Want to bring your dog? Firefly is pet-friendly – just ask!
We just love the Bryson City area, particularly the Nantahala/Wesser region. We're looking forward to retiring here in the not-too-distant future.
Debra Holland purchased this cabin in 2013
We've owned another cabin in the same area for a few years now, and when this one came available, we were delighted to be able to purchase it from our neighbor.
This cabin isn't too big; it's cozy and comfortable with nice amenities. The location puts you near the NOC and all the best hiking, paddling, and other outdoor activities the area has to offer.
The Firefly cabin is exactly what you would expect it to be, but the view is even better than any of the pictures. The owners have thought of everything. The kitchen had good quality dishes, pans, silverware, appliances (including a blender), gas grill, etc. We had Wi-Fi, which is helpful, and the TV's were both newer. We cooked most of our meals at the cabin shopping at Ingles Market nearly every day. Also nice to have a washer & dryer. The owner made sure we had plenty of firewood, which was so thoughtful. We had several fires and didn't even make a dent in it. The stars and sounds were incredible! The cabin is about 15 minutes to Bryson City and very close to the NOC. When you turn off Highway 19 to Wesser Creek Road, which leads to the cabin, it is about a mile of gravel road going up. We have an all-wheel SUV and had no problem getting up the road. It is a great walk/run if you're into that! Downtown Bryson City was most enjoyable with so many nice people. We first went the the Visitor Center and they have tons of information. We enjoyed "Mountain Perks," where the owner, Jeff, gave us lots of good information of what to do. Taking the "Road to Nowhere" was Jeff's FABULOUS recommendation. Check out "McClanahan's Collectibles" shop. Very unique items! Island Park is recommended by locals. It needs a little attention with regard to garbage & some debris, but it is surrounded by the Tuckasegee River, which makes it worth checking out. If you have an opportunity to drive to the Fontana Lake area/Highway 129 a.k.a. Tail of the Dragon, the views are amazing! We had our dog, Sid, and appreciated being able to have him with us. The area is pet-friendly in if they have outdoor dining, you can bring your dog. We would have loved to go rafting and zip lining, but we don't think our dog would have enjoyed that! Next time. We would absolutely stay here again and would highly recommend it. Thanks to all who made it happen.
This cabin is as advertised, it is nice, clean, tucked away, and everything you could ask for in a relaxing atmosphere. The views are beautiful, the yard and home are well done, great for dogs, and most importantly, it is quiet! Me and my wife took our newborn 7 week old and two dogs on an east coast road trip while we live on this side of the country for a year. This was the nicest place we stayed while on that trip. Even the driveway/road is an experience that makes you feel like you are getting remote. Thanks for renting this awesome place. Close to the NOC and great viewing and hiking as well.
Stayed at Firefly Cabin for a week in October with a friend and found it to be charming and secluded. Cabin is well furnished and is situated on a small point with great views. We loved using the outside fire pit and sitting on the porch in morning watching mist move off the mountain. Cabin is close to the NOC and Bryson City. We hiked daily on local trails and made a day trip to cal casino. We will be back.
This cabin was absolutely perfect for our family of 5! We cooked some meals in the beautiful kitchen, out on the grill, and also explored and ate in the nearby towns. We spent an entire day tracking down the breathtaking waterfalls in the area, but were just as happy checking out the view from the porch. The most enjoyable part of our stay was chasing the fireflies and eating s'mores by the fire! We would highly recommend this cabin to anyone seeking a nature getaway.
What an amazing location! It's incredibly hard to capture the true beauty of the scenery in a picture, you have to see it firsthand.
From the time we pulled into the driveway, we felt right at home. Our stay at Firefly was nothing short of perfect. We decided to take our pup and get away for the Holidays this year, and what a great choice this was.
Home cooked meals in the full kitchen each night left us with little to explore food-wise around the town, though we did make it down to the Cork & Bean in Bryson City (highly recommended!). We spent our Christmas day beside a bonfire under the sun, sipping on wine and enjoying the peacefulness of the mountains.
I cannot put into words the beauty of the area. We felt at ease and relaxed as we made our journey home to the city, and vowed to return to Nantahala as soon as our work schedules allow!
Debra was wonderfully accommodating, even sending us directions to some of the local hiking trails. If you have a chance, check our the blue marked trail that leads to the AT at the end of the driveway. The views are unbelievable!
Our family enjoyed themselves much! The owners took time to make the cabin very home and comfortable. Our dog loved the laying in the front yard by the fire pit. The owners made sure we had plenty information at the cabin so we could see all the things going on locally. The scenery was amazing! The fire place in the house is the best way to wind down before bed.
