Every one can have a place of privacy to read, take a nap, watch their own TV, have a private telephone conversation, etc. Also, you can access Netflix for movies in the Living Room TV, WiFi is provided.

About Maria Angle

I am sole owner of the property. I've raised three grown children in this beautiful home, all male. I have worked in the business world, in the aeronautics industry, legal, as a court reporter and paralegal on environmental law suits, in a hospital setting, in commercial real estate at the Port of Oakland for 10 years and finally found my passion in the hospitality industry as an outside food sales person, as Director of Special Events at Gramma's Bed & Breakfast just down the street from UC Berkeley campus, a wedding planner, wedding consultant, event planner, caterer, meeting planner, fund raiser for Marines returning from Iraq, At Preservation Park event site in downtown Oakland, I was booking 100+ events a month.

Maria Angle purchased this apartment in 1976

Why Maria Angle chose Alameda

I have kept this large property in excellent condition considering its age. It has a gorgeous double lot and is beautifully landscaped. I have done many special events here and catered, including several small weddings over the past 18 years. As people enter through the front door, their exclamations are amazement over its uniqueness of interior design and its feeling of Cape Cod or French influences.

It's sunny and bright with beautiful sunsets in the evenings. A lovely house to live and be a guest in, also it is very quiet.

What makes this apartment unique

The benefits of staying here are free parking for one car in driveway. Laundry facility downstairs at $5.00 per load due to the draught. Detergent is provided. The best thing is that you are able to walk or bicycle to the beach, shopping on Park Street, with many unique stores to venture into. A mall shopping area at South Shore with a Safeway and Trader Joe's, Walgreens, Redbox there to rent movies, Kohls, TJ Maxx, Ross, across the street from the SF Bay, close to the Oakland Airport, and the best weather in the East Bay area. Close proximity to entertainment venues, a large stadium for professional sports and entertainment. Easy access to transportation to San Francisco. The backyard offers comfort relaxing, tanning, and reading a book, grilling, dining al fresco. The beauty of the interior offers golden sun in the evenings and a romantic environment with a warmth of a home on the beach.

Love This Place. Best Apartment I've Ever Rented on Vacation

  • 5 of 5

I've rented this apartment twice, finding it the first time through Craiglist. I am glad Maria decided to list it here because it really is a wonderful find. The home is decorated beautifully and it's on a cozy, quiet street. Alameda is such a walkable city and the apartment is close to Park Street, the beach, several local parks and a mall where you can find shops, restaurants and a grocery store. I was in town for the birth of my niece and several family members came to hang out with me. The apartment is set up with every amenity you could think of, it's incredibly clean and well cared for. Maria is attentive, engaging, thoughtful and a true hostess. Looking forward to staying in Alameda on my next trip. I just cannot recommend this vacation rental enough. The lagoon views are wonderful for reading, writing or just daydreaming. Enjoy!

Owner's Response: Nichelle, Thank you so much for taking the time out of your busy schedule. As a screenwriter, I would imagine, Hollywood is a very, demanding and busy place to work, especially in the TV world. You have always left the flat just as you found it. I know it's great to be with family for those special occasions. and the "Welcome" mat is always open to you and your husband" for another stay on this lovely island. Maria

A charming apartment in a great location!

  • 5 of 5

This was a very charming apartment in a great location in Alameda. The owner was wonderful. She made sure that she was there to greet us and show us around, and she was also there to see us off. Although she lived in the apartment below the rental, she respected our privacy and was there only if we needed her. The apartment had everything that we needed and was spotlessly clean!! The house is near the lagoon and has a beautiful back yard, which we were able to use. We look forward to renting this apartment again in the future.

Owner's Response: Ted and Judy, It was really so nice to have such a special couple here for your stay to visit your family and grandson. Thank you for the wonderful Review and selecting my Flat for your stay. I was thrilled that you took advantage of the backyard playing cards with your grandson in the sunshine. You took such good care of the Flat and were so quiet. I would love to have you back again! Hope that this year will be filled with joy. Maria

The house is a delight, and the suite upstairs is very nice and tasteful. there are 2 spacious bedrooms and a nice kitchen and sitting area. The back yard and patio are nicely landscaped , and the house is on a cul de sac in a quiet area. the house is a treasure with lots of nice details. Try to count all the windows!!

Great place

  • 5 of 5

This was a great flat between the main drag on Park St and the shopping center. The apartment was clean, uncluttered, private and well-laid out. I would definitely stay there again if going to Alameda. Maria was a great hostess who was always available but never in your way. It made for a great family vacation!

Owner's Response: Holiday Greetings to all of you! What can I say about how gracious it was for you to write such a nice "Review" I can't tell you how much I appreciated you taking the time to do so. You all were so quiet upstairs and Peter was so kind and helpful for gluing my little Italian car light on. It's the little things that count and I've always thought that "Kindness Matters". And you all were just that kind. Morton's Restaurant brought back many memories. If you are ever back, I certainly will give you the red carpet. Maria

We had a great time staying at Maria's rental. It was a beautiful home and had everything we needed. The location was perfect! It is on a quiet street that is a short walk to downtown where we found several great restaurants. Maria was a great hostess and we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!

We had a really wonderful stay at Maria's place. The flat is charming, spacious, clean and really comfortable. Maria is a perfect host and made us feel right at home. The views are amazing, and the backyard is a beautiful place to relax.

We were traveling with our 14 month old and the rental was perfect for that as well. Alameda is also a relaxing but interesting little city. It was a great home base for visiting friends in all of the Bay Area. All in, it was a great experience.

Owner's Response: Eric & Shirley, I'm so happy you chose my flat for your last leg of your vacation otherwise I never would have met you both and your beautiful little Henry. He stole my heart. Thank you so much for your review, but most of all for taking the time to write it with such a busy schedule you both have. I was so glad to get to know you better and getting together outdoors on the Gazebo enjoying food and wine and crackers and cheese. It made it a very special evening. I hope to see you again the next time I am in NY. I've never been to Brooklyn and would love to take some time roaming around your little city. I've heard it has become very trendy. Thank you for leaving the Flat so nice. I've enjoyed a few of the many goodies you left in the refrigerator and other vacationers will be happy to see so many items left by your visit here. Give Baby Henry a hug for me! Maria

An island is a special place to live in, especially here in Alameda. I live within walking distance of every type of activity there is on the island, so it makes it possible not to have an automobile because of its public transportation choices. You never get enough of sight seeing the beautiful historic homes here in Alameda, and the various neighborhoods. It has an invigorating climate, manicured parks, homes graced by shade tree-lined streets covering the island's 12 square miles. This is a city where many people walk and bicycle around the city. Several tennis courts, paddle board lessons on the beach with wind surfing, kite surfing, kite flying, sand castle contests. There is also the Alterena Playhouse that features an opportunity for residents to act in a small intimate playhouse. A beautifully restored art deco, multi-plex theater. The population is approximately 75,000 residents. The views are breathtaking, especially from the beach. It's an island that is full of activity with many choices of what to do either here are near here since it has numerous transportation possibilities.
