Overview

Rhinebeck House Rental Photos and Description

2 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 4. High-speed Internet, Cable TV

You should probably rent this home for a few days because it will take about that long to take your eyes off the river and realize there is even a house on this spectacular property. When you finally do you will be pleased to find a charming riverfront home perched on a high bluff overlooking the river allowing the views from the front terrace to stretch just that much further.

The home was renovated in August 2013 and features hardwood floors, stainless steel appliances and abundance of windows perfect for taking in the view and letting in plenty of sunlight and fresh air.

The second level features two bedrooms (one King, one Queen bed) and a bathroom. The lower level has an eat-in kitchen, living room and enclosed porch. We even added a small bed to the porch just for enjoying cool nights and fresh air.

The property is 1.5 acres in size so it feels very private, especially the lawn areas closer to the river.

Please note, the property owner does not allow gatherings of more than 20 people.

Glorious and Charming

  • 5 of 5

Our daughter moved to the area to attend Bard several years ago and ever since, my wife and I have headed east each fall for a visit. Normally we stay at the Beekman Arms but decided on a rental house this time as we wanted something with more flexibility. It was my wife who found this charming little spot and, in addition to marrying me, it was one of her better decisions ;-)

The pictures online are a bit deceiving, not truly showing the full breadth and splendor of the view that awaits when you crest the driveway, and I encourage the owners to right this egregious wrong. The house boasts one of the most spectacular Hudson views I have every laid eyes on.

While my wife puttered around the well appointed kitchen, I grabbed the provided binoculars and set up shop with my coffee on the beautiful stone patio and commenced birdwatching. Sadly I didn't get a peek at the bald eagles who are said to frequent the area but I did get to see my first falcon in flight. What a treat.

The beds are scrumptious, the guest book was a joy and the house has a certain Montauk charm about it while not feeling out of place for the area. It's really an idyllic spot for those looking to escape the mundane aspects of life. Sadly our daughter's pending graduation means we won't be back this fall but when we do, I know where we'll be staying.

Wonderful escape with beautiful views

  • 5 of 5

My wife, 10 month old son, and I had a wonderful 3 night stay here over the 4th of July weekend. It was a last second booking and they were able to accommodate us and our early check-in. We cooked all meals here for the most part and I was very pleased at how well stocked the kitchen was (full set of spices and all of the pots and pans that I needed). Views were incredible. Their neighbors were far enough away that we quickly forgot that we had them. Close to "downtown" Rhinebeck for supplies. They provided plenty of towels. Great stay. Would repeat.

A peaceful week in a charming and beautiful setting...

  • 5 of 5

This sweet house felt like home from the outset - with lovely views of the river, and a warm and welcoming interior. The property was clean and well kept, and the property manager left stunning and sweet smelling blooms and bouquets of flowers on practically every surface. The owner was open to us staying with our young puppy, so we felt really lucky to get a true getaway from the city while keeping the family all together. The property manager was superior in her handling of all arrangements, and very responsive and professional throughout the process. We loved sitting in the Adirondack chairs in the morning over tea/coffee and just enjoying the view of the river. We have family in the area, so we were able to invite everyone over for a BBQ one evening while looking at the water - spectacular!

Our only major kink was with the window treatments in the master bedroom… there are blinds on the windows, but they aren't blackout shades, so the light in the morning really comes pouring in. If you're not a heavy sleeper, this might be a sticking point. I mentioned this to the property manager, and she said she would discuss with the owner, so perhaps this is something that might be changed going forward. I would absolutely recommend this property.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for the feedback, Clea. Based on your review the owners have since put up heavy curtains in the master bedroom. I hope they will make for sounder sleeping conditions during your next stay!

We'll be back!

We stayed in this wonderful little house with another couple and it was the perfect size. Well stocked kitchen, fresh decor, comfy beds... all the comforts you could want in a getaway house. The land and views are stunning, and the cattle across the street and neighborhood kitty just added to the charm. Perfect location to explore the area around Rhinebeck and a quick drive up to Hudson, or just hang out with a bottle of wine in the house playing board games. If it's fall get out there for pumpkins and foliage peeping!

Nestled in the heart of the Hudson Valley, Rhinebeck has something for everyone. Two hours from New York City by car or by Amtrak, the village has a small town feel with cute shops and a wonderful vibe. With the Culinary Institute only 15 minutes away, the whole region is peppered with great restaurants, farmer's markets and local meat and produce shops. There are countless parks where you can take a casual stroll over looking the Hudson or do some of the most serious hiking and rock climbing on the East Coast. Rich in history, the Hudson River Valley has historical sites, mansions to tour and old towns and villages, some dating back three hundred years. You can get a taste of country life with a hayride or pick-your-own farms or explore nearby places like Woodstock, Hudson, Millbrook and Kingston. For the kids, there is the Old Aerodrome, which has antique airplanes on display and air shows. For older kids, horse farms, sportsman’s clubs, golf courses, and dozens of streams and lakes for fishing surround Rhinebeck. Bard College and the Fisher Center for the Arts is only ten minutes away.
