Why Alex chose Summerhome Park

We felt in love with this area, been renting at Summerhome Park since 1990s before buying this unique property in 2011. Property completely updated/upgraded since: all bathrooms are new as well as whole lower level. Property located among magic redwoods on the bottom of the Ice Box Canyon - 200 feet from Russian river. We have our private beach located on 2 separate parcels and can enjoy the river during Spring - Fall time (April-November). A lot of activities around: wine tasting of the World Class Sonoma County wineries, Korbel just across the river. Night-life, restaurants in Guerneville within 10 min driving. We also love to shop at various antique stores in Healdsbourg and Sebastopol within 15-20 min of driving.

What makes this house unique

The Retreat is located among stunning redwood trees that naturally shade the decks for comfortable outdoor dining and is surrounded by a beautiful fence crafted in Japanese traditions, that gives it ultimate privacy.

The weather is generally sunny and beautiful from April through October, yet as our property is also only 35 minutes from the Pacific Ocean, the cooler marine air nearby keeps the summer days from getting too hot. Night time temperatures are cool and refreshing.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Karnika from AIRBNB

This place was perfect for 7 friends to spend a summer weekend together on the river. There was plenty of inside and outside space (3 decks), bathrooms (2.5), towels and kitchen tools. The location is perfectly convenient, easy to find, and all instructions were very clear. The house is clean and inviting with comfortable couches, chairs and beds. Alex is a wonderful host, easy to reach and replies quickly. We would love to return to this gem.

Great house, terrific trip

  • 5 of 5

This was a trip to celebrate my husband's and my 60th birthdays with our adult children. We had a great time, even though we temporarily stopped the California drought with several days of rain! The house was in a great location for us, we went to several wineries, a brewery, the ocean and a favorite, the Anderson Redwoods State Park. The wine when we arrived at the house was greatly appreciated along with the excellant directions sent to us! The house was just as advertised and although we had some wet weather the hot tub and sauna were well used. All in all it was a wonderful trip! Thanks Alex!

Labor day at Sonoma Russian River valley

  • 5 of 5

Alex has done an amazing job making sure his home is welcoming and that you have everything you need from towels to canoe paddles. The location is extremely peaceful and private. We are already itching to go back. 5 stars

I immediately started looking at home listings in this area when I got back - haha.

Your house is amazing and extremely welcoming. We definitely want to come back in the near future if you will have us. Cheers, Chris

Labor Day Weekend Retreat

  • 4 of 5

My family and I rented this home for Labor Day weekend. Unfortunately there was a 4 night minimum and we could only stay for 3, so we ended up "forfeiting" a night. This made for an expensive get away. There are 2 separate living spaces here; there's an apartment downstairs which easily sleeps 4 and two bedrooms in the main house on top. There is also a pull out sofa that could sleep a small child. The decks on the house are wonderful for outdoor dining. The steps down to the river are very, very steep (would be difficult with small children) with a small access space. Only room for 3 or so people to comfortable sit. But the river is gorgeous. About 6 miles or so to Guerneville and 8 or so to Healdsburg. Good location. Fully stocked house with good kitchen supplies. No cell service. Axex was very nice to work with. He left a bottle of wine and chocolates for us upon arrival. Thanks Alex.

Great Sonoma Wine Country getaway

  • 5 of 5

It was a great place for my family, closed to local wineries, yet you feel remote from city living surrounded by beautiful nature. Private lower level apartment works really good for my son's family. We enjoyed dinners in Guerneville and Wine Road - Barrel Tasting in Healsburg, great food and beautiful food.

Alex was easy to work with, responsive and very helpful - gave us plenty of info, good directions, etc. We are planning to stay a week this summer.

Great RRV Getaway -- Quiet & Remote, yet Conveniently Located to wineries and river activities

  • 5 of 5

We rented this updated rustic cabin for Thanksgiving week. We were a party of 6: grandparents, adult children & two grandchildren. We stayed in the downstairs 1 BR efficiency suite with our own bath; and the kids and grandkids stayed in the upstairs 2 BR with one large bathroom (with jacuzzi tub, shower stall & sauna) and a separate 1/2 bath.

The house itself has one large living & kitchen area, with an eating bar, upstairs, with a second living area and kitchenette downstairs (it opens directly outside with a sliding panel door or to the downstairs BR, which has an additional exterior door). We did not realize that the upstairs & downstairs aren't connected "inside" - you have to use the outside stairs to go from one area to the other. It's not a big deal, we just kept shoes handy at the door; and, with a 3 yr old & 5 month old, it provided a bit of separation from the noise and commotion of the kiddos.

Overall, the house is an updated rustic cabin: updates in the kitchen, bathrooms, downstairs, central heat, Wifi, etc., yet very comfortable and quaint with electric fireplaces (no wood burning), views of the redwoods from every window & large outdoor decks. The decks wrap around the house and provide privacy if you choose to use the hot tub or sit outside and enjoy the porch views of the trees & the RR. It was a bit chilly to use the deck, but with latching gates at the top of the stairs, it was safe for the 3 yr old.

The kitchen is a bit tight, but it is fully equipped with a nice frig, gas range & oven and new dishwasher. We cooked a full Thanksgiving dinner (always a challenge in someone else's kitchen), & there were plenty of dishes, utensils, service wear, pots & pans, etc. Only thing I couldn't find was a cookie sheet. The upstairs BRs both open off of the main living area, and the full bath and half bath are adjacent to the living area. The upstairs beds are very comfy, with nice furniture and finishings. The sheets and towels are all very new and fluffy. There is sufficient storage if you plan on bringing a bunch of clothes. The primary bathroom is huge, with a large jacuzzi and the separate shower. The bathroom has a zen vibe - very relaxing. The half-bath is convenient with a crowd.

We walked down the steps to the river (about 100' away) & enjoyed the scenic fall views of the RR. The steps are a bit steep, but manageable. Fun!

The owner was delightful to work with & gave us plenty of info, good directions, etc. Very helpful.
