This brand new apartment is well presented through out and furnished to a high standard with quality Italian made fitted kitchen and bedroom furniture. Ideally situated in the largest village on the island, allowing easy access to all areas with it being centrally located near all the main tourist attractions such as MostaDome, Mdina,Hypoguem, Sliema and Paceville for night life, Mediterraneo dolphin park, Splash and Fun water park, all being only 10 min drive away and Valletta -the capital city is a mere 5 min drive away and the beaches to the north at Mellieha and Golden sands approx 15/20 min drive away. The whole island is fairly compact and everywhere is reasonably reached within 20 min drive! Alternatively you could use the fantastic buses that Malta offers and the bus station is 100 m walk away. The village of Birkirkara offers plenty of shops to meet your needs with butchers, newsagents, general stores and there is also a large GS Supermarket 800 m away.
The village of Birkirkara: Birkirkara, situated in the central region of Malta, is the largest population centre on the Islands and has been so since the middle Ages. Birkirkara was listed as one of the original 12 medieval parishes in 1436. It continued to flourish until it splintered into separate parishes. Today, the parish church is still known as `Matrici' which means it is the mother of the other neighbouring parishes. Another interesting church is the old parish church dedicated to The Assumption. Most of present-day Birkirkara is modern, though the town retains a traditional core characterised by alleyways, narrow streets and houses typical of small villages. The larger town houses tend to be used as headquarters for band clubs or political parties. A tiny garden separates the town's older area from the new quarters. Here you can see one of the old railway stations on the commuter line that ran from Rabat to Valletta. Apart from the churches, the oldest buildings in the town are the windmills.
One is a private residence, the other, at the heart of the town, is an art gallery. Known locally as `Ta' Ganu' it hosts exhibitions by local and foreign artists. There are about six churches. One of them is St Helena Basilica. It has got the largest church bell in Malta. The main feast in B'Kara is celebrated on the 18th August. B'Kara's feast is special because the procession takes place in the morning rather then in the evening. At the outskirts of B'Kara near Mriehel area one can find the Aqueducts, which were constructed by Grand Master Alof de Wignacourt to provide water for the new city - Valletta. Up to 1931 Malta had its own railway lines that ran from Valletta to Mdina. In B'Kara one can find a railway station, which was used by those times. Although now it is changed to a garden, it's a good idea to go and visit the Old Railway Station. Another mark of the old times in B'Kara is the windmill. Windmills were used extensively but now they are only something of the past.'

Shopping in TOWN: Triq il- Wied is the main road where may shops selling clothes and other accerories are found.
Gardens: The public gardens of San Anton, open to the public since 1882, are laid out in a formal manner, with graceful walkways, sculptures, ornamental ponds, families of ducks and swans, and a small aviary. They contain a large variety of trees and flowers from around the world, including a variety of palm trees, cypress, jacarandas, araucarias and other exotic plants, some of them over three centuries old. For many years it has been customary for visiting Heads of State to plant a tree in memory of their stay in Malta. The gardens also contain an orangerie, and it was once the practice of incumbent Governors to give baskets of oranges grown in the palace gardens as gifts at Christmas time.San Anton Gardens is a nice 20 minute walk away.

This house is where I grew up as a child.....so I personally have lovely memories. 30 years ago when i was a teenager, my parents never drove us around and I remember hoping on a bus and going anywhere I wanted to go.....30 years later, though I rarely get on a bus, this area still proves to be one of the most central areas on the island, no wonder Bkara is the most populated village in Malta.
Birkirkara is not a touristic area...it is where the locals live, myself included so one will be able to see the true maltese life, live among locals and discover this beautiful island with ease!

The apartment gives you a fantastic location to explore and discover the beautiful island of Malta and neighbouring Gozo, the apartment provides you with ample space to accommodate all your needs and is especially designed for larger groups, providing 2 main full size bathrooms, three double bedrooms & two sofa beds. Also being on ground floor, it is perfect for people with mobility problems. Malta is ideal for diving holidays as the water is clear blue and the islands are also ideal for walking as well with rugged terrain to explore to your hearts content.
Golf: More on Birkirkara or B'Kara (Italian: Birchircara) is a city of 25,775 inhabitants (as of November 2010) in central Malta. It is the largest and most populous localities on the island and consists of four autonomous parishes: St Helen, St Joseph, Our Lady of the Carmel and St Mary. It also houses one of the most famous colleges in Malta, St Aloysius' College. Birkirkara is the home town of Ex-President Edward Fenech Adami and former Opposition Leader Alfred Sant and also the first president of Malta Anthony Mamo.
