I am a world traveler who now calls Lexington home. After attending University of Kentucky I settled in to a nice life with my girlfriend Katlyn. Together we manage the property as a side business and enjoy offering guests with a quality place to stay in Lexington!
Matti Pauli purchased this house in 2005
I do my best to keep a comfortable clean environment for people on vacation/business or what have you :)
The location, safe neighborhood, ability to walk or drive to anything quickly is a great benefit to staying at my home in downtown Lexington!
Looking for a place in Lexington for a large group on the bourbon trail was proving to be difficult until I came across this great house. Matti provides an exceptional place to stay located close to the University of Kentucky and can be used as headquarters if your on the Bourbon Trail. The house has 5 bedrooms and plenty of space to move around freely. The Wifi and Bluetooth stereo system was very cool letting us listen to music from anywhere in the house. We got meet Matti when we first arrived and he was very polite giving us tips and tricks on what the locals do for fun in Lexington. There were enough bathrooms for all of us and it truly was the perfect place for all of us to stay. Updated furniture was relaxing and no one complained about sore backs or uncomfortable conditions. If I do the trail again with a group I will definitely be staying here. Thanks Matti for everything.

In a great part of town if you have kids that like the park and/or want to go to a UK basketball game or do something on campus. There are plenty of restaurants and shops to walk to, and a kroger that is getting a facelift and should be open again soon. The city park is adjacent to the street the house is located on and is wonderful! I would not recommend this house for those with small kids, anyone that can't handle stairs, or doesn't want to do a lot of going up and down stairs. The house has an odd setup- might have been used as college housing at some point - and smells a bit funny but other than that it was great. Plenty of space, beds and linens were nice, and towels plentiful. The kitchen had everything we needed and Matti brought us coffee for the keurig when there was none upon arrival. Overall a good place to stay, we just weren't expecting the layout, and with small children, it made it a bit tricky.
I stayed with a family group of 7 and there was plenty of room for everyone. The kitchen was great for meals, and the bedrooms and baths are set up so that it feels like you have privacy within a bigger group. Everything was clean and easy to figure out. There is a large driveway for cars and the location was very convenient to UK and downtown Lexington. Booking was very easy and the owner, Matti, was great with communication. The property was well-maintained with comfortable beds and fixtures -- very much as described on the site. We would definitely stay again.
I texted the owner before our trip and asked where I could purchase some local honey.
When we got there he personally delivered it for us!
The outside of the property is not the prettiest on this street of student houses but the inside is pristine,
The nearness of the park was perfect.
I was in Lexington with 2 other moms with our daughters for an event for the weekend. We rented the house, trying to avoid hotel living for 3 nights. We saw this on VRBO and decided to give it a try. We all just loved it. It's so cute on the inside and has so much room. Everyone had sufficient space, the beds and pillows were so comfortable, the decor is adorable, and it's so convenient to campus or downtown. There were plenty of paper products, soap, shampoo, and kitchen condiments. The only thing we didn't find there were hair dryers (I forgot mine), plastic storage containers (as moms we had leftovers to store), and extra washcloths (we just found 5 for the 8 of us). I'm sure Matti will provide those as soon as he sees this, as that's the kind of guy he seems to be. Super nice and helpful. There were 5 bedrooms (one has a blow up queen size air mattress, one has 2 twins, and the other 3 have queen beds). The living room has a very roomy and comfortable couch as well. There's a flat screen in the living room and a smaller one in one bedroom. Don't be thrown off by the exterior. It's in an older neighborhood, but it's safe and quaint. Definitely we plan to return on our next event!
We had a wonderful family Thanksgiving here. There was plenty of room for eight of us, and we enjoyed cooking Thanksgiving dinner in the newly-renovated kitchen. It was very convenient to have a grocery store and neighborhood pub in walking distance.
Matti, the owner, went out of his way to make sure that we had everything we needed. He was even kind enough to mail an item that we left behind.
We would return to this property.
The house is nestled on a sleepy one way st in the heart of downtown Lexington. The local grocery store is 2 blocks away, there is dining establishments from the sandwich shop on the corner to fine dining a few blocks away. The neighborhood is safe and community oriented with lots of recreational walking and jogging. at the end of the st is a large and beautiful park that has tennis, basketball, swimming, softball, skateboarding and other activities. The football and basketball stadium are even within walking distance as is the arboretum. It is a short drive to the numerous outlying scenic drives that border Lexington along with horse parks, golf courses, romantic parks and historical landmarks. And don't forget the Bourbon Trail!!!
You will have a blast in Lexington and if you have any questions about what to do while you are here I have a list of helpful suggestions on hand :)
