Overview

Alonissos Villa Rental Photos and Description

2 floors, 3 double bedrooms, 2 wc's, kitchen, livingroom, terrace

A traditional architecture, stone constructed house totalling 138 square meters.

It is a two stories house consisting of three spacious bedrooms and WC upstairs and sitting room, kitchen and WC, downstairs. The “Vilavala” can sleep 6 up to 8 persons.

The house is surrounded by large outside verandas, on different levels, of more than 200 square meters.

It is built on the bank of one of the most marvellous bays of Alonnisos with blue and turquoise clean and crystal clear seawaters.

It is situated amongst pine trees (pinus halepensis), olive threes and carefully looked-after original Mediterranean vegetation.

Since the villa is built on a large olive groove where the only other house is a long way away its secluded position secures total privacy to the residents.

The surrounding landscape conveys the feeling of inner tranquillity while the views over the blue waters below extend all the way to the “gates” of the Marine Park (the protected, for the Monk seals, area).

Suitability:
  • Long-term Renters Welcome
  • children welcome
  • pets not allowed

A real rural retreat in a beautiful setting.

  • 5 of 5
“Green and blue” rather underplays the beauty of this particular corner of Greece for the colours here are really azure, emerald, turquoise and the blue of dark sapphires. Have just got back from our second stay at Villa Vala and have had a wonderful time. As it was mid September there had been some rain, and we did get some terrific storms but everything was freshened up – the pines an astonishing bright green, spires of white foxtail lilies and contrasts of pink cyclamens against the bluey-grey of grass and olive trees lovely. We even found an autumn crocus growing by the track to the house. We were on the East coast of the island, so missed the sunsets but as the light dropped the flat calm sea takes on the sheen of lightly hammered silver and the sky is pearlescent. Once night falls, there is very little light pollution so the sky is littered with stars you never get to see at home.
The house itself is a one off- built as a real family home it fits into its surroundings and is designed to take full advantage of its location – the huge table outside (not to mention barbeque, sink and “pizza oven”; the handy jetty to swim from. Inside is functional but beautifully built with typical niches built into stone walls and exposed timbers roof timbers to take advantage of the carefully worked timbers. And all around the house is an eclectic mix of original artworks and old agricultural and building tools.
The infrastructure for wi-fi has only just arrived in the village and the house wasn’t connected but I don’t think we missed it (it is promised for next season). It is possible to pick up a connection at various tavernas if you really miss it. We didn’t even try to switch the TV on. Just sat out at night and chatted and tried to identify the stars. Most evenings we ate out in Steni Vala – an easy enough walk with a torch – but barbequing fish, courgettes and peppers at home was very successful.
So, if you are looking for an identi-kit holiday villa with all mod cons this may not be the spot for you but if you want something less packaged my recommendation would be to take whatever you need for the beach (I like to snorkel in search of octopuses) a good book, some watercolours and perhaps a starchart and prepare to be seriously relaxed.

What you see is what you get!

We had a wonderful stay, at Vila Vila. We were looking for a relaxing holiday on a beautiful island and that is exactly what Yannis delivered. No need for a car, we spent our days swimming, snorkelling, eating, kayaking, walking. Steni Vala with its choice of restaurants and small grocery stores was an easy walk away, and just beyond that was a beautiful beach with sun loungers and drinks!
The house is basic but adequate, a bit disappointed with the lack of WiFi. TV didn't work either which wouldn't normally matter had it not been for the World Cup! The house made up for its shortfalls with plenty of charm and natural beauty! My kids were especially happy with the swing! We were especially happy with the view! Yannis a most helpful and attentive host. Thank you!

Owner's Response: Dear Sally,
Thank you for your review and your kind words for Vilavala. It is encouraging for us to read such reviews so we can always do our best to offer a happy holiday time to our guests. Thank you also for your helpful remarks about the WiFi. Unfortunately at that time this matter was resting with the telephone company and as Vilavala stands alone away from the village it was a matter of time to complete the relevant infrastructure. Happily as from now Vilavala is equiped with WiFi.
Again, I would like to thank for your kind words
Best regards form Alonnisos

Peace, calm, tranquility

  • 5 of 5
We had a wonderful stay in Vila Vala in June, 2014, and Yannis was the perfect host. As the pictures show, the house is above the bay of Agios Petros with its beautiful clear waters, and the view from the balcony outside "our" bedroom was so gorgeous that it was sometimes hard to drag ourselves away from it, whether for a swim off the jetty, a kayak trip round the headland, a relax on the small beach, or a stroll into Vila Vala for a tasty meal.
If you're looking for a modern villa with regular maid service close to well-stocked shops, keep looking. If you're seeking peace and quiet (apart from the noisy birds and cicadas!) in a simple traditional house among pine and olive trees, well off the beaten track, in a stunning setting on one of the most peaceful Greek islands, then choose Vila Vala. Just not on the dates WE want it!

Vilavala honeymoon

  • 5 of 5
We had an amazing honeymoon at Vilavala . From the craftsmanship of the house and its beautiful setting overlooking the crystal clear water to the clean and tasteful decorating with antiques and artwork , we couldn't have found a better place . Thank you Yannis ! You were so helpful and welcoming . We cherish the hand painted wine bottle you gave us for a wedding gift .
Vilavala is private and relaxing but also such a short walk to Steni Vala that going out for a bite to eat (5 or 6 restaurants ! ) or to get groceries was very convenient . We didn't have or need a car . Swimming , kayaking , hiking , eating , drinking and just hanging out . It was perfect !

A wonderful and peaceful place in Greece

  • 5 of 5
This holiday was our first on Alonissos. The host Janis was very polite and serviceminded . The house is very nice and there is a fantastic view to the sea from the bedrooms. The water was warm even though, it was autum and "out of season",. We swam every day. We can highly recommend this place.

Greetings from Denmark !

Map

Agios Petros.

Agios Petros is a lovely secluded beach next to Steni Vala with inviting sandy bottom dotted with colonies of Poseidonia sea-weeds. The nearest village is Steni Vala (only 500 m) whereas the Port of Patitiri is 8 km.

Originally the valley of Agios Petros was an agricultural area, the domain of two Alonnisos families, who patiently worked the land planting olive trees on the slopes and vines, orange trees and lemon trees in the flatland. The agricultural past of Agios Petros still remains its predominant feature as the villa owners went into great pains not to destroy even a single tree, in some cases they even enriched the existing varieties by planting more.

In the valley of Agios Petros there existed two private wells for the needs of the families private or agricultural. A third “public well” was dug up close to the beach for the use of the Sheppards of the surrounding hamlets of Isomata ,Gouves and Steni Vala.
