Sands Ocean Club - The Party Place

The Sands Ocean Club is GREAT if you are in college and looking to party. Tons of young people in the pool, even playing Beer Pong. But, if you are a family with young children as we are, in my opinion, I don't think it's a wonderful atmosphere for young eyes and ears. The location of the building is the absolute best, Shore drive is right in the center of everything, can't beat that. The building itself was probably top notch back in the day when it was built, but now it seems a bit run down, some upgrading from the building owners would be a help. It was nice that River City Cafe was right in the building, that was great. And when we were not at River City for lunch, the $1.00 hot dogs and hamburgers that were offered by the building was perfect for a family on a budget. As for the room, I thought it was a bit on the small side. There was a problem with the refrigerator not keeping the food cold, but after a phone call to the owners they had a repair person out right away. After the repair, we still didn't have ice, since the repairman said the ice maker was "shot", but at least the food was keeping cold at that point. There was a leak from the Air Conditioner unit located in the closet, it worked fine, but I needed to empty two sand buckets full of water placed under the leak about every other day. Not the end of the world, but it would be nice to not have to deal with that when you are on vacation. Overall we had a very nice vacation, but I do believe this building is better suited for college kids or families with teenagers that are accustomed to a party atmosphere.
