Condo mar is a peaceful retreat in gated Playacar Phase II. 21-condo units with 24-hour guard service. Our guests are cared for by an efficient and lovely bi-lingual property manager (Esperanza). This is a beautiful and unique place. You will really appreciate how special the location is when you see some of the noisy 'on 5th' condos, or others that are miles from 5th avenue.
Please read reviews for more detail on this condo. We really do strive to make everything perfect for your vacation.
We are a family from Canada who has been delighting in the beaches of Playa Del Carmen for more than 15 years. We especially appreciate the idea of having peaceful solitude at Condo MAR, while being able to enjoy the local flavors, music and hospitality that Playa del Carmen offers just blocks from the condo.
Jordan purchased this condo in 2005
Condo MAR H20 is easy to get to -- fly into Cancun Airport and drive south 35 miles. We always feel safe in Playa del Carmen. We find that PDC offers any kind of vacation you choose -- from active diving and sight-seeing, to long, lazy days at the beach. The people are friendly and helpful -- even if you don't speak Spanish, you won't have a problem with communication.
Condo MAR was built in 2005, and is clean and modern. The 15 ft. balcony doors keep the condo light and sunny. Sun-blocker shades in both bedrooms compliment sleepy mornings and afternoon siestas. The central air is zoned for each bedroom, and the bedrooms are separated by the living room / dining room for privacy. Perhaps the best feature: is Esperanza, our property manager in PDC. She will take very good care of you!
We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the condo; how spacious it is and clean. It was very inviting. We, (there were 6 adults) all loved that we could just walk downtown, even to Walmart and just take a taxi back. You are close to everything here. We were in PDC for two weeks from the middle of January to the end. The weather was beautiful. Not too hot, about high 80s maybe. We used the pool at this condo location and the cenote was fabulous! Jordan and Rebecca have a binder of information on what's available in the condo and suggestions around activities to do in PDC. This was extremely helpful to us all from where to eat breakfast and to fine dining and what to do for activities. We quite enjoyed the Alux restaurant which is in a cave but is air conditioned and is welcoming for some people who may feel claustro-ed in this environment. The food there is excellent. Some people may think it is expensive to eat here but we thought it was very reasonable for fine dining. We definitely would return to this condo. Jordan is a very nice owner and makes you feel welcome even at the enquiry stage. The beach is only minutes from this condo. We had two weeks there but would have liked another week. The whole place was kept clean, even the grounds. One thing that I would change though is my attitude in tipping the people that work at the markets. You may purchase a lot from them but they do not end up with that money. Tip them if they ask you for something for them because they work for someone else and their pay is not much at all. I learned this from a taxi driver. I hold a lot of respect for the Mexican people because they work hard and they show their respect for others. We definitely recommend this condo and we so would return for another vacation here.
Very enjoyable stay, even though english is not the security guards first language we had no problem with being able to get access to our rental unit. The unit was spacious, clean, enough cooking utensils for my wife and I (they could use an upgrade). The distance to 5th street was great. At the condo you are in a jungle and walk 5 minutes and you are in the action. The shade around the pool was great for my wife but I enjoy more sun wich was plentiful on the beach that was an easy walk thru the jungle past ruins. We enjoyed the unique addition of swimming in the cenote on the property. Our only concern was having a hard time finding charcoal/ briquettes for the bbq. (went to about 5 places) as it is not propane. We would return to this unit.
Our stay with 6 adults was really fantastic. The condo itself is located far enough away from the strip to avoid the late night loud music but close enough that it was an easy walk to get anywhere. The pool is great and the cenote is really beautiful. It feels like you're away from everything. Unfortunately, December isn't the warmest time in PDC and we didn't get much time to use them. We're really glad we opted for this versus the noisy and touristy downtown area.
Everything from great restaurants and shopping was readily available. The bus station and the colectivos are just a few blocks away which means you can avoid taxis/car rentals if you want to. The beach is a quick walk through a well maintained path in the jungle near Mayan ruins. The beach itself is generally quiet and uncrowded, and you may see some local fisherman hauling in their catch. No snorkeling unfortunately.
We had a pleasant experience with the owners and the onsite managers, they were very responsive and helpful. Make sure you check out the nearby cenote parks and Tulum. The ferry is also super close if you want to do a day trip to Cozumel. Overall a great property in a great location in PDC.
