Beautifully furnished and decorated apartment located in the circa 1880, Mattie Rousser House. This historic home was divided into three lovely apartments during the depression era. Enjoy the two bedroom suite comfortably furnished with queen beds, down pillows, high thread count hotel sheets, and ample closet space. Additional sheets and blankets are in the front armoire. You will find a nicely appointed bathroom with a pocket door between the full tile shower and the toilet/vanity powder room. There is an additional door from the Master bedroom to the shower room, so you can use it as a powder room, a full bath or a Master bath. Hair dryer, shampoo, hair conditioner and towels are provided. The living area is a great place to relax with a very comfortable leather couch, flat screen TV with cable and internet. The eat in kitchen is adjacent with a antique drop leaf table, full appliances, dishes, silverware, and spices. It is ready to make a meal or take a 90 second or so walk to several eateries . Relax on the shaded patio or take a leisurely stroll to enjoy the many quaint shops on the square. A Keurig K-cup coffeemaker with stocked options awaits you when you wake, or stumble a few hundred feet to the Galaxy Bakery & Coffee House (Rated #4 nationally on the Learning Channel’s Bodacious Bakery segment.) Or a little over 2 blocks will get you to the Monument Café where Mathew McConaughey (his mom lives here) invited his good friend Guy Fieri,( host of The Food Networks “Diners-Drive Inns and Dives”) to his favorite organic based diner for some food festivities.
We personally searched across the Nation for the best place to live. Come and see why we chose Georgetown, Texas as the perfect fit.
Tom and Debbie: We started our married life here in Georgetown in 2006. Tom has lived and worked in Georgetown for the past 20+ years. We started Green Earth Builders together in 2005 and purchased and remodel the property you will be staying in. Our first home together was an historic house on Main Street. Our second home was another historic home on Elm Street. We lovingly remodel both of these homes. We are now almost finished with our present old home on Wilbarger Point which overlooks Southwestern University and Georgetown. We have a passion for restoration and decorating. Green Earth Builders helps sponsor the annual Heritage Society Holiday Home tour. Our own and several of our client’s homes have been featured over the years.
Lawrence Romero purchased this apartment in 2007
After looking nationwide, we feel that Georgetown offers the best balance of small town charm and friendliness in comparison to “Big City Livin”
Location! Location! Location!
The main house was built on the square and dragged by mule teams to its present location in the 1880’s. There is no closer vacation rental to the Historic County Square.
We thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Mattie Rousier House; you have taken care of every little detail. I hope you keep Apt. 2. in your VRBO rental pool. I would love to come back and visit Georgetown when I have more time to visit. Thank you for accommodating us on such short notice.
Location within Georgetown was not a consideration when we were looking but ended up being a wonderful bonus! Our plans to visit with local family turned in to a surprise vacation because of this location. We loved being able to walk around and enjoy the wildflowers, the live music at night, the shops and vendors during the day. We also found ourselves in delightful conversation with the resident neighbors.
For our family, it was great that the 2nd bedroom is positioned in such a way that with subtle white noise, it was easy to retreat without sound or light from the other rooms. It was a real bonus, too, that such an openness could be achieved and still have the option to blackout the main bedroom for sleeping.
Finally, we were very impressed with the hospitality and that it was all specifically spelled out in writing on the papers in the apartment (ie: water and snacks, what and how to clean, etc. and what was included for no extra charge).
I wish that we could give a half star instead just whole star ratings. If so, this would be rated 4.5, instead of 5. The only thing lacking, in our opinion, were the mattresses. Neither of the mattresses were horrible but in light of all the amazing things about the place, the mattresses were not amazing.
We hope to be able to stay here again when in the area!
My family and I stayed for a few days in Suite 2 and the accommodations were immaculate! I was impressed at how clean and how thoughtfully done everything was. It really felt easy to relax right away because they had everything you needed. Not only that but we were asked at the end how the property could be improved upon; a very conscientious and kind owner! The location can't be beat - we were spoiled by the proximity to the square, food, everything you could need. I did not check the "recommendation for families with young children" because it may not work for ALL kids, but I want to say it did work well for us. I would caution if your children are high energy, this home is adorned very nicely with a few glass items and antiques. If your children are generally careful then it would receive my full endorsement for families with children. We absolutely enjoyed our stay, and would love to make this trip a habit.
Loved, loved, loved this property. It's location is 1 block from the town center and is so close to shops and restaurants. The house itself has everything you need as your home away from home. Beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable. The owner has thought of everything, including having the Keurig coffee available for your mornings and water in the fridge. We had a great visit for our first time to Georgetown!
My sisters and I stayed for 3 nights and absolutely loved it! The house is one block off of the square so we were able to walk to the shops and restaurants. Great place to shop, eat & try some local wine! Wonderful!!!!!
The property was very conveniently located, historic yet very nicely finished with all the comforts of home. The owner was also great and went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed.
You are at the 'Most Beautiful Town Square in Texas' A safe hometown atmosphere with loads of antique shops, dining, bars, winery storefronts, and live music at several locations. The Palace Theater with live Broadway Shows, The Williamson County Museum, Inner Space Caverns are nearby and the Round Rock Outlet Mall is just south of Georgetown city limits.
