DUBROVNIK SUMMER FESTIVAL: Dubrovnik Summer Festival (Croatian: Dubrova?ke ljetne igre) is an annually-held summer festival instituted in 1949, held in Dubrovnik, Croatia in the period July 10th - August 25th.

In a unique ambient of open and closed scenes of Renaissance-Baroque city of Dubrovnik a rich programme of classical music, theatre, opera and dance is presented annually.

JULIAN RACHLIN & FRIENDS” FESTIVAL: Can you imagine the honor extended to the citizens of Dubrovnik by Julian Rachlin, one of the world-famous violinists when, during his guest performance at the Dubrovnik Summer Festival in the year 2000, he came up with the idea of organizing a festival of chamber music in their city And the idea has not remained merely an idea, but became reality when master Rachlin brought to Dubrovnik many of his fellow musicians, including some of the most prominent names of classical music like the cellist Maischea Maisky or violinist Janine Jansen, pianist Itamar Golan, cornist Radovan Vlatkovic. Enchanted with the atmosphere of the historic town centre, the most beautiful stage for playing music, Rachlin and his friends perform for Dubrovnik’s audience year after year, thus creating a festival that, in addition to the friendly atmosphere, offers its visitors a high quality experience, incomparable to any similar music event.

Guestbook comments from the owner
Mr and my husband stayed at your wonderful apartment at the beginning of September. Thank you for being there to meet us following our plane delay. The apartment was exceptionally clean and all the fittings and equipment were new. The view is as stunning as on the picture on your website. Really handy for pretty Cavtat to drive into at night 10 mins away Loved Milijet island where we hired bikes. Dubrovnick only 15 mins away.

best wishes Marie and Ray

BEST HOLIDAY SO FAR!!

  • 5 of 5
First time holiday in Croatia for the 2 of us - stunning scenery, wonderful people and fantastic weather in September
It was a change from Italy/France, where we might usually visit, and a great decision - we'll definitely return.

Why Dubrovnik?

Historic old city. Lots of places to see. Street music, fun atmosphere. Eating out - spoilt for choice. Great local transport. Croatian wine (a first for us - visit D'Vino for a tasting!). Attractive walking trails outside town. Dubrovnik has an attractive 'mature' air - plenty of young folks and older folks too but no sign of stag/hen groups, unlike some other beautiful old cities, thankfully. Good value too.

If staying, as we did, for more than a week you might venture beyond Dubrovnik. Take ferries to nearby Adriatic islands. Rent a car & drive South to Montenegro (take Euros) - glorious coastline around Kotor Bay makes a great day out - reminds us of Italian Lakes. Mostar in Bosnia (Euros, Kuna ok in tourist area - no need for local currency) is c3 hours by car - really interesting town especially when followed by visit to War Photos exhibition in Dubrovnik - truly humbling. Driving is a pleasure - main roads (particularly coastal road around Dubrovnik) are far smoother than potholed UK roads, speed limits are low & largely respected. Uncomfortable driving? Jump on an organised tour instead.

So, you're hooked on Dubrovnik. What about the apartment? First the practical stuff......

15 mins with bus from Old Town. Short walk to beach. Bus stop within a stone's throw. Easy parking right outside). It's the best equipped apartment we've EVER stayed in -

Now that VIEW and the BALCONY - the previous reviewers express this far more poetically than I ever could. It's heavenly. If you don't want to leave the apartment, just spend a week on the balcony instead.

Now the REAL reason why you DON'T need to look further for somewhere to stay. We've stayed in perhaps 10-15 holiday apartments over the years but our hosts here - - were incomparable. From our 1st email to the last night BBQ on the terrace we were treated like longstanding friends.

I can't thank you enough. We enjoyed a wonderful stay

A FORTNIGHT OF BLISS ON THE DUBROVNIK RIVIERA!

