I booked this cabin for a weekend getaway with some friends. The 6 of us had a really awesome weekend of snow shoeing and visiting. The cabin has a nice (interrupted) view of Coliseum Mountain. It is just far enough off of the highway to be both very quiet and easy to find. The cabin is well stocked; lots of dishes and pots in the kitchen, extra blankets, an enormous stack of firewood, games, interesting books. The little wood stove kept us at a balmy 23 degrees. Water needs to be conserved as it is trucked in; however, the quick showers a few of us enjoyed where nice and warm. The owners were helpful and pleasant. The cabin itself is just awesome; a beautiful wood decor, granite counters, tasteful furniture, and just enough decoration to be woodsy without being tacky. It's a great place and I hope to visit again. I'll recommend it to friends and family. It was a really nice place to stay.
The cabin is beautiful, perect balance of rustic and modern. We brought a couple snowmobiles with us and found great riding, while the non riders played board games and read books by the fire. We were expecting to find a coffee maker but instead found a french press which turned out to be entertaining in itself!! Lol We would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone from families to couples wanting a romantic getaway!
We all enjoyed the peace and quiet the location provided as well as the beautiful vista. The cabin was cozy and comfortable. Everyone enjoyed both the indoor wood burning stove and the fire pit outside. The master bedroom was comfy with the queen bed and loft comfortably fit one whole family of five (including adult/teen children); however, the bed in the loft is a double bed not a queen as advertised. Our major disappointment is that we were only made aware of the water restrictions a couple of days before our arrival and then when we arrived the notification read - 4 people in 4 days can run out of water if wash dishes, flush toilet, shower, etc as usual. We had 9 - 10 people using the cabin for 5 days. We were diligent at conserving water and even had to go to the local store to purchase paper plates in order to cut down on dish washing. We chose the cabin because of its "modern conveniences" including bathroom with running water and kitchen with all the appliances - this part really disappointed us all. I recommend that the water conservation issues be advertised right up front. Unfortunately, the electric heater in the bathroom wasn't working either and the toilet needed to be shut off and only turned on to flush (which was only when "brown flush it down" - not a hardship but an inconvenience). We are all campers but for this occasion we were wanting the modern conveniences including a four minute shower everyday. I would also recommend that the rugs in the kitchen and living room be cleaned after each rental.
The cabin was everything we expected it to be.Comfortable and cozy and very quiet. The location is off the beaten path and you should buy groceries before heading to Nordegg.
We loved the outdoor fire ring, the indoor fireplace was easy to manage and there was wood enough for a year ;)
The kitchen was well equipped and everything was clean and tidy.
There were only three minor issues we weren't so crazy about: two many flies ( but I guess there's always one critter issue,if you live in the middle of the woods) ,no closet space in the bedroom, and there was no internet service during our stay.
Aside from these, if you're looking for a comfortable place to stay while getting away from it all, surrounded by nature ( and very few neighbors), this is a great place.
We had a great time at the cabin. It was very homey and comfortable. We found the cabin to be clean and well maintained. Wifi was not working during our stay although it gave us an opportunity to come together as a family and our kids did well without internet for the week. With a 17 year old and a 10 year old it is hard to find something to please everyone but the hideaway cabin had something for everyone with the TV for my son to watch movies and a great outdoor space for my daughter to burn energy. We would love to come back to this property and hope to plan another stay soon!
