Grawn House Rental Photos and Description

This remodeled home on a small lake offers fishing, kayaking, biking & peac

Equal distance from Interlochen Center for the Arts and downtown Traverse City, this is the relaxing spot to return to after a day of adventuring in and around our region. The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is 30 miles northwest.

Remodeled, completely winterized 2-bedroom cottage with an open-air design. All the amenities are here for a relaxing stay. A fully equipped kitchen; however, there is no dishwasher. Teas and Coffee/filters will be provided and some condiments in the refrigerator if you choose. One bathroom with endless hot water. Washer/dryer on site. Lots of linens and towels provided. Cable TV has over 125 channels.

Boone's Long Lake Inn is less than a mile away ~ a local favorite for dining and music.

The cottage sits on a quiet, dog-friendly lane. There is a fenced-in area for your pet.

Beautiful sunsets most every night. The deck overlooking the lake has plenty of seating. A charcoal grill on the deck has everything you need except the food. There is a fire pit down by the water with seasoned firewood for your use.

Two kayaks are available, great for fishing and tooling around. The deck and raft area can also be a great place to catch a Bluegill or a Bass.

Detailed maps of nearby bike and walking trails, along with brochures and things to do are available at the cottage. Two bikes are available for your use.

Smoking outside, please. Thanks!

Restful Weekend

  • 5 of 5
We enjoyed our stay in Joni's cottage. The cottage is just a few minutes from Traverse City and located in a quiet wooded sitting. The view of the lake is outstanding and the sunsets were beautiful. We had all of the amenities we needed. The kitchen is small but well equipped. We did not have any issues with low water pressure and had plenty of hot water. Joni allowed me to bring my two little dogs. The road the cottage is located on is very quiet and very relaxing to walk dogs. The cottage exceeded our expectations. Joni was a delight to work with. She responded to emails quickly and was always helpful. I would stay here again.

Week in Traverse City

  • 4 of 5
House was as advertised and fully adequate for what we needed. It is a cute property located on Dyer Lake; the view from the deck and living room (with huge picture window) is fantastic, peaceful and relaxing. We fully enjoyed sitting on the deck or in the living room and watching the lake, especially the sunsets. It was quiet, relaxing and enjoyable. Joni was joy to work with and completely unobtrusive, which is a big plus at VRBO's and something that my aunt and uncle staying in another home struggled with. The property was well maintained and very clean. The location is great as well, far enough out to be quiet and peaceful but easy access to stores, restaurants, the airport and downtown Traverse City.

We did have a number of small complaints. The bed in the main bedroom is small and some of the pillows are not very comfortable. The water pressure in the shower is inadequate and flushing the toilet overwhelms the cottage's water system so you'll have to wait a while before using the shower or even the kitchen sink. There is a three burner cook top and a microwave/convection oven but the kitchen and equipment definitely does not support any large scale or sophisticated cooking. Lastly, the lakeshore behind the house is heavily overgrown with reeds and grasses, so that the only access to the water is off the dock.

Owner's Response: We appreciate your review and thoughtful response ~ you really captured the essence of the cottage's setting, thank you. We thought it would be helpful to others who rent the Cozy Cottage to address your concerns. There are three firmer pillows located in the closet of the second bedroom. Because the water comes from a well, it's a different experience than being on a city system. The shower head has 7 settings and can be adjusted to increase water pressure. We agree, that the kitchen setup might be a challenge for large scale cooking. The buffer of vegetation along the lakeshore is there by design, to stabilize erosion, filter runoff, and improve fish habitat. We hope this review and response helps to paint a clearer picture of what to expect when renting the cottage.

Lovely cottage in perfect location

  • 5 of 5
My family and I enjoyed our stay in Joni's cottage very much. We were in town for Memorial Day weekend to celebrate a family member's graduation. The cottage was perfectly located in a very natural quiet environment, but just 10-15 minutes from everything including Meijer, the Grand Traverse Mall, the TC downtown shopping/eating district, etc. It had all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. We enjoyed waking up to the beautiful view of Dyer lake and taking the two kayaks out on the lake. We had a great bonfire out by the lake one night and that was one of the highlights of our trip. She also allowed me to bring my dog which was my entire reason for renting a home instead of a hotel. My dog looooves water so he had the time of his life. We would definitely stay here again!

Equal distance to Interlochen Center for The Arts and downtown Traverse City, this is a remodeled, winterized cottage with a deck that overlooks a small lake. Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore is 30 miles northwest and Crystal Mountain Resort is 25 miles southeast.

The living/dining/kitchen area offers a spacious feeling. All the amenities are here except a dishwasher. Two bedrooms ~ the lakeside bedroom has a queen and the smaller bedroom has a twin with an airbed. One bathroom with endless hot water. Washer/dryer on site. Linens and lots of towels provided. There will be an assortment of condiments in the refrigerator you are welcome to use, along with teas, coffee and filters.

Great Blue Gill and Bass fishing ~ Bring your poles! You can launch the two kayaks (one is a fishing kayak) from the raft and dock.

Sit on the sofa and watch the sunset every evening ~ maybe the Loon will stop by or a Blue Heron. There's a wood and charcoal grill available with fuel. A natural setting, on a quiet, dog-friendly lane.

Maps, brochures, and things to do are available at the cottage.

Pets are very welcome ~ they're part of the family, right? Smoking outside, please. Oh, and no candles inside. Thanks!

Guests will have access to the two-car garage, wireless Internet, and Apple TV.

I prefer to meet you when you arrive to do a walk-through and answer any questions you may have. I appreciate a phone call when you leave the cottage. I'd appreciate it if you would strip the beds and place linens and towels near the washing machine.

I love this quiet neighborhood, the sunsets over the lake, the solitude; and yet, it is so close to all the things I love. The proximity to Traverse City, Interlochen, Leelanau and Benzie Counties make it a perfect spot to relax after a day of exploring.