  • 5 of 5
We stayed at Apartmani Soline for two weeks in July/August 2013. The apartment forms part of an attractive, peach-coloured, white-balconied, multi-storey construction on three levels. The owner and his family live downstairs and there is an identical apartment next-door to ours. The balcony was larger than we expected with a fabulous view across the bay to Cavtat and the islands.
What we hadn't expected, and which came as a nice surprise, was an large outdoor barbecue area (communal to the twin apartments) with large dining table. The barbecue takes some skill to get going (wood is provided by the owners ) but we had several very nice evenings there. One reason for the view is the elevated position of the location: this is potentially bad news for those who dislike lots of hills. However, if you are passably fit and don't mind a bit of extra exercise on holiday then the rewards vastly outweigh any disadvantages: the views on the (at times fairly shallow) descent are stunning: past olive, orange, almond, pomegranate and even fig trees (and, to our surprise large, ripe blackberries), the sea beckons tantalisingly all the way down.
The sea itself, in late July, was a delight: usually warm, always crystal clear, I spent hours floating in it (and I'm not really a water lover). There was very little wind in such a sheltered location. There is another even smaller beach close by and slightly nearer, other than that the three beaches in nearby Plat are just about within walking distance depending how much you like energetic walking!
It would be hard to exaggerate the sense of peace and tranquillity in the immediate area. The "main road" in between runs up the coast to Dubrovnik, but it's more like a country road than a main artery. Or do what we decided to do: take a one-way trip to Dubrovnik, arriving in the old port of that city, and returning to our apartment by bus. In summary, we had a fantastic holiday here, enhanced for us by the apartment owners being so kind and helpful. If you are expecting a hectic nighlife, then this area is probably not for you. If, on the other hand, you enjoy swimming in beautifully clear water, appreciate a glorious sea view, want to hear largely only the sound of the sea and the chanting of the crickets (as well as throwing in trips to a historic old city like nearby Dubrovnik or attractive resorts like Cavtat) then this is most definitely the place. An ideal place to stay

ONE OF THE BEST HOLIDAYS I'VE EVER HAD...

One of the best holidays I've ever had...
  • 5 of 5
The owners of the apartment Marina and Ukovic were the most hopsitable, kind and generous hosts I have ever come across.

From our arrival at Dubrovnik airport we had difficulty getting our rental car so the owners picked us up as it was late and dropped us to the apartment ensuiring we grabbed some food at the local restaurant. The next day we still had trouble with the car so straight away one was organised for us at a very affordable rate. Throughout the whole stay the family ensured we had a great stay.

The apartment itself was extremely clean, had every maneity you would need and close to your own private beach!

There are several large supermarkets located nearby as well as bus routes that go into central Dubrovnik.

All in all this was one of the best holidays we have ever had and it was mostly down to our hosts!

FABULOUS HOLIDAY

  • 5 of 5
We stayed for a week in Niksa and Marina's apartment, its lovely very clean and bright, but we spent most of our time on the balcony watching the world go by! Niksa and Marina were perfect hosts even giving us a bottle of wine on arrival as the shops were shut!
We hope to be back next year!

BEAUTIFUL APARTMENT IN STUNNING LOCATION

  • 5 of 5
We had an absolutely wonderful relaxing week away in one of Niksa's appartments, Soline. We received a warm welcome from Niksa and his family and he went out of his way to provide us with maps and advice on which beaches to visit. He even went so far as to give us his mobile number in case we needed any further assistance whilst out and about.

The apartment itself was lovely and clean with a beautiful sea view. We enjoyed relaxing on our balcony each evening, watching the stunning sun sets. Niksa and his family had worked hard to furnish the apartment with anything you could possibly need and made it feel exceptionally homely. Additionally there was an outside covered dining area with a brick oven for outside cooking pursuits - well worth a try!

The local beach was perfect for our needs - small, quiet and not full of tourists! Access to the beach is via a large number of stairs, but it's certainly worth the walk. Be warned that if you swim round the headland you will be sure to encounter naked people! There is one restaurant within walking distance which serves tasty, reasonably priced food, but Cavtat is certainly worth a visit for a more diverse range of food.

The location is extremely handy for exploring the Dalmation Coastline south of Dubrovnik and the bus stop is located right outside the apartment. The city centre is 15/20 minutes by bus and buses run regularly and late into the night. In the other direction is the peaceful coastal town of Cavtat. There is plenty of exploring to do, including boat trips to local islands and coach tours into neighbouring countries. We visited Mostar for the day and purchased our tickets at the bus station in Dubrovnik.

If you are planning to primarily cater for yourself, do take Niksa up on his offer to stop off at the supermarket on the way to the apartment from the airport. The nearest shops are a fair walk away along the main coastal highway and without a car means you are dependent on travelling into Mlini or Cavtat on the bus for daily groceries.

We highly recommend this apartment and hope to return in the future.

GREAT VIEW, QUIET LOCATION

  • 4 of 5
Apartment was exactly as shown in photos. We picked it for the location (outside but close to Dubrovnik) and the sea view, and both were just what we wanted. Kitchen was well supplied; owner gave us a coffee maker for our use when we asked. Great ventilation meant we hardly had to use air conditioning.

Number 10 Cavtat bus and number 16 Plat bus both stop at Soline. Location was very quiet despite being close to the road.

Nearest beach was about 300 steps down but very nice with both sun and shade.

Owners were very helpful and supplied lots of tourist information about Dubrovnik and Cavtat. They will pick you up or drop you off at bus station or airport.

They recommended Kamenice restaurant in old town Dubrovnik, which was very good.
