTORED FRENCH TOWN HOUSE

  • 5 of 5
Outside at the front Le Tardis looks like just another property. Wait till you get inside though and everything changes. You have a choice of 3 rooms to relax in including the kitchen, additionally there is a large garden space at the rear and small terrace off the kitchen. The bedrooms are spacious and like the rest of the house very tastefully decorated and furnished. House (electrical) equipment is largely new and comprehensive. The 2 showers are very good. Highly recommended. Mirepoix also is beautiful and steeped in history like much of this region. The Monday market is awesome, if a little pricey.

MARVELLOUS MIREPOIX

  • 5 of 5
We had a great week in this very comfortable and ideally located house. Mirepoix itself we thought was fantastic and only about an hour and a quarter from Toulouse airport. The house was great, everything we had hoped for, and we had good weather too. We had a thoroughly relaxing week, catching a lot of the Olympics as well!
It was fantastic to have shops, bars and restaurants right on our doorstep, as well as the very comfortable accommodation. Although we had so many restaurants nearby we also made good use of the very well equipped kitchen. The small supermarket, and boulangerie, only two minutes walk away was a great bonus too. All five of us would recommend both your house and Mirepoix to any of our friends.
The castle at Montségur, the lake at Montbel where we hired mountain bikes, and the old city of Foix were all just a short drive away and well worth visiting.

Set in the foothills of the Pyrenees, in the Hers river valley, equidistant from Foix and Carcassonne, Mirepoix is the best preserved medieval city in the heart of the land of Catharism boasting a cathedral with the largest Gothic nave in France. This delightful house is situated a stone's throw from the 14th century centre with its covered walkways surrounding the square where the vibrant Monday market is held and a ream of events and festivals are staged throughout the year. Enjoy days out - walking/skiing in the Pyrenees, exploring nearby Cathar castles (Montsegur,Roquefixade,Puivert,Lagarde), sail, fish or swim at Lac Montbel, visit Camon and its Abbbey, the ancient church in the rock at Vals, beautiful prehistoric caves (Niaux,Lombives,Mas d'Avril), the Canal du Midi or the Mediterranean - then return 'home' to a glass of wine in the spa. No need to worry about drinking and driving, or even cooking; walk to one of the 15 restaurants on the door step from haute cuisine to pizza
