Our family has vacationed in Cloudcroft for 70 years. Our dad started coming up when he was 17 with friends to get out of the Texas heat. Later, family vacations with grandparents, cousins and friends created great memories.
We have owned this home for 10 years as a long-term rental and recently renovated and decorated it for vacation rental. It is comfortable and convenient to everything. It is our piece of Cloudcroft, which we have loved for a lifetime!
We had a good time at this property. It was clean and we enjoyed the fireplace. It is located close to town and everything you might need. I would have given it 5 stars, but the bathroom door doesn't stay shut. Fix that and this is a great place for the price.
My wife and I spent 2 nights here. Over all the cabin is quit and cozy with all the firewood you can burn. However the bathroom door wont stay closed, the first time I showered it would not drain until I pulled the little wire basket out. We use VRBO 2 to 3 times a year on our travels. How is it that every kitchen use the same dollar store special eating and cooking ware. I thought I was using play forks to eat with they are about half sized than normal. One of large spoons would just bend and was useless. Overall we enjoyed our stay and the cabin was comfortable. Oh and the flannel sheets need to be replaced they have little flannel pills on them and that makes them rough. The beds did sleep good.
This cabin was exactly what we were looking for -- clean, cozy, and we'll maintained. The beds were comfortable, and we had no complaints about anything. We'd happily stay here again.
No frills, but there was everything that we needed. We had a lovely time. Beautiful area, lots of trails close by, and beautiful things to see right there and with in a short drive. The master bed was comfortable, we thought.
Some how, I got the impression that there was a back yard that went with this property, but it is fenced off as far as we could tell, which is sort of a bummer if you were to have kids that may want to play outside while you are at the house, because there isn't a front yard either.
Also, you may want to pick up some kindling and some fire starter logs, otherwise if it's wet out, you'll have a tough time finding some dry kindling. They provided giant quartered chunkers, that were damp, and a few sheets of newspaper for our four day stay. We weren't resourceful enough to get a fire maintained, even with the 3 hour starter log we bought.
Good news, there is a heater!
Despite my couple of complaints, the price was great and we had an awesome time. It was nice that it seemed that each family before us had likely bought, and left behind, something useful for the next visitor, which we thought was pretty cool. There were a few kitchen ingredints left behind, mostly condiments and also someone had left a sled, we think, which we had a lot of fun with, thank you! When we left, we also left behind another sled, so now there are two!
Thank you for letting us use your home.
We would come back for sure. :)
We had a memorable Thanksgiving in this cozy cabin. Our boys loved the day bed and cow skin rug! We loved the big stone fire place and open living area. The kitchen had everything we needed and EV kept everything well stocked. The house is right on the road but it dead ends and we didn't see many cars. The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of linens. The cabin is very convenient to town and it was pet friendly. We will definitely be back! Oh and the kids loved the snow! EV was very helpful with booking and checkin and always available for questions.
Bad mattress on queen bed, oven dirty and cabinets need cleaning, but nice fireplace and generally comfortable. Front porch is on road, so no scenic views. Good value for the price.
This home is located a short walk from gorgeous National Park hiking trails, the historic Lodge with a fine restaurant, popular golf course, and spa, and is a short drive to many other trails, scenic overlooks, and ski area. Hunters come from near and far for the elk, deer, bear and turkey. A wonderful museum entertains young and old, with a winter skating rink adding to the fun. The town offers shopping variety and several very good restaurants all within walking distance. Many local artists come for the views and inspiration. A small but scenic ski area is very close. A gorgeous 20 minute drive to Alamogordo offers roadside shops, fruit stands (in season) and views not to be missed. Further away is White Sands missile range and the observatory. Friday nights in the fall brings out team spirit as the Bears football team rules in their new stadium.