This was our families first visit to playa and we were told that the beach was amazing but when we first stepped onto the beach words cannot explain just how beautiful the snad and water was. We travel all over the world and this is by far one of the nicest beaches we have ever been too. Soft white sand and the clearest water with a vibrant blue color. The condo was amazing and the owners were an absolute pleasure to deal with. They were very attentive to questions before the trip and they even checked on us while we were there which we thought was a great touch. Their house manager Espe was also amazing. She stopped but several times to make sure we were ok and brought us groceries and bottled water. Our family loved the pool but the Cenote was the highlight forour family. Fresh water to cool us off and standing under the waterfall was heaven. There is lots to do in town and everything is literally a few minutes from the condo which truly was the best location. We will definitely be back and maybe without the kids next time as it looks to be a really romantic place as well. It has everything for families and couples and we really fell in love with playa. Best vacation so far!
What a wonderful location for ANY AND EVERYTHING you want to do. Blocks from the shopping and dining on 5th Ave., blocks from the beach and steps from cab stand that will take you anywhere you want to go such as Tulum, Xcaret, etc. Be sure and book a tour with Yucatreks. Wonderful tours for the family as well as couples. Be sure to take a swim in the onsite cenote and indulge yourself with an excellent massage/facial at the salon two blocks away. Be sure to get a home cooked Mexican meal prepared in the condo while you are there.
Perfect Vacation in Playa
We stayed in condo Mar the last week of Feb 2014. It was 4 of us: my parents, my husband and I. We found the condo and service excellent in every aspect:
1. Appearance and amenities.
The condo was spacious, very clean and light. Beds were comfortable. I slept better than at home. All appliances were in great condition and easy to use. And we enjoyed having a full kitchen. My parents had breakfast on the balcony every morning and absolutely loved it.
The condo is located in Playacar. We have been in Playa del Carmen once before and stayed on 5th Avenue. We liked Playacar much better. It was safe, close to the beach and it was nice not having to hear pushy sales people every time we exited the condo.
Condo Mar is located in gated community and it is much more quiet and peaceful than condos on 5th Avenue. The beach was only a few minutes away and it was beautiful, not crowded and had many restaurants that were perfect for lunch or dinner. My parents loved going to the beach early in the morning to watch the sunrise and swim. Something they do not get to do much during Russian winters. :)
The pool and private cenote were great, too. My husband and dad swam in the cenote several times and said that it was an unforgettable experience.
5th Avenue, 10th Avenue and the Pier were all within walking distance. We walked to nearby restaurants every day. Selection of restaurants in Playa is huge. We tried a new place every day and were happy with all of them – food was tasty and the service was always excellent. Our most favorite place for dinner was La Mission. La Vagabunda and Casa Adela’s were good, too. For lunch, we really enjoyed Fusion. It was overall great, but the part we liked the most was its location – right on the beach. We could feel cool breeze and watch sea waves while enjoying tasty food and drinks.
The owners (Jordan and Rebecca) and property managers (Esperanza and Alex) were absolute pleasure to work with. They made all arrangements extremely easy for us. We were greeted by the airport upon arrival. Then we met Esperanza and Alex the same night. They made us feel very welcome. Esperanza checked on us throughout our stay to make sure we had everything we needed.
From beginning to end our stay in Condo Mar was absolutely perfect. It was an unforgettable trip for all of us. My parents described it as “Best Vacation Ever”. And we absolutely agree. I am sure we will be back.
This condo has the best of both worlds. It is only a few minutes to the beach and a few minutes to downtown. You are only minutes from the world famous 5th Avenue that includes amazing restaurants, bars and shopping. You can lay low and relax by the pool and cenote or spend the day at the beach. If you are more adventurous there are many tours and activities that are no more than a 30 minute drive from the condo. Drive to Akumel and go snorkeling if you want to see stingrays and massive sea turtles, take the ferry to Cozumel and scuba/snorkel the 2nd largest reef in the world, rent a car or buggy and drive to Tulum, parasail or rent jetski's on the beach in Playacar, take the kids to wild water kingdom in Cancun or go shopping at their duty free mall, go deep sea fishing, swim with whale sharks in Puerto Morales (near Cancun), take a taxi or drive to Explore that has two zip line courses with some runs landing in the water (very cool), atv's that drive through the jungle and cenotes, swim through underwater cenotes (caves), or visit Xel-Cha and go snorkeling or swim with the Dolphins. For a complete list of activities or if you want some suggestions please feel free and call as we know the area extremely well.
