Perfect for a rustic vacation away from the stress of daily life, this Rhododendron riverfront cottage on the Sandy River is an amazing place to enjoy the peace and quiet of nature.
Small and quiet Rhododendron, Oregon, is located between Sandy and Mt. Hood (about 20 minutes from each), so between the river, the forests, and the mountain, you will have no shortage of wilderness to appreciate! This particular home is located at the end of the street in a very quiet, family neighborhood, and a short path in the backyard leads directly to the beautiful Sandy River.
The house itself was recently remodeled and has a comfortable, cabin-theme decor with an efficient floor plan and minimal electronic distractions. The living room has plenty of seating for a small family to sit around the gas fireplace and play one of the board games provided. WiFi and a selection of books are also available, so you won't even notice the lack of a TV! In the full kitchen you will find gorgeous tile countertops and all the major appliances and everything you will need to cook a meal for yourself and your guests.
Downstairs also has a full bathroom, washer and dryer, and a sofa in the living room that can fold out to a bed at night. Upstairs there is a loft area and a daybed with a trundle bed, plus the master bedroom which features a half-bathroom and a king-size bed. With all the sleeping spaces packed into this home, up to six people (plus two 20-pound or less dogs with a $10 per day, per pet, $40 minimum fee per stay) can sleep comfortably! And right out the back door is a nice deck and a fire pit, plus the path that will lead you a short way to the river.
This home has easy access to many outdoor activities: wading, exploring, or fishing in the river is just steps away, hiking and biking trails in the forest are 3 miles down the road, golfing and restaurants in Welches are 2 miles away, and Mt. Hood's Timberline Lodge is just 20 miles east. The rustic cottage would be a perfect place to spend a few days enjoying the sights and sounds of nature, whether you venture to the mountain or stay in the comfort of your vacation home.

This is a great property and we would stay again. Just be aware that sound travels through this house as there are no doors separating the bedroom from the rest of the home. This is a perfect couples weekend get away.
This is a great little cabin with comfortable furnishings perfect for a family. Nice quiet area tucked in the woods by a river. We used it a s a base for skiing and was very nice to come home to. Love the zig zag rhododendron area! Highly recommend
Visited after a recent snow fall. The cabin is about 4 miles off the 26 highway and those roads can be filled with snow so make note of the vehicle you access the cabin with. You will need chains and/or 4 or all wheel drive or risk being stuck in the snow.
The cabin is amazing. It looks small but the layout uses every space available. The main bathroom is large and the small master bathroom is convent on the second floor (no shower in the smaller bath).
The kitchen is surprisingly large and the living room and dining room are cozy. There is no door to the master bedroom so if you are bunking with friends or family do not plan on privacy inside the cabin. For a couple looking to get away for the weekend the cabin is perfect. Easy access to the Sandy river and a beautiful view of the river from the living room.
this place is incredible. we had the best weekend here with our newborn. we loved getting to walk along the river - that trail is amazing. we put a hammock up and fished and swam. such a great summer getaway. we can't wait to come back here. its a incredible place. thanks for everything Tiffany!
We had a quiet stay at the RR resort over the 4th holiday (the 4th wasn't quiet, but the rest of the weekend was). The back porch is shaded and you can see the Sandy River rushing by. It was perfect for sipping wine, watching birds and exhaling deeply. The cabin is stunningly appointed with unique tiles, metal work, quilts and a really cool birch bark lightplate. Wifi worked great so I got some work done and husband watched YouTube videos since there isn't a TV on cable or antennae; just DVD player. The kitchen is well-stocked and my husband indulged in a nightly hot cocoa. Overall, the quality of furnishings (towels, linens, pots/pans, dishware, cooking staples and the BRITA!) were extremely high. Often, you rent VRBO and feel like you're in a rental for college student get-aways (that they didn't trust you enough to use their stuff so you have to use the Goodwill stuff) vs. someone's home... ... It was a wonderful weekend getaway.
Thanks to Tiffany for a great stay. Beautiful, new cabin that was just the right size for our family of 4 and with everything we'd ever need. Kids found the path along the river within minutes of arriving and spent the whole afternoon exploring. River is kid-friendly and within view of the cabin. Close to great, kid-friendly hikes and the Zig Zag ranger station.
