This beautiful cedar siding home is located just 25 minutes from downtown Asheville North Carolina. Within a 15-20 minute drive you can access the Wolf Ridge ski slopes, golfing (Mount Mitchell or Mountain Air), zip lines, the Blue-Ridge Parkway, gem mining, white-water rafting, horseback riding, and some of the most amazing hiking trails you’ve ever meandered. We hope you will fall in love with this home as much as we have over the years.
My partner and I grew up in the mountains of Western North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee and fell in love with the area. I am a professor and my partner is an engineer. We have two daughters and feel so blessed to own property in what we both know to be the most beautiful open place we have ever visited. We love Asheville and hope you find as much joy in this house as we have over the years.
Chris Cain purchased this house in 2005
My colleagues and I have tried to work at hotel conference centers before, and had some success, but this location brought a whole other level to our synergy and productivity. The house is nestled in the trees and the quiet atmosphere is a perfect place to relax and re-energize. The layout of the house allowed for several different work spaces when we needed to divide tasks, but also allowed for us to meet in a comfortable common area. We all had our computers connected to Wi-Fi and were able to get so much accomplished! The owner is incredibly easy to work with and responded to our questions quickly. When we looked at the cost of a hotel conference center meeting room plus the cost of our hotel stays, this option was significantly more economical. We were able save money with our food budgets as well. The kitchen is well-equipped for food preparation. I also liked that it's within about a 10 minute drive into Burnsville where there are some lovely little shops and restaurants. The grocery store has a Starbucks! We will definitely be choosing this location again for our future work retreats. I'm even planning on using it as a family vacation spot.
Our family had a great stay at this house for the Easter weekend during a long road trip south for Spring Break. Clean, comfortable and plenty of room for our 2 boys to stretch their legs. The kitchen had all utensils, pots, pans and amenities needed to make nice home cooked meals. The two full baths were nice, and the bedrooms were clean and tidy. And of course the hot tub was great to come back to after a long day of exploring the nearby mountains. The owner, Chris, was very helpful and accessible during our stay. Just what we needed... A nice relaxing stop.
Whispering Pines was so welcoming that it felt like home, the views were stunning, beds were comfortable & the accommodation was very clean. We all enjoyed the hotub & lazing around inside the cabin & sitting on the rockers on the front porch watching the sun go down. The location is perfect for sight seeing we had such a wonderful time that we will be coming back again plus it was great to be able to bring our dog who loved the long walks in the mountains & the comfortable dogs bed you had. Many thanks, highly recommend.
My family had the most wonderful weekend at Whispering Pines. It was my husband's 40th birthday celebration weekend, and we could not have picked a better spot. We arrived to snow on the ground, which totally made our weekend. Waking up Saturday morning to the beautiful scenery was absolutely amazing, watching the blue birds flying around. We were able to cook several great meals in the fully loaded kitchen, having everything we needed on hand. And of course all five of us had a blast in the hot tub. With the snow on the ground, the kids were able to sled at various locations on the property. We traveled to Wolf Ridge for skiing and snow tubing and ventured into Burnsville to shop & sight see. The kids had a contest who could locate the most quilt blocks. :)
We will most definitely be back, hopefully around the same time every year. And we will recommend this great cabin to all our friends too, just not the same weekend we want it! So many thanks!
You have a beautiful home and the stay was exilent very quiet and peaceful. I didn't know how to arm the alarm at night it just kept beeping so weedy it off. Coming from the city we are used to having that at night when we sleep. Other then that the stay was great. Thanks again for letting us stay on such short notice.
Everything was great. Would of preferred better bedding but all was great
After being stuck in traffic for some time in the town of Burnsville because of road construction I was delighted when I finally pulled into the driveway of this beautiful house rental. The directions given made it easy to find the place on Google maps so when I actually got there I felt right at home. The house was clean, well taken care of, and looked like it did in the photos. I was surprised to see that the rental came with a blender which is something I thought it would not have available. The kitchen was very modern and had every cooking utensil I needed. I enjoyed working out with the Bowflex and thought the jets on the hot tub were amazing. I also enjoyed lying on the sofa with the electric fireplace going watching movies on the big screen as well. The owner answered all my questions and was very good with working with me on adding an extra night as well.
