Exceeded Expectations!

  • 5 of 5
This was a perfect getaway for my family of four! Beautiful, peaceful setting. Close enough to town to get what you need, but far enough out of town to truly feel like you're in the middle of nowhere! Very comfortable, cozy cabin. The solar power was great! Had plenty of water for our needs. Only two suggestions: 1. Bathroom could use a door vice a curtain for a little more privacy 2. Fire pit could use a covered gazebo (Which in talking with the owner, will be completed this year). We will definitely be coming back and will stay here in this cabin again! Thank you for creating such a great little place off the beaten path! Look forward to staying there next Memorial Day weekend!

Owner's Response: I'm so pleased to hear Scott that you and your family enjoyed what we love about Bogachiel Retreat. We have hopes of completing the fire pit area when we have access to the cabin so we don't disturb our guests. The bathroom door was left off on purpose because we heat the cabin with a wood stove. We chose the curtain for closure because it aloud heat to circulate through the bathroom and have privacy at the same time. Looking forward to you returning when you can, so you'll also be able to enjoy the improvements we have planned.

Great experience on a beautiful place!

  • 4 of 5
We had a great time at the Bogachiel River retreat.
We stayed there for three nights with our three kids, age between 1 and 5. Everybody had fun- playing on the meadow and on/in the river, relaxing in the sun, making campfires, watching the stars and the full moon.
The cabin is well equipped and clean, the location is nice in the nature, quite and lots of space to play without thinking of cars etc.
We made daytrips to the Hoh Rain Forest and to Forks and La Push, but also the Sol Duc Hot Springs Resort is close enough to do it from here.
I would recommend the property to everybody who wants to be outside in the nature, but not sleeping in a tent without a bathroom and shower- like me ;)
The only thing we were missing was a picnic table or something to have the meals outside

Ultimate Peace

  • 4 of 5
This cabin has an impressive, peaceful setting. Secluded yet, close to town and activities.

The cabin was clean and stocked with essentials you would need. The bed was very comfortable.

The outside was perfect for sitting by the fire late at night, watching elk drink from the stream or a relaxing bit of yoga.

The owner was very prompt and friendly. The directions to the cabin seem overwhelming at first but if you follow them exactly you will have no problem finding it.

A few FYIs for other potential renters is the staircase is quite steep and there is no handrail to grab when you are going down. It was a little nerve racking going up and down the stairs in the dark but they do provide several night lights so you can find the bathroom! If stairs give you trouble the couch in the living room folds out into a bed and was quite comfortable too. Also, the outlets in the cabin run off of 12volt so anything with a regular plug will not work.

I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who was looking for somewhere to stay in this area. We would look this place up again if we return!

Owner's Response: I'm so pleased you enjoyed the settings Bogachiel Retreat offers. Every time I go I always feel the same the yard looks like a park and enjoy the river. Yes the stairs might be steep for some especially when we're not use to stairs. We have railings going down the stairs completed.

Just what the doctor ordered!

  • 4 of 5
Our small family plus one (5 total) were looking for a place on water near the Hoh Rainforest. The idea of staying in a place off the grid intrigued us so we made the leap.
The property was gorgeous, large, spacious with great views of the Bogachiel River. Lighting and the water pump were solar-powered. The water heater, fridge and freezer were propane powered. This place was warm, friendly, quiet, and just what we needed to unplug from our busy lives.

From what I understand, the owner(s) recently started renting it out and some small changes would make it better: more linens, blankets, and towels, more coffee cups, rails on the stairs in the upstairs bedroom, and a cover over part of the firepit (which they are planning on putting in).

The big question...would we recommend it to friends or go back ourselves? 100% yes.

Owner's Response: We're looking forward to your return visit in hopes you'll be able to see more of the changes that we have planned.
Yes at first we thought we had enough towels, linens etc. however, we have more now and also easier for our guests to locate.

A Hidden Gem in The Olympic Forest

  • 5 of 5
I spent 3 nights at the retreat in early January with a couple of friends. The retreat is a fantastic cabin in an amazing location. The cabin is super clean and warm. There is firewood supplied by the owner. I recommend you go with people you know well, since it is a cozy intimate cabin. There are plenty of activities around the cabin as well as Forks. I would definitely recommend the cabin to others and I hope to get back there again and take another crack at fishing.

Thank you so much for your review it means allot, since we're a new listing.
We have plans on adding yard games and a gazebo over the fire pit when the weather permits.
We're looking forward having you return in hopes you can relax and enjoy some fishing.
