Relax in a beautiful, recently renovated home overlooking the gorgeous and quiet Winston Pond which is connected to Sackett Lake. The home is on secluded section of the street with woods on one side. Two decks with a hot tub overlook Winston Pond, which is right in the backyard and great for fishing. Inside the main house you'll find a chef's kitchen, a dinning area perfect for large groups, 5 bedrooms(with trundle beds for additional sleeping, and 3 full baths. A detached guest house with 3 bedrooms and a full bathroom provide extra space, great for visiting family, larger groups or guests. Just a short 5 minute stroll to Sackett Lake, where you can access a beach for swimming, boating, etc.
The closest public transportation is in Monticello where there is a short line bus. There is an express bus which goes directly into New York City. This is approximately 1 1/2 hr. trip. There is taxi cab service from there to the house in Sacket Lake which is approx. 10 min drive.
Empty nesters we now live in ohio. Our family spent many happy weeks at this house mainly in the summer. Swimming in Sackett Lake, boating, sunning roasting marshmallows in the fire pit.
We originally bought this home when we had the majority of our kids living or going to sleep away camp in the new york/penn. area. Now we have moved on and would like to eventually sell the house but have not had the heart to give it up quite yet. Financially this sounds like a good option.
Close to New York, quiet get a way especially during the week or the fall/spring/winter months. During the summer it does get somewhat busy. Close to Bethel Woods music
This home is definetly a lake house. It is right next to the lake and has a great view both from inside and on the deck. It has a lot of space and a hot tub and BBQ, all on a pretty great patio. It also has a pretty darn nice kitchen! We didn't get the benefits of the view and location because we were here for work and got back after dark and left again before it was light everyday except check-out. It also has Nintendo 64 with 007 and Mario Kary which is amazing (but 2 more controllers would make it amazing!). It was conveniently located close to the Monticello Motor Club where we were working, so that was a plus.
Unfortuntely for our purposes it was a bit of a let down. The beds that are marked as doubles are more like child singles ( One of my guys had to pull up a table so his feet didnt hang off) , the "King" bed is actually two of these little beds put together. This was frustrating as my group was 6 full grown men that were not used to sleeping on such small beds. Beds were really the most important things for us and I should've done more research to make sure they were as stated.
It seemed obvious that this house had been sitting quite a long time as it smelled very musty but again, it is a lake house. There were also a number of bulbs out and the owner had left clothing and personal belongings in the home (not a huge deal but different from what I'm used to). However, the bottom floor smelled so "musty" or "mildewy" that nobody in my group was willing to stay down there (this was where the only true queen size bed was).
The property Manager was timely and courteous and helped us out with everything we needed as soon as we asked. Meryl the owner was also kind and courteous but didn't seem overly focused on the customer service aspect (or maybe is just new to VRBO) as I had to email and call her to get the information on how to get into the home and never recieved photos I asked for. Meryl was kind enough to work with me however on payment and when I messed up my booking she adjusted it for me which was helpful.
I dont mean to be over-critical; I would say its a good home, should be priced less and needs bigger beds, and new bed linens in general, and some TLC to make it a home I would want to rent again. The bottom floor needs some kind of renovation as well.
