Cabo's best deal by a mile!
The owner has been visiting Cabo for over 20 years, finds it hospitable, the Mexican culture friendly and intriguing, and finally decided to invest in high standard accommodations for visitors and friends to come and stay at a central location.
Russ Jackson purchased this house in 2013
This particular property was selected because of its fabulous views, accessibility to the downtown location and beach area. It's the 'star jewel' of all downtown locations and as of August 4th/2013, is my maiden voyage in vacation property rentals. I love it so much that I reside in the lower unit. Come and visit!
This is such an amazing property that I have made this my home on the lower level. I fell in love with the 360º views and the sunrise/sunset, and decided to make this home available for others to enjoy as well. The gated property makes it feel secure, is extremely private, and protects vehicles.
The house is very quaint and lovely! Russ, the owner was great. He drove us to Walmart for some groceries, which was very kind and appreciated. The house is very nice and comfortable. The 2 decks are great. Sun, sun, sun and always a shady spot if you need it. A short 15 minute walk to the Marina. Only $100 peso taxi ride home after a long day of fishing. Russ was a wealth of knowledge! You must try the Cabo Cantina, great food at good prices, lots of TV for all kinds of sports, fabulous service and the owner is very hands on. Russ, thanks so much for sharing your home and Cabo with us! We will be back again!
Russ was amazing from first contact for booking the Duplex. He met us as we showed up and walked through the unit and gave us an idea about things to do in town as we enjoyed a beer that he had supplied in the fridge for our arrival. Shortly after that Russ gave us a ride into town to walmart to pick supplies for our stay.
It is just a short walk into town and the marina. Plenty of restaurants and bars within a five to ten minute walk. It was nice and quiet when you get home at the end of the day. The unit comes equipped with wifi and cable tv if you need to reconnect with the outside world. Russ even drove us back to the airport for our flight home.
When we make our way back to Cabo San Lucas we will be contacting Russ to see if his place is available. We definitely will be recommending Russ's place to friends and family.
Thanks a million Russ for all the recommendations on places to see and eat throughout our stay. It was great to find an owner that was so nice to deal with and enjoyed having a couple of drinks at the beach and getting to know you as well.
The duplex is in a perfect location that is far enough from the action to be quiet and close enough to get to the hot spots on foot. We walked to the marina every day. It took about 20 minutes walking slowly. We did snorkeling, a camel safari and zip-line with Cabo Adventures located in the marina. Cabo Wabo, Squid Roe, the luxury mall and most of the attractions are along the marina. Medano Beach is right there as well. One day, we rented a car to drive out to Los Cerritos for surfing and then drove a little further to Todos Santos to have dinner at the Hotel California.
There are beautiful mountain views from the windows. You can also see a little of the water. One night I saw the lights of a cruise ship through the window.
My friend and I are runners. We hiked / jogged up the nearby mountains. At the top, you can see almost all of Cabo San Lucas.
There are restaurants everywhere. On the walk to the marina, you will find plenty of choices that are more authentic and less expensive than those on the marina. If you want to stock your fridge, there is a convenience store nearby. I bought milk there. You can pay in US dollars and get pesos as change. Make sure you have pesos if you want to buy food at the airport. They charge double to use US dollars at the airport.
Russell, the homeowner offered to drive us to Walmart and I accepted. Russell is friendly and conversational. I got a call from him before I booked and he answered all my questions about Cabo. This was my first trip to Mexico. He will also check on you and bring you more purified water in a water cooler jug. He stocks the fridge with local beer and coca-cola and the freezer with ice for your arrival.
There are beach towels in the bathroom. There is a gas stove and pots, pans, and dishes to use. There is a grill on the rooftop. Internet, cable, and land-line are included.
Five of us stayed in the duplex. Two per bed in each of the two bedrooms and I slept on a cot in the living room.
Russell was extra generous and drove two of us to the airport on a Saturday afternoon.
We had an excellent week long stay at this property. It is a short walk to the marina/downtown area and is fully equipped with everything we needed to feel at home. The balcony is a great place to watch the sun rise over the ocean in the morning or bbq or have drinks in the evening. There is also wifi and tv with both english and spanish language channels for those that can't disconnect completely. Russ the owner was very easy to work with and super helpful and friendly. We explored the area, took several tours including snorkeling, zip lining, and camel riding (at Cabo Adventures, a short walk away and they provide the transportation from there). Also an easy hour drive to Cerritos/Todos Santos, perfect for a day trip. Overall the marina view duplex is an excellent place to set up your base camp while at Cabo.
My girlfriend and I stayed at the Marina View Duplex for a week in January. We really enjoyed our time there. Russ, the owner was very friendly and helpful. We didn't rent a car during our trip and opted to walk 5 minutes into town or 10 to the beach. When we needed to go further Russ was more than happy to give us a ride. The view from the roof is amazing. This property is great for someone who doesn't care for resorts and wants a more traditional experience. Someday we might visit Cabo again. If we do, we'll give Russ a call first.
We stayed with Russ for four nights heading into easter holidays and we had an amazing time! Russ came to pick us up from downtown to take us to the apartment which is a 10-15 minute walk from downtown and we instantly fell in love with the place. The view from the roof is incredible (I recommend watching the sun rise!), there's a shower and a fridge up there for you to sit back and chill with an ice cold beer after a hard day at the beach! Russ, the owner who lives downstairs, took us to the supermarket to buy our food supply and took us for a tour downtown, showing us where the beach is and the nigtlife as well, all of which is very close or just 80 pesos in taxi. Russ really accomodated for our every need and helped us out with suggestions on sights to see and beaches to visit. We had an incredible time in los cabos and a large part of it was thanks to Russ and his great hospitality as well as the flat which is in cabo san lucas but somehow doesn't suffer from the noise pollution of the centre. We cannot wait to visit baja california sur again!
Adjacent to Cabo San Lucas' luxury Pedregal area, walkable to downtown marina district and 'Restaurant Row'. Also, minutes walk to One Medano Beach.
